ATC

Art trading cards.
Simply put..your art on a 3.5 x 2.5 card. It can be elaborate or very simple. All medias can be used. Paint, crayons, stamps, glue, stickers, words ...what ever is your art. Or what ever supplies you have. Collage, symmetry, abstract which ever way your creativity takes you. Google or check out Pinterest. You can even see tutorials on YouTube.

Come on people (yes you)..its fun! Step outside of that pandemic bubble!!

I'll be willing to do a quick 4-5 week turn around of Halloween ATC cards. Any one interested?? Very easy peasy, to at least bring our supplies out of lock down!

Maybe a December Holiday one to follow??

I'm with FSF on the December project. It's the holidays and too close to this one if we do it, but I'm totally game for a Halloween project and I love ATCs.

I don't know about a December craft project. The holidays are a hectic time and usually the card exchange keeps me busy enough. The Halloween ATC project though sounds fun. Oh I was just asking myself what I might make out of things I have on hand or supplies that wouldn't be too spendy and in a flash it came to me! If we do a week for sign up, and around the same number of people who've participated in the past join in this round I could do it in a four or five week window of time, though five would be better. Anyone else interested?

Interested!

Artist Trading Cards. They are typically 2.5 x 3.5 inches in size although we sometimes play with that. Basically, it's a tiny painting or mixed media piece.

Artist trading cards 2.5" x 3.5" - little mini pieces of art work. Wrangler picks a theme, that's your inspiration/direction and from there you run with it wherever your mind takes you.

Something to keep in mind if we're going to do a Christmas card exchange....

Systemwide changes at the U.S. Postal Service, including planned service slowdowns take effect in the beginning of October!

This slowdown will effect seventy percent of first-class mail sent to Nevada, 60 percent of the deliveries to Florida, 58 percent to Washington state, 57 percent to Montana, and 55 percent to Arizona and Oregon. In all, at least a third of such letters and parcels addressed to 27 states will arrive more slowly under the new standards.

Gemme 10-08-2021 09:57 PM

Is the ATC project still in consideration, Besame? Maybe blend the card project and ATC project to make one December project? Or maybe a Winter project in general?

I say get allllll your mail out NOW, folks.

Also, if anyone still has their list that I sent out, I lost mine in the great server crash of 2021. I'd appreciate a copy if anyone still has one. Thanks!

How about, dead line, Nov 15th? I'll turn around addresses in 48 hours, so we can get Holiday salutations out by early Dec. We need to spread holiday cheer amongst ourselves!!!
Send me your address in a private message. Also mention what Holiday(s) you celebrate.
I will send a return private message with addresses and any other information.

So far I've recieved just one, from Homoe, thanks! All of mine went out, but a bit late, so if you haven't recieved anything from me yet they're probably still on their way.

No, not that I'm aware of. Did you have anything in mind?

A long time ago we did a postcard list. I really enjoyed that. But I’ve never wrangled anything.

FireSignFemme 10-09-2022 10:49 PM

How about an Autumn, Fall Harvest, Halloween whatever, in that vein card exchange? I don't have the energy, funds to do a craft project now but cards I could manage. Mine would be store bought, well Etsy bought but those who wanted to could make theirs if they were up to it, feeling crafty. Postcards would work. What are people's thoughts?

It would be really nice to have a seasonal/holiday card exchange!

FireSignFemme 10-12-2022 11:46 AM

Then let's do it! I've never wrangled anything before but I could help in other ways like maybe stamps or..., anyone up to it?

Soft*Silver 10-13-2022 11:20 AM

I would definitely participate! I can’t wrangle because my job is overwhelming. I’m so busy in a good kind away but I really don’t have the mind energy to devote to any other project but work But yes, I will participate!

Gemme 10-13-2022 07:26 PM

I could wrangle it. Any ideas on the parameters?

deb0670 10-14-2022 12:46 AM

i would love to participate!!

FireSignFemme 10-14-2022 02:06 PM

Any sort of fall themed card. Though it would be nice it wouldn't have to be a holiday card. Just anything to do with fall, Autumn each person deciding for themselves what they'd like to send. If someone wants to make theirs or include anything go for it! Just nothing that would require more than a standard postage stamp or two to mail out and nothing that wouldn't mail out flat. Well those are my thoughts but I'd like to hear from others and in the end have group consensus rule the day.

Thanks for wrangling, Gemme, and thanks for the idea, FSF.

I'm in and am open to the parameters.

Gemme 10-16-2022 09:19 AM

Good ideas, FSF.

I definitely agree that each person's contribution should be flat and easy to mail.

For those that haven't participated in one of these kind of round robin-esque projects before, as the wrangler, everyone would need to get their names and mailing addresses to me by a specific date. Once all projects are in to me, I repackage them and re-mail so that everyone gets one from everyone else by a pre-determined date. This ensures that everyone gets a piece in a timely manner. Each participant would send me funds to cover the re-mail. In the past, it's typically been $5 for smaller projects. This covers not only the new postage but the repackaging materials (envelopes, tape, etc) the wrangler uses to get them back out.

I'm all about artistic freedom (and I'm not feeling the 'card' vibe at the moment) so I would suggest that as long as each person's contribution is no larger than 5x7 (can be smaller) and is flat with no embellishments that would hinder a flat mailer, all options are open.

Fall is my favorite season for certain so I love that but would like to suggest a general theme of "Changing Seasons". It's likely we won't do both a fall and winter project before the end of the year so those who love fall can lean into that and those who are excited about winter have options too. What say ye?

If everyone that wants to participate is open to these parameters, how about these dates?

Deadline for sign up: 10/24
Deadline to have projects in my greedy little hands: 11/12
Deadline for me to re-mail the projects out: 11/16

I want to give myself plenty of time to get everything organized and also to be able to dust everything with disinfectant spray before repackaging so for those who make their goodies, please seal it if the materials used are water-activated.

Plus, I think it would be really nice to get these back to you before Turkey Day.

Does this sound feasible? It is a shorter turn around than we typically do. If it's agreeable, I'll pop back in later tonight and put the official project parameter post up (and people will be able to sign up at that time). If there are any changes that need to be made, I can make adjustments or we can talk about it some more.

When signing up, PLEASE check to make sure you are quoting the most recent list before adding your name to ensure the list is accurate. I won't be chasing people. We're all grown ups, so if you want to participate, your name needs to be on the FINAL list. I will give a countdown before the final deadline and I 100% encourage you to reach out to any of our previous crafters who may not be aware that we're gearing up for a project now. The only caveat is if the list becomes too large, the funds may go up a smidge, but we would cross that bridge when we come to it.

I'm a little rusty, but I think I covered everything. Crafty veterans? Did I miss anything?

Gemme 10-16-2022 07:46 PM

Since there's been no activity in here, I'll wait a day or two to see if there are any other suggestions, criticisms, comments, et cetera....but don't wait too long to sign up once the list goes up!

I would love to do fall and/or winter craft!!!

Sign me up when you make a list & parameters, pls Ms. Gemme!!!

Sounds good to me. Oh I should mention, my cards are kind of creepy. So fair warning if you're not into that just let me know. I have lots of sun shiny happy stuff around here I could send too.

GeorgiaMa'am 10-19-2022 06:02 PM

I love creepy AND sun shiny, so either or both is great for me.

I am definitely interested in participating, and I will sign up when you get ready, Gemme!
