Nature has given to each conscious being every
power she possesses, and one of these abilities is this: just as Nature converts and alters every obstacle and opposition, and fits them into their predestined place, making them a part of herself, so too the rational person is able to finesse every obstacle into an opportunity, and to use it for whatever purpose it may suit. Marcus Aurelius |
We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark;
the real tragedy is when adults are afraid of the light. Plato |
Nirvana or lasting enlightenment or true spiritual growth
can be achieved only through persistent exercise of real love. M. Scott Peck |
Enlightenment is not about becoming divine. Instead it's about
becoming more fully human. . . It is the end of ignorance. Lama Surya Das |
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.

This has been on my mind lately...
How I see a relationship... Any type...
I want you to know one thing. You know how this is: if I look at the crystal moon, at the red branch of the slow autumn at my window, if I touch near the fire the impalpable ash or the wrinkled body of the log, everything carries me to you, as if everything that exists, aromas, light, metals, were little boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me. Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little. If suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you. If you think it long and mad, the wind of banners that passes through my life, and you decide to leave me at the shore of the heart where I have roots, remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land. But if each day, each hour, you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated, in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten, my love feeds on your love, beloved, and as long as you live it will be in your arms without leaving mine. Pablo Neruda... Tend your lover well... Least you find yourself uprooted... |

Sometimes, “No” has to be so strong

I've been around a long time, and life still has a whole lot of surprises for me.

I have been on a hiatus from allowing people in my space enough to actually connect and grow....I broke my own heart a couple of years ago when I was too young to really grasp that love is more than the false expectations and hopes I heard as a young girl in story books. A dear friend of mine brought me a quote that hit spot on for me...to the point where I got overwhelmed in the revelation. Not sure if this will mean anything as profound as it did to me to any of you but nevertheless I feel compelled to share.
"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two." -St. Augustine |
[little tree]by e. e. cummings
little tree little silent Christmas tree you are so little you are more like a flower who found you in the green forest and were you very sorry to come away? see i will comfort you because you smell so sweetly i will kiss your cool bark and hug you safe and tight just as your mother would, only don't be afraid look the spangles that sleep all the year in a dark box dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine, the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads, put up your little arms and i'll give them all to you to hold every finger shall have its ring and there won't be a single place dark or unhappy then when you're quite dressed you'll stand in the window for everyone to see and how they'll stare! oh but you'll be very proud and my little sister and i will take hands and looking up at our beautiful tree we'll dance and sing "Noel Noel" |
One great burst of disobedience is the beginning of freedom. Without it we never grow up.
