Zimmeh 06-13-2010 07:33 PM

Good Evening Everyone,

I had a good day today! My best friend and I decided lawn work was a way not to sleep. She showed me how to use the electric hedge hog machine, I cracked up laughing, and asked if she trusted me with power tools,:blink:. The hedges are still standing and all of my fingers are accounted for. I was outside for 3 hours and came back in red from the previous sunburn I got and I even put sunblock on again and that didn't help.

Hope you all had fun this weekend and lazy mornings are always nice!!

Sweet dreams and see you all in the morning,

Zimmy

Zimmeh 06-14-2010 06:13 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

I see that I am the first one up and running around...For breakfast today, I think we should have some yummy pancakes with all of the toppings, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, orange juice, milk, sodas, tea and plenty of coffee<decaf, regular and extremely strong, which I can smell brewing>..

Hope you all have fun today!

Zimmy

freyja 06-14-2010 06:13 AM

Good morning kitchen peeps,

i can't believe i am the first in here this morning.
First things first >>>>>> coffee

How about i put out some breakfast items and Zimmy of Jo can add when they get up.
They sure know the right things to offer :)

A simple freyjabreakfast looks like this:
Harvest Crunch granola, 2 % milk, fresh raspberries, wholegrain toast, with butter (yes!) and homemade grape jelly.
And a small glass of orange juice.

And to get my feet tapping under the table, this song should do the trick:

cinderella 06-14-2010 06:56 AM

Mornin' Jo's kitchen folks! Freyja told me somethin' was cookin' here in the kitchen, so I'm swinging by to see what's going on. I am famished! Cereal for dinner last night, so I sure could use a hearty breakfast. Freyja, girl, that's a very nice and healthy breakfast, and if I wasn't so hungry, I sure could go for it. But this morning, I'm leaning more toward eggs, ham, pumpernickel toast w/butter, and coffee!! Make mine Starbucks Espresso blend with low-fat half&half, and a spoonful of organic sugar. Thanks so very much! Yummo!!!

Zimmeh 06-14-2010 07:22 AM

Good Morning Cinderella,

Have you tried Starbucks French Roast coffee? If you like a strong coffee, you should try it!

Welcome to the thread and have fun today,

Zimmy

Good Morning everyone!! Coffee is on strong french roast and all the fixins for breakfast. Having my second cup of coffee right now here in school.

cinderella 06-14-2010 08:23 AM

Hey, Zimmyglrl!! Yes, I used French Roast for several years, now I graduated to the Espresso blend 'cause the FR wasn't doing it for me anymore. I'm Spanish, and grew up with Bustello espresso...got the espresso bean in my blood!! lol

Morning, kitchen dwellers (f)

The heat index is going to be 105 here in west-central Florida today. Needless to say, if you need me, you'll find my happy ass out back in the pool, lol.

Have a great day!

good afternoon kitchen dwellers have all afternoon into evening today to go through so I will definitely need coffee, had two classes three more to go that's insane but its almost over just one more week.

JoSchmooze 06-14-2010 03:25 PM

And here I am stuck in Wisconsin with a heat index of only 50!
Misty and damp, but then I should be used to it after a week in Oregon!

I think I need more than coffee this afternoon! :cigar2:

Good evening Kitchen dwellers, how was everyone's day...Good I hope. Had dinner now its time to watch some mindless tv and tomorrow is another day. Have to write a paper on some anemia my group doesn't do a thing so tired of it. Wish I had some older people in my class. The immaturity is getting to me.

freyja 06-15-2010 04:58 AM

Goooooood morning and welcome to the Tuesday edition of Jo's Kitchen Party :D

An early bird this morning - - i shall leave out a selection and let the other girls finish off the buffet.
It is so good to be part of the breakfast club *smiles*

First, and you all know this is my priority --> coffee; dark with a robust flavour.
Then: a platter of fruits; strawberries, cherries, green seedless grapes, orange wedges, pineapple chunks.
Next to that: homemade tea biscuits made with sour cream, mini carrot muffins and bakery croissants; butter and three fruit marmalade on the side.
Hot foods include: ham, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns.

Mmmm, okay i think that will start the table off nicely.
Waiting on Zimmy and Jo to put out some more food.
We might see a nice crowd in here this morning and it's good to be prepared.

And......as our crowd has been enjoying the provided genre of music lately, let's see how Boy George makes you all feel starting your day.

Have a good one all.

Good morning ~

Passing through for coffee!

JustJo 06-15-2010 06:16 AM

Good morning friends :) and welcome to the kitchen Freckle...we're always happy to have folks join us :rrose:

:bringcoffee: Just checking to be sure the coffee pot is full, and putting on some hot water for :tea: as well. I know lots of us come in here in need of a little :coffee: time...but if Boy George doesn't perk them up, well I just don't know what will :giggle: As always, a lovely music selection Freyja. Maybe Musicman will hear it and decide to pop in too... :vigil:

Looks like it's going to be a nice day here...it's not yet 60 degreees, but the sun is out and the sky is blue, so that's a good start.

