Good Morning CF,

I would ask your front office if they will have someone come out and professionally clean your carpet. That much water will cause the padding to become soaked and mold can grow. I know from experience about this. When Hurricane Charley hit Orlando, the French doors on our apartment blew open and the carpet got soaked. As a result, we had black mold growing and that is when I came down with pneumonia.

I do believe, Cody, is going to need either HD's or Domn's help in handling us two...hehe..

Hugs and have a great day..

Zimmy

Good Morning Everyone,

Starry, have a safe trip back to Alabama!

Clay, are you having fun on the Love Boat / Gilligan's Island with Elusive?

Hope you all have a good day. I have already gone grocery shopping and came home to pancakes for breakfast!

Coffee is calling my name,

Zimmy

Thanks for the advice, I'll call the front office tomorrow about this. You're right about the padding and I don't think there's much padding there to start off with.
Yes, Cody is going to need help in handling us, lets see which of hys bro's steps up to help ;)

Spikester 06-12-2011 09:06 AM

You guys have yourself a good day, I plan on sitting next to the pool today

Zimmeh 06-12-2011 09:13 AM

Hy might be able to persuade Clay to help hym. You are welcome and I just don't want to see you or your babies to get sick. Pneumonia has really hurt my lungs and five years later, my lungs still aren't at 100% healed.

Have a good day,

Zimmy

Max has airborn allergies so this will probably effect him...poor little guy. Hopefully the rest of us will be ok. I'm going to also ask to see if either the pipes or AC (depending on whats causing the problem) can be replaced

Hey Zimster: Good afternoon! Yes, I am in fact having agreat time on the island...lots of pretty ladies...and all in bikinis, too! Looks like I can have them ALL to myself now that Elusive is "OFF the Market"! I look forward to the bonfire tonight. Stop on by if you have to work....will save you a coconut shell bikini, and a fresh pina colada...and a seat by me on the sand...how's that for service, my dear??? <wink> See ya doll..have an awesome day at the office!!! Hey Zimmy.... I sure will help hym...<wink>
Cuddles: She is absolutely correct. If you happen to have homeowner's insurance they will replace that carpet for you. If not the office is responsible for that. Black mold is NOT safe..for you, or for your pets! That carpet needs to be replaced totally.....ASAP...wouldn't want you to get sick, my friend!!!
Zimmy will have lifelong problems since having pneumo from black mold. Folks use respirators working with that stuff, it is THAT dangerous!!! If I weren't so far away I would come and rip it up for you...ASAP! It is SERIOUS stuff, honey...don't play around with it...please? Keep me posted on the progress from the office...hugs....Clay

Cuddles:
See my previous post! Ask about moving you to another apartment....see what they say!
Also, it is just my "supposition" that most likely what happened is this:
The pipes that carry excess moisture from AC to outside...those tend to get clogged with mildew and mold inside of them...IF not cleaned properly and with regularity. You should ONCE A MONTH pour a mixture of bleach water through them and that helps keep them clear of mold and mildew. If not done, the stuff clogs the drain pipe, and eventually builds up and you would be surprised at how much water can come out when it backs up like that. I always keep a small, inexpensive wet/dry shop vac on hand just for such problems. That happened to us in our last rental, before my partner died...was like a pool in our LR...almost 2 inches of water...I vacuumed and emptied the hopper three times...anyway...
The pipe is usually inside right by the AC unit in most places....if your unit is on top of building then the maintenance SHOULD have done this preventative for you!!!!
Good luck, honey! Clay

Thanks everyone for your wonderful thoughts and posts (((everyone))). The maintence person came today and supposedly fixed the problem. It seems when they were here on friday to "fix" the problem, the other maintence guy forgot to put the tubing back into the drain so the water went all over my floor. They told me there would be no mildew because I got on it quickly. I asked about moving me to another apartment and they told me that the clogs (problem on friday) and stuff would still happen. I think I'm going to be checking into renters insurance this week sometime

Cuddly, glad they finally fixed the problem. Watch out for mildew anyway.

Renters insurance isn't that expensive...at least here in NC it isn't. i pay just under $120.00 per year for excellent coverage through Travelers. Talk to insurance agents to make sure you have proper coverage and to get some quotes...buying insurance online isn't always a good idea.

Thanks, Miss Scarlett. I'll definately be on the watch out for mildew. I'm going to talk to the rental office tomorrow about it.

Thats a great deal that you have on renters insurance. I think I'm going to talk to the agent that my sister talked to when she got her insurance. The premiums can't be that high in SC. Will also call Travelers

Good evening single folks! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Nothing new or exciting to report on my end, except I got all my homework finished, and started on homework that isn't due for 2 weeks. I have most definitely come to the conclusion that I have no life. So...who wants to throw a lil excitement my way? LOL :D
