The underwire on my bra didn't short out the dryer ( I know, I know but I needed it in a hurry).
Turns out my dog isn't deaf and blind afterall...he was just ignoring me. Red cabbage is easy to make but most people at pot lucks don't know that. I slept in. Why do lunar eclipses always have to take place at night anyway? If you have a lot of stuff, a Honda CRV is just as sexy as a Porsche. |

My Dogs make me laugh every day. They are nuts! I guess they take after me in that aspect. Chocolate malts. Need I really say more on this one? I haven't had one in awhile. Today might be that day. It's Friday. I know I ended the week having helped a few folks thru some rough patches in life. Even if it was simply to be there to listen. Fully present. To be acknowledged is sometimes all any of us need.
I have what I need. I am grateful. My pup and I have full bellies and a comfy warm bed to burrow in tonight...no alarm in the morning. Big ole bag of freshly ground Starbucks Italian roast ready for the espresso machine when we finally decide to touch our feet to the floor. I'm seeing a candy cane incense run in my future. Hot bubble bath too. With a good book. And a kettle of hot water ready so I can stay in a bit longer... |
i have a job...even though it is stressful at times
i have a car...even though it needs maintenance at the most inconvenient times i have a home...even though things break and i have to get them fixed i have friends...even though they demand my time and energy i have dogs in my life...enough said :) |
I have made great strides to overcome some of my self esteem issues, and I'm not afraid to share what makes me feel good.
Being loved and respected by some dang good, loyal, wildly funny friends.
Knowing I am at home in their house, even for short visits. "FAMILY STYLE DINNER" with said friends/ chosen family...and the laughter that filled the room... Confidence in the fact that I will never allow anyone to isolate and alienate me from my friends or family ever again...they are important to me for a reason. I won't give them up for all the money in the world, empty promises or temporary infatuations. Knowing that my happiness is mine to take charge of, not depending on another to "make me happy" or depending on their attention to be my soul reason for happiness. Going barefoot on the beach, breathing in fresh air and smiling at how far I've come since early February. Feeling empowered and sexy.... |
The state fair on an absolutely perfect, gorgeous day
Singing along with "Levon" on the radio. Have no idea what that song is about but it's a rarely heard and much loved one. A woman came up to me at the fair and remarked on how close my daughter and I seemed to be. 16 and few problems, knock on wood. Come to think of it, that someone like me and their dad have raised funny, intelligent, and beautiful kids whom I love beyond measure. Someone offering to make my breakfast Getting treated to a wonderful early dinner at one of my favorite places this past Saturday. Teamwork to get chores done (that makes me feel good because I don't feel like I'm the only one stuck doing the hard, physically tasking chores) At almost midnight; walking down to the dock on a crisp, clear night -with no wind and not a cloud in the sky- to find the moon and stars reflecting on the gentle ripples of the lake...and the ONLY sound is fish sometimes breaking the surface of the nearly ice cold water. I've been to this lake many times, but never have I found it this serene and breathtakingly beautiful. |