Scoote will have to come in here and tell you all about her shark adventure (really!) yesterday :| Right now I'm sure she's still :alarm: ...so I'll just virtually tip-toe in to give her a little :lips: ...she's still got a little longer before she has to get up for work. :stillheart: love you baby....

Hmmm....breakfast sounds wonderful already....just wondering if folks might like a little bacon, and oooo what about waffles? I can slice up some strawberries and sweeten them up just a tad too...and whip some cream...yummy! :) :linecook:

I'm ready to :girleating: Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

From New Jersey :veggie::bouquet:to California :fastdraq:, fresh coffee aroma is jangling me out of bed..

Ever heard of Blue Bottle coffee?
A friend of mine orders it fresh roasted & ground and shipped over night from San Francisco. MMm MMMM Mmmm. She made an iced coffee that had to steep over night in a big pot :detective: and ...it was wonderful.

I'm doing the oatmeal, whole grain and and orange for breakfast. Shades of high cholesterol....OMG the Doc looked at me over her glasses, and did that Hmmm sound as she read my lab reports.

Glad to see you, and all the new folks as well, this morning :)

Wonder where zimmy and lips have gotten to....and hey, Mrs. Strutt never came back and told us about the hair show! And then Scoote has to come tell you all about the shark.....hmmmm.....might be popcorn and story night tonight! :cheesy:

Hellooo everyone, and life is good. Jus Sayin'
So Cal had a major shaker last night after 9. The lights flickered, the cable box shut off TV went out, and I worried that the coffee wouldn't be ready in time.

My 2 kiddy katz went to the vet yesterday and had their teeth cleaned. My 13 yr old TiggerGrrl had 5 teeth extracted due to cavaties and tarter.... and she looks miserable this morning. I guess buying her the bestest food didn't matter, I didnt have her brush everyday.I think I might have to stay home and take care of my kid....dy kat.:linus:.

Yawning...yeah..she is sleeping and getting ready would disturb her. Think I'll just lay on the couch for a few minutes...:vigil:

WOW..I love raisins in my oatmeal. I just had a plain ol' bowl of boring Quick oats with Splenda..

I am going to have to make a shopping list, per Doc's orders. She mentioned things like eating vegetables and fruit..exercise, and no Bad Carbs. I have never met a carb I didn't like.:mohawk:

I think Tigger will be okay without Daddy home to watch her sleep. so, off to get ready for work.

JustJo 06-15-2010 07:32 AM

Poor Tigger...I hope she feels better soon. That's gotta' hurt. I have never brushed my kitty's teeth :| ...does that make me a bad cat mom? Never even crossed my mind...

I hear you on the healthy stuff Tommi...when I got diagnosed with diabetes, and all the high blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides stuff as well...I had to go off the soda and fast food habit, and really increase the fruits and veggies and whole grains...plus I try to go for a walk every day. It's made a great difference in my overall health and does become a habit. The transition is tough though....

One thing that helped me was to find some healthy things that I love and feel like treats....like fresh berries and pineapple...and indulge myself with those instead. It isn't the same, I know...but it helps. :rrose:

Oh...and Banshee says meow and sends a nose rub to Tigger :cat:

Banshee:rollcat: nose rubs back attcha. I thought that eating hard food cleaned their teeth. Nope.Tigger is all curled up on a kitchen chair, not her usual top of the Crow's Nest on her cat tree. I just squirted her medicine in her mouth, and she just laid still.. After 10 they are sposed to see the vet for teeth cleaning . I skipped Tigger''s for a year and a hslf cuz they looked fine to me. But, I was not seeing her back molars ,and when the Vet showed me hear gums and teeth, it was not pretty.

WOW. thank you for the post above. Your post sounds like my doctor visit. , :she said I am pre-diabetic..or borderline, my cholesterol is high, my BP is high, and all the stuff that goes with it.

I am a fast food junky ( non-cook no excuse any longer) and I love my Diet Coke. I am going to have to really buckle down and do just what you did,/

" fruits and veggies and whole grains" shopping I must go. Bye, off to work, and no drivethru anymore.:fastdraq:

Zimmeh 06-15-2010 11:54 AM

Good Afternoon Tommi,

I gave up soda cold turkey three years ago as a New Years Resolution. I was always tired, and was crazy overweight. As a result of giving up my three 20oz Cokes a day and no fast food, I lost 35lbs in three months. I have lost 50lbs in three years and I try to power walk atleast three miles a day<depends on the weather>.

Good luck and hoping your next dr visit is much better..Give your little Tigger a hug from me!

Try some dried cranberries in your oatmeal, that is what I like to eat as a snack and when I really want to be bad, I eat 72% to 85% dark chocolate. What they say is correct about dark chocolate. It naturally helps to lower your blood pressure and has plenty of antioxidants in it.

Have fun today!

Zimmy
