Just for a laugh at smokers and the things they do. I recieved this from a friend and thought I would share it here. I am glad that I will not be doing this when I am 80!

Not allowed to smoke inside, Jane and Arlene are outside their nursing home, having a drink and a smoke, when it starts to rain. Jane pulls out a condom, cuts off the end, puts it over her cigarette, and continues smoking.

Arlene: What in the hell is that?

Jane: A condom. This way my cigarette doesn't get wet.

Arlene: Where did you get it?

Jane: You can get them at any pharmacy.

The next day, Arlene hobbles herself into the local pharmacy and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a box of condoms.

The pharmacist, obviously embarrassed, looks at her kind of strangely (she is after all, over 80 years of age), but very delicately asks what brand of condom she prefers.

'Doesn't matter Sonny, as long as it fits on a Camel.'

The pharmacist fainted.

Whoa! I just got struck by a massive smoking urge!

What I realized the other day was that I replaced my smoking with drinking soda pop. Good grief! Today alone I must have drank 64 ounces!

Ok, I know know I am not normal! I went to the Doctor today for nothing major. They always weigh you.....I have actually lost 6 pounds since the last time I was there 3 months ago. I can't believe it, I have felt like I have gained 10 pounds easy, especially with all the soda pop I have been drinking recently. Go figure!

bigbutchmistie 08-01-2011 10:34 PM

Good Evening All :)

Have a nice night! Love this thread!

DamonK 08-01-2011 10:58 PM

I don't smoke much. Mostly at work. Typically at most, 5 cigarettes a day. I rarely smoke at home due to MBE's asthma.

The nicotine part is no problem for me to kick. For whatever reason, I never was hooked on that. The hand-mouth thing may prove to be a bit harder.

Ideas?

OK...it has been five months and five days since my last smoke. I have someone I love dearly just being handed his ass right now, and I found myself looking at my nightstand, looking for my cigarettes. As I looked, I found my stomach dropping out and realizing that I don't smoke anymore, and that thought was kind of frustrating. *Deep breath* Moving on, now.

Daktari 08-02-2011 04:11 AM

Keep the faith lilith

What does being handed your ass mean?

StillettoDoll 08-02-2011 04:50 AM

Day 23

This is the first time I have ever tried to quit smoking in 28 yrs. I have never been a heavy smoker maybe 1 or 4 a day occasionally a
whole pack, some days I wouldn't have any at all . Actually I have never enjoyed smoking at all . Its truly a compulsive behavior. I'm so happy now.:eyebat:
I didn't think I would get any withdrawal symptoms , but boy did I ever.
I just thought I was getting to old for this nonsence.:hospital-snoopy:

Hope I don't relapse

I went to the Doctor and he was very please that I quit smoking 9 weeks ago. He also pointed out that, I forget the exact number, but like 90% go back to smoking in the 1st year. You are getting there, keep strong!

Daktari 08-02-2011 06:34 AM

A big nicotine free welcome for the new contributors to the giving up smoking thread.

You lucky, lucky bugger. I wish I could have lost weight. Although I didn't start gaining until 6 months in. Long may the lack of weigh gain reign!

One of those plastic inhalator thingies might help. It's what helped break the hand to mouth habit for me. In the end I didn't even need the nicotine cartridge, just the plastic bit. It took weeks rather than months to break the habit. I liked that it didn't look like a ciggie so was helping break visual cues too.

Woohooo StillettoDoll. You can do it and you won't relapse unless you want to. As I keep saying, there are no reasons to start smoking again, only excuses. You're starting from a good point in that you don't enjoy smoking and you don't smoke much but I bet those habitual ciggies are still hard to give up.
