I was going to caution Kobi about encouraging you, but I see it is too late.

God

I was brought up in a secular home. We did not go to church, and there was no reference ever given to a God figure in my childhood. Yet my mother is a member of the First Christian Church and my Dad is a die hard Southern Baptist.

Religion of any kind has always fascinated me and I have read many books about several different religions.

For me I found one common thread that seem to speak to me. Hope in what is unknown. Every religion puts forth a vision of hope and to see that vision one must have faith in the unknown that is presented in the religion one chooses to believe in.

If I were to choose a religion, I would be a Methodist. I can align my thoughts with theirs and not feel pressured to be anyone other than who I am. Now there are divisions of this religion that I could not align with, but this can be found in every organized religion so it's not a major roadblock for me.

I think it's interesting to think about being God. I'm not sure I would want that kind of pressure on me. I'm not really into needing super powers, though I would like to know the winning numbers on the lottery jackpot. I think for me if I were God for a day I would want to come down and just hang out with the regular folks, no red carpet treatment, no big dog meetings. I would want to take the time to listen to those who do believe in me and those who think I am manufactured image.

I hope a lot about a lot of things. I wonder if that is my own personal way of believing in something bigger than myself. It may forever be unknown but it is the way I choose to believe.

If I were God I would feel like a jerk for letting humans ruin the earth.

Venus007 11-23-2013 08:31 PM

I don't believe in a corporeal god, I think it is the sum of our consciousness and all living things and systems added together.

That being said I really like the idea of being an old school low key god,
Like Christina, goddess of the knobby gnarly ancient trees, delicious baked goods and who also does a minor diety gig in learning and education. Oh and I wanna hippogryf to be my companion and transportation.

I do.*sniff* I've been putting it off. But believe me, I've tried everything short of total annililation. I have the atomic blueprint, and know the atomic structure of everything in order to make a new one, but then, I'd have to keep killing everyone in order to start over again, every seven days *sigh*

As god I will command and go as far as turning back time with my godly powers and NEVER allow my only son Jesus be born in a barn or crucified for being a free thinker...

Let it be written, let it be done!

God shouldn't take any more responsibility for humans ruining the earth, then Jeffery Dahmer's parents would take for his horrendous deeds.

Atheist here so this is a difficult concept.

i would be a kind god and one who serves. i would stay out of the mix.
Priorities: End child abuse. Guns would not be allowed. Flags and national borders would not be allowed.
god would not need to be worshiped. god would bow to the people.

Commandments: Love, respect, serve, and care for all people no matter what. i would frown heavily on religion of any kind it only serves to divide ImO
What would be a sin: There would be no sin there would be law to deal with law breakers.
What would i do with very bad people: nothing it would be up to the people to make laws to deal with this.

I understand the part about not needing to be worshiped, but I think that
was something men came up with. I don't think (IMO) that that was something that came from God.
And it sounds like you would have done a good job.

stargazingboi 01-27-2014 10:00 PM

I've thought about this a great deal....I wrote out many things, then came to the realization...I really wouldn't want the job of being God.

AishasWrath 11-20-2015 07:58 PM

My views on this are very much influenced by the video game Asura's Wrath (I love that game so much...and yes my screen name is a reference to it.) If I became the next supreme deity of the world I would say "forget it" and let the earth govern itself. Nature does fine on its own. It's supposed to. Sure, things change a lot, but that balance of nature sustains itself. The times when it doesn't have come about through one nimrod or another trying to control or rule the world. Even if a supreme deity created it all (which I don't believe is the case,) I'd say the time has come to give it back to all the little animals that live on it, including humans. The French Revolution overthrew monarchy, the United States gained independence from Britain, why not be the deity that does the same for the entire planet? Let Mother Nature and her scientific principles/natural laws be the constitution and the many species be communities and states within it?

I wouldn't want to be prayed to either. I'd want all the creatures to know and trust in the power within themselves, instead of looking to a being they've set up as superior. Such a situation invites tyranny and disempowerment, and until a point can be reached where deities and mortals can manage true collaboration and interdependence, I don't think it's a good idea.

So many theorists talk about a state of nature like it's a hell, or a nightmare, but it's not! A state of nature, in its essence, is a democracy. It just seems bad to the kind of civilization that wants to set itself above everyone and everything else (i.e, the concept of a patriarchy. Patriarchies are all about trying to do this. I think in a lot of cases where the patriarchy theory holds true, it's not so much about male supremacy but human supremacy while seeing some humans as more human than others. This is why hearing sexists use evolution to justify their spurious claims puts me in RageSmash mode--because patriarchy came into being as a result of trying to place humanity outside of and above nature in the first place.)

TruTexan 11-20-2015 08:53 PM

What if God was one of the Syrian Refugees?
I think we'd be doomed to hell in a heart beat because people don't want to stand up and act humane and help those in need that are fleeing war torn countries that ISIS is destroying and murdering people in . Hell I'd leave too if I were them. I just don't understand this world today I guess I never will.
What if that were to happen in the US? would people not take us in as refugees? I've seen soo many negative posts online and from Republican politicians it's making my head swim. I had to go Click ! and shut it down and not watch anymore or read anymore on FB. Just makes me sick.

lets see ~ this is a very comical thread to me ~

1. this is a perfect title to a comedy.

2. with all that has gone and is going wrong ,would u admit if u were god ?

3. then again it also could be a drama, w/ amazing graphics.

4. good theme song could be "Loosing My Religion"

:cannabis: Good Morning ~ it's the coffee :))))))))
