This week I start focusing on calcium intake. I have sodium down to great levels unless we go out to eat dinner - and my other vitamins are pretty fantastic due to fresh fruits and veggies - so now I tackle the calcium hurdle. I've even bought milk. I don't like milk, but man is it a good source of calcium and vitamin D so yeah - I will deal with 4 - 8 ounces a day as needed.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Silk Almond Milk has twice as much calcium....

I love their soymilk :) Since I am having issues eating since I got my braces, I've been drinking a lot of milk, yogurt, rice, beans and thin bread until I go back on June 29th.

I've noticed since I moved out of the negative apartment and got a long haired Chihuahua, who loves going for walks; I am starting to loose weight again and my ex sister-in-law noticed it on Sunday. I came home feeling like I was on cloud nine :)

I really hate that point in losing weight when your friends and coworkers are starting to notice (I'm pretty sure it's just because I got new smaller clothes), but the scale doesn't seem to agree with them.

I've been at a standstill for 3 weeks now, but suddenly people are saying, "You look like you're losing weight!"

Hey, Grumpy Diva!

RE: your friends' and coworkers' annoying compliments on your weight loss—

You might be "tightening up," or redistributing weight. Or trading muscle for fat, which takes up less volume but weighs more.

Or...your scale might be playing mind games with you.

Or...you're really dressing smart (I consistently wear clothes that are too big for me, but when I wear my true size, I look smaller).

Whatever it is, enjoy, if you can!

2 pounds up from 8 days in Atlanta/New Orleans... considering what i had that's not too bad, but i can say my skinny jeans were screaming at me when i put them on at the end of the trip!

This week has been a gift from the gods... previous 5 weeks it's been about a pound a week... this week so far it's 3 pounds O.o.

YAY!

45 min on the elliptical, and another 30 swimming laps in the pool this morning. I feel great!

I found the thin wheat bread from Pepperidge Farms. It has 110 calories for three slices..which is around 73.3 calories for two pieces and I have a teaspoon of nutella on it. I found the nutella to be easier to digest than peanut butter. I also have a 3oz cup -demitasse cup- that I use to drink coffee out of. I drink two of these through out the day instead of at once.

Good Morning Healthies..

Quite anxious for my next weigh in.. (June 25)
i realized my eating plan has needed a little work..
As weight loss happens, needs change..
And as exercise increases, things change..

So working on getting to know my body's needs again..
my injury is healed and have been running everyday..
Plus Candace helped me with some circuits for toning..

i feel much difference in my body, the way clothes fit & my attitude.
SO happy i am back on track, finallllly !

Off to grocery shop soon!
Mr Mtn made me a grocery list ♥
i'm so grateful for Him!

Found this recipe earlier this week and have been thinking about it ever since. I was going to wait until next weekend to cook it because Gillian has to work this weekend - but I'm thinking at this point.. she'll just have to suck it up.. this is not going to wait until next weekend.

I found a recipe for black bean and sweet potato chili. My coworker made it and it was delicious! I'll post the recipe once I get home today :)

I was proud of myself tonight... ran late due to a meeting and was very pressed for time in regards to getting Gillian fed before she headed off to work. My first thought was well hell now would be a good time to splurge and get a whopper. Next thought was or even better... hot wings! I ran down a very unhealthy orgy of food choices before I ultimately decided to call her, and ask her get showered before dinner instead of after... this made it so I had time to make roasted cauliflower and nuke a couple of veggie riblets.

Yay!

So now my calories for the day will only be just over 1200.

Tawse 06-23-2012 07:26 PM

I believe in rewarding yourself when you hit certain weight milestones. Obviously IMO this should not be with some kind of comfort food splurge. To me that just kinda reinforces the belligerant kid in our heads who thinks this is punishment.

What I do instead is line up things I want to purchase. This time around I've lined up probably 200 dollars worth of kitchen knives / utensils / measuring equipment upgrades. All of them are varying amounts of money - with some only being 5 bucks - so I don't have to wait to hit some huge milestone to reward myself and I won't break the bank either.

I've decided to move away from the black and stainless format of most of my cooking supplies. I've selected multicolored knives, utensils, measuring cups and a checkerboard chopping block as well.

Gonna throw some color into my kitchen, make cutting and serving all this good stuff fun and exciting.

5 - 6 more pounds before I hit my first goal of 10% weight loss.

Now I need to figure out which item to get...

Hello healthies :)

One of my strategies for eating healthier is to make sure there's an abundance of fresh fruit and veggies in the house. Snack and I hit the farmer's market today and came home with:
  • corn on the cob
  • creamer potatoes
  • onions
  • peaches
  • tomatoes
  • kiwi
  • pineapple
  • cantaloupe
  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • asparagus
  • mesclun salad greens
  • cheese rigatoni
  • organic marinara sauce
  • radishes
  • mangoes
  • plums
  • apples
  • papaya
  • fresh italian bread

I made a big fruit salad for mid-afternoon snack with strawberries, bananas, oranges, apples, kiwi and mango. For dinner, we had the rigatoni with marinara, steamed fresh asparagus and some of the yummy italian bread.
