I believe the documentary "The House I Live In" is streaming on Netflix now. Great documentary, if you get a chance to view it.

You got me thinking about the cliffhanger trend. That is so true. Having come from a childhood of enjoying programs like (some of them re-runs) Little House on the Prairie, Andy Griffith, Magnum PI, Simon & Simon, The Waltons etc, current American television shows tend to bring on a bit of stress. *Small rant* For me, that would be acceptable, if there was some guarantee of closure to a final season cliffhanger, when they cancel a series. I seriously feel that the FCC should make this a law. People invest time in 40 minute television series over several seasons, which for those who watch on cable, include 20 minutes of repetitive commercials (don't do the math of how much time you spend watching commercials while watching cable, because the fork desire will increase), and there should be some fucking consideration for their loyalty as viewers. *End rant* One of the big reasons I enjoy streaming so much, is that I can wait until there are several seasons of a show available, and I then I don't have to wait to find out what happens next (until I get to the end of the last available season). |
We watched Marwencol last night. She'd seen it. I hadn't. I thought it was pretty damned interesting. Followed it up with Exit Through the Gift Shop. We both liked it but she more than I. I kept waiting for Banksy to appear and say "It's me!" LOL

I bought each episode as it aired last season because I only had basic cable. Good thing Amazon keeps track of my purchases because apparently I cant even remember buying an entire season of a TV show! :| |

The Dark Matter of Love
"The Dark Matter of Love," which premiered this week at the Toronto International Film Festival, tells the story of the Diazes of Oregon, Wis., a family struggling to bond with their three adopted children from Russian orphanages. In "The Dark Matter of Love," McCarthy pulls the curtain back on Claudio and Cheryl Diaz, their teenage daughter Cami and their multiple trips to Russia to adopt Masha, 11 at the time, and twin brothers Vadim and Marcel, 5-year-old firecrackers. There's another journey related to "The Dark Matter of Love," one every bit as anxious as the Diazes' trips to Russia two years ago. |
Bag of Bones
Bag of Bones or Stephen King's Bag of Bones, is an American TV horror film adaptation of Stephen King's novel. Directed by Mick Garris from Matt Venne's screenplay, it was first aired in 2011 on the A&E Network in two parts. Best-selling novelist Mike Noonan and his wife, Jo, are unable to conceive children; Mike conceals that he has a low sperm count. Jo is killed by a bus while crossing a street. As she dies in his arms, Mike notices she bought a pregnancy test, and assumes that she may have been having an affair. Overcome by grief from her death, Mike develops a case of writer's block. He suffers a series of nightmares about his wife and their summer home on Dark Score Lake in Maine. On advice from his brother, Sid, Mike takes a trip to the summer house. Once there, he meets a young widow named Mattie Devore and her 6-year-old daughter, Kyra. Befriending them, he earns the ire of Mattie's estranged father-in-law Max Devore. Max has been trying to get custody of Kyra since Mattie shot his son Lance (Lance was trying to drown the child). Despite the turmoil, Mike begins to write again, but visions and nightmares lead him to believe he isn't alone. He finds that his wife's spirit is with him. He also detects the spirit of a 1930s singer named Sara Tidwell who plays records of her music. Sara also appears in dreams that Mike has of her last day alive in 1939. During his stay at the lake, Mike learns about "Dark Score Crazy," an apparent form of madness that caused several men in the town to murder their daughters by drowning them. |

A lot of the scenery is very similar to where I am now and I'm enjoying the descriptors. Reminiscent of the earlier Tony Hillerman series in many ways. |
I started watching Revenge with Madeline Stowe...its amazing. I cant believe I waited so long to watch it....
Im still on season 3 of Longmire. Im trying to make it last longer by taking a mini break. But I find myself craving to watch it.... |
I finished season 4 of Longmire yesterday, and I think the cliffhanger beats any cliffhanger, I have ever seen! I already miss Walt, Henry, Vic and the rest of the crew in Durant, Wyoming. I don't know what I will watch now.
|
I just watched The Monk and The Tiger, a documentary about a Buddhist monastery in Thailand, where they raise and care for tigers. I was fascinated by the story about how it came into being, and I don't think I will ever tire of watching the big cats, so I really enjoyed it. :)

Looking forward to checking out all the great series people are talking about, once I move and switch from cable to a streaming situation ... I don't even know the right words for it!

I just read that my Netflix brilliant crush, Robin Wright, negotiated to have equal pay with Kevin Spacey.
Kudos Robin! "Netflix’s smash hit ‘House of Cards’ has certainly left a lasting impression in her portrayal as the First Lady. Certainly the show could not go on without her, as she routinely steals the screen in one of the show’s best performances. I was looking at the statistics and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. So it would make sense that when Wright asked to be paid as an equal to Kevin Spacey, that she’d have a fighting chance in winning that argument, right?" This week, Wright was on stage at the Rockefeller Foundation talking about her role, and how she negotiated equal pay as her counterpart. The Huffington Post was on scene at the event, and got some great quotes from her Q&A session. "I want to be paid the same as Kevin,’” said Wright. “It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in ‘House of Cards.’ I was looking at the statistics and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, ‘You better pay me or I’m going to go public,’ And they did." http://exstreamist.com/house-of-card...-for-her-role/ |
Bloodline, season 2!
There are so many threads that have been started on streaming sites, it is difficult to know where to post!
If anyone has watched the very good season one of Bloodline on Netflix, I finally found that season two is starting. Great series about a super dysfunctional family in Florida. It has suspense, drama, murder and everything you could sink your teeth into for some great binge-watching. It has a stellar cast with terrific acting. From Deadline Hollywood: Playing brothers on different sides of the law, Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn earned Emmy noms for the first season of the family drama set in the Florida Keys. Linda Cardellini, Sam Shepard, Sissy Spacek, Norbert Leo Butz, Jamie McShane, Jacinda Barrett and Enrique Murciano also star. KZK Productions and Sony Pictures Television produce for Netflix The Netflix series’ 10-episode second season will premiere on May 27. |
I'm addicted to Lost Girl on Netflix. The main character is a bisexual female and there are numerous scenes that I found to be a turn on.

I watched the free pilot on Vudu this afternoon for Robert Kirkman's new series Outcast.
I was not familiar with the comic of the same name but it was good. Creepy and a with kind of an Exorcist trope, but albeit, well done. The pilot will be repeated on Cinemax June 3rd. Posting info here in case anyone wants to stream it on Vudu now. |
Just wanted to say, Bloodlines is an awesome show...I've been waiting for the new season to finish the first. I hate being left hanging...
Ps Sissy Spacek has been a long standing girl crush... :) |
