Quirks, scars and weird bits 'o trivia

One of my feet is bigger than the other. Noticeably so. At least to me.

I have psoriasis. Just a little bit in one spot. I'm very fortunate, since this condition tends to grow like Wandering Jude and spread fast and furiously, and I've only had it in one spot for over 20 years.

I've clenched my teeth as a stress coping mechanism since I was 5 and one side of my teeth are shorter than the other due to the set of my teeth as I clench them. I also grind my teeth in my sleep sometimes.

I have scars that in shapes and places that one might think that I might remember where they came from, but I don't.

I found a paper showing a workup of me and what nutrients I needed and my weight, etc from when I was 22. With the exception of about a year and a half's time peaking at 180, I've fluctuated between 135 and 145 for almost 15 years. That kinda makes me feel good, even though I know that things look different because of the distribution of the weight and gravity and all, but still....that made me happy today. :)

When I was much younger, I could get by in four languages. Now, I'm lucky to remember english. :)~

My favorite cookie is oatmeal raisin. Walnuts preferred.

I have a texture issue when it comes to certain foods. I won't eat anything slimy or raw.

I have a small collection of foreign money. It started when my mother gave me reichmarks as a kid and that triggered an interest in collecting foreign paper and coins.

I too, have an office supply fetish problem - especially when it comes to pens. I LOVE a nice pen. I can't pass a pen aisle without stopping.

1. If I don't get enough alone (me) time, I hit saturation and start thinking about cabins in the woods, being alone for the rest of my life, and that I'm not cut out to be in ANY relationship..

2.Sometimes I need to put head phones on and blast hard/ heavy metal to take me out of my head

3. I truely have a poly heart. It doesn't feel odd to me to love more than one person at a time.. It feel normal

4. While I like who I am, and am enjoying the gifts that being a dominant woman brings me, there is still a part of me that is a lil girl who yearns for a Daddy... But I don't like the head mess that letting that part of me come out in play brings.. So she stays tucked away.. Safe from harm and from leaving me twisting in the wind...

5. I'm kicking ass and taking names at work... My boss says that I have far surpassed her expectations and that I already do more than her last asst did. She thanked her boss for hiring me.. (unfortunately this comes at a cost.. I am drained and work obssessed)

Soft*Silver 07-30-2010 11:19 PM

I am obsessed with having silverware that matches, dinnerware that matches, linens that match, etc, all because we were poor farmers when i was a child and our stuff was what we could get. When I found out at the age of 18 that things came in sets, I became obsessed with making sure my house had sets everywhere

sometimes the pain in my body is so overwhelming I curl up in a ball and cry. And I dont like people to know that I cry, so most people in my real time, never really get to know how bad I hurt

I use to have sexual fantasies. Now I fantasize about moving without pain. No, seriously.

I hate tomato soup and any other kind of soup with a tomato base

I miscarried a child prior to my beautiful Elizabeth. I think of that child every day...

Gemme 07-30-2010 11:40 PM

I also miscarried.

I'm training my hair into a new style.

I love citrus and fruit scents, especially when they are combined.

An hour ago, I was standing outside of the house in my pajamas, holding a flashlight as my housemate and I looked down into the septic to figure out a recurring problem. It is not my idea of a good ending to a lovely day.

Rockinonahigh 07-31-2010 01:08 AM

Every October, I drag Doll to the Pow wow, where over 25 tribal councils gather and dance and sell arts and crafts for 2 weekends. I use to go to the big ones in Hawaii so I could hang out with the Iroquois Tribe from Vermont.
Father-Half Iroquois (My Grandmother full Iroquois Indian) (Grandfather Irish, Italian, German)
Mother-Hawaiian/Chinese mixed (Grandmother Hawaiian, Chinese, Navaho, Portuguese, Puerto Rican) (Grandfather Hawaiian, Apache.) And I am proud of each and every Nationality that I have. Im a Poi Dog!
I use to be hyper, but now, I'm a tired ol' fart.
I still want to go to Fiji.
I want to go to Vermont to see if I still have living relatives that I have not met.
(Recap) I can hold a tune, but I don't much like singing, unless it's to irritate someone.:jester:

jenny 07-31-2010 08:17 AM

• I have a bag in my closet for mismatched socks... every few months I go through it and match up the ones that belong together. I can't seem to bring myself to throw the odd ones out, though...

• as femme as I am, I refuse to have long fingernails, and I don't paint my fingernails (though the toes are ALWAYS painted)... a throwback to my days working in the newborn nursery, where nails had to be short and unpainted...

• I volunteered as an EMT for ten years (and I miss it now that I no longer ride on the ambulance!!) and once set a house on fire in the course of a call...

• I don't understand iTunes... there are some aspects of it that just seem to be beyond me.

• my maternal grandfather died over four years ago (how lucky was I to have him around until I was 40???) and I still miss him every single day.

5 Things!

* I like to sleep with my room icy cold with a fan going but I also must have a fluffy comforter to go with it.

* When Im feeling down, I like to sit in the middle of my bed in a ratty old t-shirt and panties with my big orange dog, trash tv, trashy internet, and a giant glass of tea (unsweet please!) until I feel better.

* I have more cosmetics and junk jewelry than should be allowed.

* When Gracie feels needy, she likes to sit beside me and makes me hold her paw. I sometimes reach out for her paw when *I* am feeling needy. She always happily obliges and this is only one of the reasons why she is the greatest dog EVER.

* Im a tiny bit overly fascinated with peacock feathers.

Soft*Silver 07-31-2010 10:35 PM

sometimes the fear of my pain is so large and loud I feel very small in it and fear I will literally be swallowed up in it and have to live like this or worse, for the rest of my life. I tell no one in my real life about this fear...

sometimes I say the wrong thing. If what I said hurts someone, I am devastated. It physically pains me if I hurt someone...

I love pop beads and wish to god I had a whole bunch of them. I would wear them often...

I have forgotten what it is like to kiss. This is a good thing. I dont expect it to last forever but it needed to happen so I could have a bank slate...

the longer I am single, the less lonely I am. And the less lonely I am, the more consideration i am giving to dating again.

Arwen 07-31-2010 10:59 PM

My introduction...

This is my first post here. I thought I'd post here as a way of introducing myself, so here goes...
  1. I once won second place on an Olivia Halloween Cruise for my all-time favorite costume: "The little Dutch Boy who Stuck his Finger in the Dyke." The audience roared, and had they been the ones to vote, I'd have definitely taken first. The judges went for cute, half-naked femme over funny butch. (hell, I'd have voted for her too)
  2. I was 6 feet tall as a freshman in high school after having shot up 6 inches in a year and a half -- so fast my bones hurt. Although I love my height, I don't think of myself as tall and am still somewhat surprised when people mention my height.
  3. I always have salsa in the fridge and think that you can never have too much cilantro. Ever.
  4. I usually think that I can do anything, whether or not I've actually ever done it before. I once talked my way into a job cooking for one of the top 10 restaurants in Boston, having never actually cooked in a restaurant in my life. It was an amazing experience (and a funny story, ask me about it sometime).
  5. I'm extraordinarily lucky to have such an amazing family. Especially my Mom, who is an incredible loving and giving woman. I hear other's stories and honestly don't know how I got to be so fortunate, but thank the Universe often.

I'm looking forward to meeting some new friends here. Thanks for creating such a great community.

jenny 08-04-2010 06:28 AM

• I have a magazine addiction. I subscribe to more magazines than I can count, and don't have time to read them all.

• I have chronic plantar fasciitis in both feet, which means they hurt most of the time. Luckily, wearing heels is actually helpful for this condition!

• I have jars of sea glass all over my house.

• I love old houses, and even though my house is new construction, I still subscribe to Old House Journal. I frequently go to real estate open houses just to see the insides of old homes. (Note: attending such open houses can be dangerous... I recently fell head over heels in love with a house as I walked through it... *sigh*)

• I'm terrified of heights, to the point where I can get panicky if a movie I'm watching shows the actor's perspective as he looks over the side of a tall building...

Abigail Crabby 08-04-2010 06:54 AM

1. I can't walk out of my bedroom without making my bed first thing
in the morning. I'll even make up a motel bed before I leave

2. I'm more gullible than I wish to be.....

3. I have an aversion to talking on the phone and prefer emails and
text messaging to voice calls...

4. I carry packages of Splenda, Wisps disposable tooth brushes, and an
ethernet cable in my purse.

5. I will have your back if you're my friend or lover, unless you mess with
my family. And then it's Family First...
