Bugs? No bugs? Pen or pendant? No jewelry?

This is just for me, so I know a little better what I'm going to do for each person.

Thanks y'all.

Why don't you just send them each a private message?

OMG! I never knew how difficult it would be for me to get my hands on some matchboxes! Every store I've been to: sold out. Except the huge ones with the long matches and I don't want those. No idea when the next shipment will be. How many people in this state are playing with matches???

Grrr...the only place I found that had the plain, white ones (because if it's come to me ordering them online, then I'm getting the good ones, dammit) is in the UK. So, my boxes will arrive mid-August.

Of course, by then I will have found some locally.

Because my life runs according to Murphy, this is how it will be.

So, I'll do the project twice and send the set that I like better.

Wee.

Whatever your heart desires (minus pendant/jewelry part).

I was going to suggest Amazon, but was beat to it.
Good call, Nanners.

Gemme, have you tried the dollar stores?

Gemme, I think people are wanting to make altered matchboxes. Or they are good to put in an airtight jar for Mergencies....like umm. Hmmm. In an emergency should we be lighting matches...anyway,

I looked for the plain ones at all the usual places. No luck. On line was too expensive, so.

bought regular little matchboxes at Smart & Final. 99 cents for 6,

Kaijira bought hers at Von.

Maybe HomoDepot? I though about making them, but that went out fast as the lights.

Someone I know is already in mass production :rrose:

I bought two packs of 10 boxes in each at Publix SuperMarket!!!

GEMME...wanna trade some match boxes for a can of Valdosta pecans....snickers....I can't find them in walMart here...:(.

Grocery stores? In the section they keep the charcoal, or maybe picnic supplies? Target? Walmart?

Lowe's has them here, I think you can check their site for locally available.

Those are the exact ones that I ordered. They are from London, sweet girly, so they will take up to 3 weeks to get to me.

Not yet. I have tried Wal-Mart and stores along those same lines. They carry the packs of 10 but they are all. sold. out.

Like I said, someone in RI is playing with matches.

I'm sure your lovely lady is stirring the creative juices something fierce, Tommi!

I don't want to do the DIY version. I trust manufacturers much better than I trust myself.

No Von, Smart & Final or Publix here. I tried our version, Job Lot, to no avail.

I'll check the home improvement stores although I expect that they will carry the water resistant ones that come in a completely different sized container than what I want. The box stores tend to carry their matchboxes and matchbooks in more than one area. The picnic section (paper products aisle), the housewares section and the camping section. The only section that had the size I wanted was housewares.

You can order it from Wal-Mart online or Amazon, clay. :)

I checked one but we have a couple in the area. I'll keep my eyes open.

My beef was that I have today off so I was trying to find some yesterday to begin my journey. I've got everything else I need (and then some!) except the actual boxes.

I was surprised that Michael's did not carry them either. Every time I go in there, it seems as if they carry less and less of what I need.

Sad face!

I was lucky..I found mine at Hobby Lobby, on sale!

I like bugs, so as long as no actual bugs were injured in the making of the project, that's good with me. Not big into jewelry, so no need for pen or pendant. I like to have little trinkets sitting on bookshelves, desks, etc. But if making it in jewelry works better for your project, I'd prefer a pendant.

Can't wait!

I'm great with whatever you choose to make ;-). Everything has to come through customs here, nothing 'living' makes it through without extra paperwork

amiyesiam 07-28-2014 11:22 AM

I am using the template. They are all cut out. I will see how it goes. Assembly will start in August. I am still trying to get July stuff caught up.

I just can't bring myself to give them money due to their political beliefs against women's issues and our community in general.

:(

It's okay! I've marked off Stop 'n Shop and my closest Home Depot, Lowe's and Target but I'll keep tabs on the inventory of all of those stores. In the meantime, I'm laying things out as I'll need them so when the boxes do come, I'll be able to engage in an assembly line process which will eliminate some time.

I'll make it work! :)

That's wild... I would never have thought to look in Hobby Lobby or any other craft store.

okieblu 07-29-2014 08:41 AM

I haven't bought my match boxes yet, so here's hoping I can find them okay when I do. I'm going to have to go with the larger size, for what I want to do, as I'm not real great working that small anymore-my hands shake too much. Still getting material-or rather, waiting for my packages to come in from supplies trades I've been doing. That and a little money. I REALLY want to get started on this!
Wish me luck!

okieblu 07-29-2014 05:05 PM

Matchboxes!!!

Does anyone still need matchboxes? If so, pm me. I've got a bunch I need to pass on.
