the squeal for cake the helping each other make crafts the spontaneous game of hide and seek where all 12 kids get in the closet (how is that hide and seek I'll never know) the boys at the party hiding under Dani's bed (flash forward oh no!) the kids getting together and hiding in her room and giving her another "surprise" happy birthday song. totally random croquet game in very windy weather my girl giving up her treat bag yo-yo to a friend and making it all better. the parents saying wow I'd be going crazy right now... |

two little boys came over to see if my 9 year old daughter could come out to play *smiles* shes making friends.

Kids say the darnedest things... The other day at work this little boy was NOT happy about having to get a haircut and the stylist he ended up with is honestly not so good with children. Anyway, she begins his cut and as she runs the clippers by his ear and he see's the hair fall he says... Oh my goodness, I can hear now... that is why I couldn't hear the hair was covering my ear. Then he asks her in a very sincere voice if she is going to use the clippers by his other ear because he would like to hear out of that one too... the sad part of this is she didn't *get* what he was saying and everyone else did... He went from this little boy who didn't want a haircut to a very excited little guy once he thought that the hair not being over his ears made him able to hear... This is one of the reasons I love my job so much...

after having a bug and prescribed an antibiotic that caused an allergic reaction.

Getting the babysitter lined up for an overnight trip. Eeekkkk! All giddy and grown up holiday away. Just one night off.. incredible.

I woke up today in my own apartment, in my own bed, with nobody else around. I made coffee in my underwear, toasted nobody in particular with my mug and listened to some music without having to explain or apologise.
That made me smile. |

My nine year old daughter has her first real friend. Back and forth from house to house and all involved... as such... I have my first real mommy friend. I spent 30 min on the phone with the mom today, talking about the community, our scary neighbors, and setting up her daughter coming to my house one day next month so she can go to an appointment out of town.
I have wanted a mom friend for a while now, I am so excited. |

Playing wall ball with a special needs 5th grader made me smile today.
|
My son being helpful and capable...offering to help me figure out the stuck sliding glass door...and being calm, patient and involved as we figured it out.
After some WD-40 and coordinated push/pull....we got it open, after months and months of it being stuck closed. Then we cleaned out the tracks, lubricated the whole thing...and it works like a charm. As soon as we finished he offered to do the others. I told him yes, but we would wait for daylight. :) It was so nice to feel the breeze and fresh air in the master bedroom again. :) He's turning into a wonderful young man....not only an honor student, but really stepping up to help me around the house and generally without even being asked. I'm proud of him. |
Sitting by my Peaceful Pond, 54* out... night air very fresh and still...savoring my butter pecan icecream with the star light twinkling off the glass-still water ...the reflections look like a gateway to another world... thinking this would make a great makeout spot...
Now I'm curled up in bed with two love-puppies cuddled in my lap... |
