A Vacation Day

Today, I:

Spot cleaned the carpet in the house,
Got a hair cut,
Mowed the back yard and used the weedeater all the way around the fence and pool,
Went to Lowes and got a couple of new hanging plants for the yard,
Ate dinner,
Unpacked from my trip,
Working on laundry,
Got my stuff ready for work tomorrow,
And now waiting for the hot tub to heat up so I can relax!

Networked

I am finally getting out there and meeting other professionals in my field. This a big deal for me, as I live most of my life hanging around the edges, keeping to myself. Amazing how I have managed to keep a business going for ten years!

And of course everyone was very nice. Big changes in my social life these days and it is all good! Yipee!:byebye:

What I accomplished today

Took a friend to get her car checked out at my dad's dealership
Took her back later in the day to pick up her car
Went to another friend's house and started dance lessons. I started with the two step and the waltz, both to country music.
I really enjoyed learning, especially since my sweetie was doing the teaching. :)

I went to work then came home and spent two hours learning 25 measures of one song. Notes were easy. Rhythm? Not so much.

- Drove home from Nashville (5 hours, not counting potty breaks and nom breaks)
- Got my glasses fixed (I just picked the stupid things up on Friday after waiting over 3 weeks after ordering them and the lenses already fell out...grrrr)
- Picked up the newest Flogging Molly live cd/dvd set
- Finished my final assignment for my mini-mester class (16 weeks worth of class all crammed up into 4 weeks...ugh)
- Uploaded and cropped the photos I took at the Flogging Molly concert on Saturday night (but still don't have them posted on fb yet)

I think that's about it for today... :)

laundry, fed the feral and our bedroom cat (Moxie) scrubbed the toilet and bathroom sink, took out the garbage & checked the mail. Oh, and dishes.

Bonded in secret sisterly distaste for a few of our customers. Shared a sandwich. Spoke with our accountant. Fixed some stuff. Left, as it's a short day for me.

Stopped by the business office at the complex and asked them to send someone over who can figure out our fridge. I keep adjusting the temps, but keep having puddles of water or water with thin sheets of ice waiting for me to clean them out every morning. Today it was only water, so I think I'm on the right track but I do think that there's something wrong with the freezer (where the water's dripping from). They've already replaced the ice maker. Maybe it's time for a brand new fridge.

Got home and got comfy (I put on a shirt Ebon hates. It says 'I'm not opinionated. I'm always right.'. It's hot pink too!) while I tidied up the apartment. Arwen's coming over to see the place! Now, I'm playing on here and soon she and I will be having a late lunch. Ebon may or may not join us.

Depending on the time, I may get my tires checked and rotated and return some stuff to Wal-Mart before coming back home to continue wading through all of our stuff and trying to find places for our things. It's Day 8 from when we moved in and we STILL have boxes in the corners and no artwork on the walls.

I think it took me a month (or two) to unpack and get the rest of my stuff down into the basement and out of the way, lol. Day 8? That's nothing :) Now I find we need more bookcases (we've bought two already!) to fit all our books >.>

I don't know about today but in the next couple of weeks I have my Godson's Christening, taxes due, prep for a week-long visit from the inlaws, more customization on our personals site, the release of the anthology letters, the Corazon charity ball, and about a bazillion other things going on.

PLEASE Universe, let me accomplish all of these things :|

My honey and I found bought new phones....

Re-worked our scrapbook room again(it still wasn't the way we wanted it to be.)

Revived one burnt beyond recognition roasted chicken that I cooked last night(thank heavens I put it on a low temp before I dozed off).

Researched, researched, researched medical literature....

We bought our bookcases in advance of the move, so there'd be others to help us move them into the new place.

Yeah, I'm lazy like that.

Today, I:

laid in bed after Ebon got up
made breakfast and the bed
called the complex because my stupid fridge was STILL leaking water
let the maintenance guys in
cleared the freezer out for them to work
ate breakfast (turkey sausage patties and poptarts...breakfast of champions!)
tidied up the apartment after they fixed Frank (the fridge) and left
showered and got ready for work
went to the mall cuz the Macy's is closing and I wanted a good deal
nearly cried because I found a GREAT rug....for $4500  ($1350 on sale!)
snatched up a RL face cloth and a children's dress

...I know it's a children's dress because the sales clerk said "Ma'am, that's a children's dress!" when I asked her if I could try it on...

Pffft!

went to work

while at work: swept out 6 spaces, undamaged some spaces, took payments, argued with someone who wanted something for nothing, filed, corrected an error my boss made, found a HUGE box of crap left by a most annoying customer, broke the boxes within the box down until I got all of it in the dumpster (except for the new, still in the package periodicals I stole first), swept out all the entraceways to the climate control buildings, chatted with some customers, cleaned the office, vacuumed, took out the office trash, closed

came home and took a shower since I got mega yucky at work
started the first of two loads of laundry
chopped up some bell peppers and onion to go with Ebon's baked chicken
made myself dinner (house special wonton soup and a tomato sandwich)
took out the trash and recycling
brought in the three small boxes of periodicals I stol...er, rescued from the trash
pulled Ebon's chicken out of the oven and he went to town on it
discussed with Ebon, again, whether the air works or not in the apartment (he's finally coming around to noticing that it does not, in fact, work)
make a mental note to call the complex in the morning again (I can see I'm going to have one helluva rep as a complainer here...first the cold water is shut off on the kitchen faucet, then there's ants, then the fridge is leaking, and now the air doesn't work...all in about 9 days time)
played on here for a while
ate some Twizzlers

Arwen 03-08-2011 10:42 PM

Not a blessed thing. :)
Well, okay...

I played with my dogs
I hid a key
I taped a movie
I napped
I cooked dinner
I Skyped with my honey
I figured out how to knit videos together to make a longer movie

Okay. So I guess I did get a few things done. :)

AtLast 03-08-2011 11:10 PM

Well, I thought a lot about getting my taxes finished.

:hangloose:
