They are better!

Neener, neener....

I was fine all night at work, but once I got home, I totally scarfed some roasted red pepper hummus (which I apparently like now) and white corn chips plus tuna pecan salad plus QFC couscous (it's got all kinds of awesome yummy bits in it like cranberries and olives and herbs, etc) plus some pink lemonade. :eating:

dixie 08-06-2010 02:31 AM

chocolate pudding...which i discovered is a little tricky to eat with a fork (NOTE TO SELF: pack extra spoons in the lunch bag)

Last night, my girlfriend Gretchen took me out to dinner for my birthday to Proof, a great restaurant in DC.

Our four-course meal was extravagant with:
- Amuse bouche of crispy bread and goat cheese with lemon oil.
- an heirloom tomato salad with sheep's milk cheese, marinated red onions and a citrus vinaigrette.
- tempura battered mushrooms and green beans with an acidic pesto.
- handmade gnocchi that melted in my mouth with tomatoes, basil, and a light cheese.
- a Napoleon stack of crispy tofu, wild mushrooms, bok choy and summer squash drizzles with a soy-Ginger glaze.
- dessert of a cheese trio with raw honey as well as chocolate mousse Profiteroles topped with coconut cream foam and toffee drizzle.

Um, yum. I'm still full this morning. Lol.

i need suggestions on a good dinner for breaking a fast?

Somehow, chocolate & ice cream don't feel right, although i have given them serious consideration!

femmennoir 08-06-2010 04:08 PM

I am not sure what I am having for dinner, but I know what I am having tomorrow for lunch: en route to Cape Cod, we will stop outside of Boston for the best lobster roll!!!
Tonight probably some soba noodles in a light ginger broth, with shrimp and mushrooms and ice cold sake. Then packing for the trip!

I was up until 4am, so I wound up having two dinners. The first was roasted red pepper hummus, white corn chips, root beer, and nummy throw everything in couscous. The second was more couscous (it really IS delish) and a resurrected grilled (aka burned) steak. A little heat to warm, a sharp knife to scrape off the charred bits, and plenty of Heinz and A-1 and I was good to go!

Soft*Silver 08-07-2010 10:43 AM

On the Cape now, and got some luscious scallops for tonight, will sear them very quickly and serve with a lemon garlic butter and steamed fingerling potatoes, a romaine lettuce just dressed with balsamic vinaigrette, and sliced tomatoes from the farm. A glass of Merlot, and a walk on the beach after dinner!

I took pieces of skirt steak
sauteed in olive oil
with onion, jalapeno and cumin
Heated up refried beans

And that's what I called a meal for myself today
Well, a few of the cats liked the steak even though it was infused with a little heat

Just a salad tonight, Romaine lettuce, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, balsamic vinaigrette and shaved parmiggiano on top, with Portuguese rolls from the Portuguese bakery in Ptown, because we had a late tea in Sandwich at the Dunbar Tea Room after our annual visit to the Sandwich Glass museum, and it was plentiful (very rare grilled filet of salmon in puff pastry with Hollandaise sauce for me, with a salad and a large pot of Lapsang Souchong), and then we walked through Ptown in the late afternoon and I had two scoops of Cherry Garcia as we strolled...salad was just perfect!
