Got a lot done this weekend:

Some Christmas shopping. :present:

Helping my folks decorate the house and putting up and decorating the tree. :smileyXmasTree:

Cleaning up the mess from decorating. :cuttree:

Went to my kid's house (she lives with her grandma) today and helped my daughter's boyfriend put lights on the house. :xmascandle:

Visited and had dinner with my kid, her boyfriend and grandma. :eating:

Got home and snuggled with the dog. :dog:

First, have some compassion. Open your eyes and look around to see that someone MIGHT be in pain this time of year.

I am one of those people. For, try as I might ~ and believe me, I DO ~ this time of the year IS very hard for me because I lost a child. We will never ever again share the joy of opening a present together under the tree.

Now I'm not asking for a pity party. I go through an entire year doing my best to deal so that people like you aren't uncomfortable.

There are very few things that make me see red. Congratulations. You did it.

I'm very sorry I hurt you. It wasn't my intention at all. take care.
Addendum: my post was totally misread. I guess it doesn't matter.

CAT-astrophe...

I've been feeling like shit over the weekend :cough: and still not up to par, so I decided to call in sick today. I figured I'd be a couch potato and catch up on some of my recorded DVR shows and rest. So here I lay snuggling with my comfy blankie, and remote in hand.

All of a sudden my boy cat decides to play Tarzan and climb the damn Christmas tree. He's spazzing out :playingcat: running back and forth, ornaments on the floor, and trying to eat the fake pine needles. :wtf:

I'm contemplating making some sort of barrier to go around the tree or even getting one of those gates, but he'll jump it. So much for me getting some rest. Not to mention this annoying cough..

Now he's sleeping sound, looking innocent and cute, :cat: like he didn't do a thing.

:rollcat: + :smileyXmasTree: = (me)

Tis the season!

My housemates' dog ate all the candy canes (leaving the wrappers all around the house for her slav....er, skin parents to pick up) at the bottom of the tree as well as a VERY rare, one of a kind wedding ornament. Let's say she is on their Naughty list.

:stocking:

Words of wisdom from an E-Mail

Enjoy the good things in life and don't worry about the
things we can not ever change...

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful
life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've
aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've
become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie,
or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I
didn't need, but looks so avant garde on my patio. I am entitled to a
treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too
soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the
computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to
those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish
to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched
over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I
choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful.
But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can
your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers,
or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts
are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart
never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of
being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my
hair turning that other colour, and to have my youthful laughs be
forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed,
and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You
care less about what other people think. I don't question myself
anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

I like being older. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time
lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it).

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE:pile:
AND IN YOUR HEART :cheer:FOREVER AND EVER!:amsmiling:

Hi Irish,

He did that years ago when he was a kitten. We had to put the tree out on our enclosed porch that year. Since that time, we've been pretty lucky. If I wasn't home, I'm sure the tree would have been on the floor. He's a character the majority of the time and mischievous sometimes. Other than that, he's usually a good boy.

I'm sure when we get home from work tomorrow, the tree will be on the floor. I have cool glass candy cane ornaments that I'll have to take off.

How people can be depressed about the holidays?

Me too.

All sorts of social obligations, more than usual.

Endless lines at stores.

Money no one can afford having to be spent.

Whose family's feelings do we want to hurt this year?

Memories of those who are no longer with us.

I have to admit, I am pretty depressed about the whole thing and have yet to place my first Christmas ornament or buy my first present. Blah.

(OK....except for on Farmtown, what is wrong with me???)

Eddie 12-07-2009 03:18 PM

The only reason I get depressed around the holidays is because I have to spend them alone. Again.

Good point! I should be thankful for what I have.

I have done that a lot too, I am sincerely not sure which is worse.

One year a friend and I bought yummy food, made pretty red and green drinks and rented some good movies, to be honest, it is one of my fondest Christmas Day memories ever.

Reflections ....

It occurred to me the other night that this is going to be our fourth Christmas together. :xmascandle: I can't help but be amazed by my fortune of having the most wonderful woman in my life. :love1: Four years and I am still crazy in love. :heartbeat:

Hey Corkey, I already did that to distract him when he started chomping and climbing the tree. I think that made him more wild. :sigh:
