After a late call with my Australia co-worker, then a late night call with my Asia co-workers....it's my christmas vacation!! Sleeping dogs and presents under the tree (the Beauhunk snoring away in bed), tickets to a concert, little family christmas party at home, flights to visit the 'rents and sibs...I love winter holiday time.

Well, if I am quoting myself, it stands to reason it was too good to be true - the work being a hugepaininmyasseverytimeItakeadayoff. Ugh.

What's brought me joy today? This time in a mere 48 hours, I will be on my way back to Seattle!

I stopped at Mcdonalds earlier(yougurt parfait) and these two *construction workers* in their over sized trucks were giving me a hard time about my car. It was playful banter and they wern't obnoxious.

Inside Mcdonalds, as I was placing my order. One of the guys told the cashier he was paying for my order. I politely declined, and said *In the spirit of Christmas, buy breakfast for those two senior citizens who just walked in.* He smiled and said OK! I high fived him and left.

That made me smile the whole way here.

Prunning 2 black olive trees imported (by a nephew that is an organic olive oil producer) from the regions in Italy that my parents were from. Kind of like a family tree of sorts in my yard (that nephew gave me the trees to grow at my home). All I need now is a fig tree.

What brought me joy today is my new toy,Its red, needs four batterys to run,has straps on the side not to mention several buttons to work the many things it dose..Its name is Jazz, and is a mini vidio camera,it will hook up to the tv or puter so things can be down loaded and cd's made..it also takes snap shots. Its real cool I just need to get use to a camers so small and my clumsey fingers learn the the right buttons to push.

What brought me joy today?

My boss who remembered me with a gift...beautifully wrapped and it had my FAVORITE chocolate bar in it!!!

Getting my nails done and adding white sparkles to the tips of my nails so they look like glittery snow...omg...can you hear me squeal? LOL...

That I have some of the BESTEST true friends in my life that I've ever had...and a lot of them are of the butch variety, so I am one very blessed femme!

That is the best news I heard today. I am one of those people who have to go to bed when it gets dark and wakes up at the break of day. Which makes for long long sleeps and not getting much done.

I work in a job that is for the most part, thank-less and dull.... Today, I pulled off coordinating a large Care Team for a very medically fragile infant...which began with "red flags" that set me off when I was initially conducting simple outreach for a missed preventive health visit. It brought me joy that I work with such a caring, dedicated, responsive, respectful bunch of Nurses, Social Workers and Caseworkers (only one of which work for my agency). They all pulled together to help this kid who appears to have a "non compliant" parent who's neglecting the infant's serious health needs. Today, I felt a lot of joy at being a part of an amazing Care Team and knowing this child will be in good hands. Even if I get yelled at by my boss when she reprimands me by saying "that was not your job, and why didn't you contact OUR Social Worker? and why did it take you ALL day to coordinate care for one child?"... she can't take my sense of "I did the RIGHT thing by not ignoring red flags"... I saw a child that has special needs...I got them the care they needed very promptly and by the CORRECT Care Team Members...not the Agency SW that works in a different county and "gets production numbers" by referring the child out to someone else....No child should be reduced to "just a number" on a production report. This infant has a NAME and now has an AWESOME Care Team!!

After having such a great day.... working ALL day on one case, even at the cost of burning up my production report... I was JUMPING FOR JOY that I have a FOUR DAY WEEKEND!!!! ..........too bad my bonus doesn't come for another 2 weeks or I'd be burning up the road to run to Myrtle Beach!!
