I've been doing something to the project nearly every day for a couple of weeks or so now so I won't have any timing issues, especially since mine is crossing the border. Actually, it will likely be received around the 15th, not just mailed out. It's nice to be ahead of the game for once! It's been working out pretty well. It's like a time lapse video in very slow motion. lol

Well, apparently one should not craft when so dog tired you don't even remember doing what you did until the next day, when everything is dry and sealed. Ooops.

I did something that I am not able to repair and I haven't been able to locate another base to start over (very specific), so I have had to rework my concept a little bit and go 'around' the issue. It still looks interesting but it has made things much harder for me since I accidentally skipped 4 steps and now have to figure out how to go back and make it not only interesting but pretty.

Pretty is my goal. I still have time and I worked on it earlier today, so I think it will come out well. I hope the recipient likes it. :)

ahk 07-03-2014 07:27 PM

I already sent mine out last friday- it was going to Canada and should be there or soon. Hopefully the recipient will notify me to say so.

Mine is going out Monday!

Bèsame* 07-04-2014 08:56 AM

Oh, I've put in at least 5 hours into it and have about 3 more to go. I'll be searching for a treasure to go inside;)

Oh the puzzles....http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...icrossword.jpg

Medusa 07-05-2014 06:34 PM

I got my puzzle project from nycfem and it was FABULOUS!! Seriously one of the most amazing pieces of art that I own now!!

Mine is 99% done. Just need to locate a certain type of something (which will be easy but will require a trip to a craft store) and get it mailed out! Mine will arrive before July 15th. (maybe by the end of this week!

Zimmeh 07-06-2014 10:55 AM

I need to pick up one thing formy project and it will be finished and mailed out on Thursday!

Mine was posted on Monday ..... and to continue with the puzzle theme, here's a clue to where it is headed ..... OUTSIDE OF CANADA!

Gemme 07-08-2014 08:01 PM

My puzzle project went out early this morning. I hope it's not humid in Canada right now, otherwise my work might stick together.

Again.

Oy.

Anyway--the idea is to use one of the little match boxes where it is a box with the little drawer that slides out with the matches in there. You take the matches out, then both decorate the outside of the box and fill the inside with contents/little treasures. They are usually done around a theme, such as a color. So the outside would be decorated mostly green, for example, then filled with little green items. The match boxes are so awesome! It's like getting a mini treasure box.

So anyway, just wanted to volunteer the explanation of what they are. If Tommie wrangled, obviously he can suggest whatever theme or anything else he wants. Just seemed like no one had really heard of these before. I'd be very excited to do these again!!! Also, I like the idea of wearable art.

Tommy Would we be doing one for every one or one for l person? If one for every one would there be extra time? I Would need extra time as I am very far behind on life. The only child is home until July 19. which is a good but time consuming

okieblu 07-10-2014 12:23 PM

Tommi--

Could you post a link to that template please?

ahk 07-10-2014 02:47 PM

You don't need templates for match boxes. If you mess around with figuring out how to cover them, it can be done. If you're also doing little boxes, they shouldn't take too mich time. I find the most time consuming part is filling the little boxes with goodies.

If you need a template- just google - matchbox template

It's pretty simple and really fun!

CCB and I did a swap recently of altered matchbox, maybe she can post a pic of what was received.

Anyways, I look fwd to doing a swap soon. I bought lots of new paper and paint. The only thing I really need to do is get some small items to cram in box. Thanks Tommi for wrangling this idea.

Here are two different methods.

http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/772

The second link shows ideas of what to fill boxes with.

Swapbot is a good reference. Martha Stewart also has odeas. Do your research now, so you have an idea and you don't get behind.

Get set......

I was hoping we could have a list and exchange with everyone, versus getting and making just one.

Shall we vote?

(even though we don't start an official list till the 15th)

As far as time...if you can't make the deadline, I can send you/rs individually whenever.

Exchange with everyone on the list.

Here is a good one:
"""These templates are free for your use to make craft items to give or sell, to use for teaching purposes, or for submitting projects to magazines.
I would appreciate it if you provide a link to my Web site. """
