Nanarama Smoothie!

3 frozen bananas
handful frozen grapes
2 pcs frozen pineapple
5 frozen strawberries
2 heaping teaspoons Hemp seeds
2 pitted dates
1-1/2 c cold water

Blend til smooth. You may have to think it as it can appear more like ice cream! It's scrumptious!!

kittygrrl 12-02-2016 02:51 PM

Pumpkin Smash!

Add to blender:
1/2 c peeled and diced raw pumpkin
1/3 c frozen grapes
2 large frozen bananas chopped
1 slice frozen pineapple
4 pitted dates
1 (Heaping)Tbsp Hemp seeds (hulled)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract or 1/2 scrapped vanilla seed pod
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
about 1 1/2 c. cold water or coconut milk (not the canned kind!)
***
sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice for top

Add all ingredients (except sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice) to high speed blender and blend til smooth. This makes enough for two. Serve in tall glasses with a generous sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice. I wish I could share some with you. It's soooooooo good-I mean AMAZING good!!..I was surprised! I modified it from a recipe from Kate Flowers ebook. Her recipes are wonderful, I just improvised it to suit my taste. ENJOY!!

This week I'm making smoothies with ....

– Celery
– Dandelion greens
– Collards
– Green Kale
– Cucumbers
– Fresh Turmeric
– Fresh Ginger
– Apples

Someone told me I should add some purple food to my smoothies. Maybe next week I'll get some purple kale, but I'm happy with this concoction. I don't think I'd like making smoothie with eggplant.

Is Eggplant considered purple? Its flesh is rather pale yellow...

I really don't know. These are some of the foods that pop up when I search for purple food:

I can always add cabbage, I guess.

My vote is for plums or red/purple grapes plus blueberries. Blueberries are a an excellent super food. I have them nearly every day.

That sounds absolutely delicious. I will see about getting flavored protein powder, next time I go shopping. Plus, for those like me who have milk allergies (lactose intolerance), I will see if I can make it with Almond milk and use shredded coconut to aid in binding the smoothie.

Your smoothie sounds good too, minus the spinach *lol*.
But your spinach idea? I was thinking that maybe a green smoothie made with spinach might be paired with spirulina, pear, banana, pineapple, celery and filtered water? I'm gonna try that making that kind of green soothe soon. I loved your smoothie idea, though!

I think you asked a great question about using prunes in a smoothie, cathexis! I love freshly picked Italian prunes or any sort of dried plum or prune. I'm wondering if prunes could be paired off with cheeries, raspberries, pears and filtered water, apple juice and then use some sort of protein powder that will add as an binder, yet give the smoothie a slick kick of protein too? I don't know of any recipes, but it's fun to create smoothies that you can't find anywhere else, but in your own kitchen!

Cheers to new smoothie recipes! :)

cathexis 05-16-2017 01:00 AM

Katzchen,
Sounds great.
Next project, get a blender to make smoothies.
Already have protein powder to use in my shaker bottle (lame).

Thanks for the enticing ideas.

I use Prunes and Dates a lot to help sweeten or cover spinach, kale, or broccoli I have found nothing that will do much for a beet shake I keep trying to work out. Prunes have a lot of perks fiber, protein, low fat, vitamin K and several of the B's...

I love smoothies makes my breakfast fast easy and mobile and keeps me from the likes of Jack in The Box, too bad it does not help when I am already out for the day and want In and Out....

Well now don't I sound like a commercial? Anyways hope it's helpful.

kittygrrl 05-16-2017 10:19 PM

Ok cat...I think you can play with the dates in most recipe and replace them with prunes...I would try this...it's simple uncomplicated and you can take it to your outer limits!

2 cups Almond Milk
1 Tbsp. Flaxseed powder
2 frozen Bananas
2-3 Prunes
1/2 cup ice cubes
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Maple Syrup
cinnamon-raw sugar mix
Banana Slices
Blur til smooth. Top with sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and banana slices. Enjoy!

When I worked out and drank protein shakes, this is what I would always have, chocolate whey protein, peanut butter, banana, and almond milk.

No measuring, though.

The best!

To me, it just tastes just like a milkshake.
