I can also be quite assertive, depending on the situation ;) :whip:

I've pretty much retired from relationships. It will take one helluva woman to persuade me differently, but there's always possibility I suppose.

Antiques and vintage items, mostly a lot of pottery and dishes, but other things as well. Roseville, McCoy, Van Briggle, Hull, etc.

It's kind of a hobby of mine.

1. I'm eating blueberry pomegranate ice cream right now.

2. I have a little bit of a root beer fetish.

3. My ancestors supposedly were very close to a royal family.

4. I love black cherry candles.

5. I call my GOS Gellie.

I let things that I shouldn't get to me. Not so good for an ulcer-prone person!

Just sitting with friends or new people and listening to their life story is one of my favorite things to do.

I believe in making genuine amends and in forgiveness. People do change and I can put aside negative history and be in the present.

I am a solitary person and enjoy quietness.

I miss my dead brother and sister each and every day even as the years pass. That void will remain empty. Losing my parents was difficult, but they had so many more years.

These three from AtLastHome's list are exactly how I feel/am too, so I'm going to use them and then add two more :)

I collect unique and beautiful blank journals. Sometimes I write in them myself, sometimes I take them into work as a school counselor and give them to kids to make their own, and sometimes they sit in a row on my bookshelf at home for me to enjoy looking at on a rainy day.

I love to go to "Chinatowns" around the world. Thus far I have been to SF, Boston, and NYC. That's a short list but I'd love to expand it!

coach 09-04-2010 08:04 AM

I am petrified of meeting new people

I love watching ghost hunting shows but have only had one experience with a ghost and I'm not sure if that was real or just my wanting to see Dad after he died.

I was basically a girl until about ten years ago with fake nails and the whole shabang

I am a published poet...dont get excited, it wasnt brilliant, life changing prose, it was a compilation of many poems, twice.

I have been fat since the third grade when I was the new kid and discovered food as my best friend.

nycfem 09-04-2010 08:19 AM

Do you have a poetry thread on this site? I'd love to read some!

I don't. When I was younger, I wrote in journals all the time and played around with poetry. I have two poems published but couldnt tell you where now. One was a story that my uncle used to tell me when I was a kid and the other...I wrote a poem for a girl, somehow got it published and presented her with the book. She was three girlfriends ago and I think she still has the only copy.

My bonus brother has a huge Fiesta collection and Bauer. He got me interested so every time I go junkin, I always look on the botton to see the stamp.

I used to collect books but they got too heavy. This last move I had to get rid of tons, and I mean that literally, of them. My new motto is, "Do you wanna move it?" Maybe I'll start a feather collection or something...

Logicaly 09-04-2010 02:42 PM

5 things huh? Let's see...

1. When my partner is away, I set the t.v to a sleep timer when I go to bed rather then just turning it off.

2. Mtn Dew Typhoon is my favorite, it has been discontinued, anyone who gets it for me will have my undying gratitude

3. It has been a long time passion and desire of mine to open my own martial arts studio and teach kids, much like my instructor taught me when I was growing up.

4. I like to rescue betta fish. I know, everyone rescues dogs, cats, etc. I rescue the bettas that are trapped in those stupidly tiny cups at walmart, petco, petsmart. It drives me nuts to see them kept in such a manner and it saddens me to see such the painful existance many of them, with the diseases and such they seem to get in those cups.

5. I want to learn to play the drums, and not just the ones on my RockBand.

And there we have it, 5 things about me that you would not have known from BFP alone! Enjoy!

Write14u 09-09-2010 10:50 AM

1. I don't have any flair for it, but I can follow directions and be a decent cook. It's much better when you're cooking for several people.
2. I am cooking my first pot roast right now. Stay tuned.
3. I've always had a job where I worked part of the time from home on the computer, but I'm doing more of it than ever before. It's different.
4. The other night, I couldn't get the little sing-song catchphrase "Doofenhmirtz Evil, Incorporated" out of my head.
5. I'm not used to it being "Fall" this early in the year.

bigbutchmistie 09-09-2010 11:48 AM

1. Im on vacation for nine days start last Friday

2. I recently ended something I was doing long distance

3. I love Roast Beef And Smoked Provolone Sandwiches On Honey Wheat With Dijon Mustard

4. I love Gospel Music. My fave gospel singers are Gold City Quartet And The Cathedrals when they were together.

5. Everytime I date I find out what I do and what I dont want in a partner. :)

diamondrose 09-09-2010 12:03 PM

I have developed an obsession for green tabasco sauce, thanks to a coworker talking me into trying it. I find myself craving just the sauce!! I suppose it will be the newest addition to the collection of stuff in my purse.

When I am at work, people know me for carrying a big thing of water around, so when anyone finds a jug of water sitting around open, they find me to see if its mine before throwing it away.

When I was a kid, I would fly to germany each summer vacation to see my father. A month before my trip, I would count the planes I'd see in the air up until my trip. We always have alot of planes going over living by a military base.

I sleep like a log , but a rotating fan wakes me up in a heartbeat!

If I go out to eat with a friend and I can't decide what I want (which is usually always the case) I base my order upon what they get.. nuts I know!

1.I am 38 and tough as nails but I am still afraid of my mother.(Did I mention she is 81...)

2.I do not fear riding bulls or working with them (even the notoriously aggressive dairy breeds),but I would never ride in the English saddle horse jumping diciplines.THAT scares me.

4.I am a very kind man who seriously contemplates karma.I.e.,I wonder if I was evil in a former life because even with all of my goodness and caring in this life,I have encountered the most rotten to the core, evil people from early childhood on up.

5.Once when on a transatlantic flight,a co-passenger was extremly rotten to the stewardess and I regret I did not say something to him on how a man is supposed to treat a lady.

Write14u 09-17-2010 10:23 AM

1. I like doing these posts because it makes me think about my life, and it also makes me judge what is funny/interesting vs. what is TMI/boring.
2. I'm having to learn how to be social and functional in the mornings. It's not an easy task. In the past, my pups haven't cared much as long as I let them snuggle while I surf the Net.
3. My pot roast came out yummy, as did a lasagna. My mom and friends from back home are shocked to learn I am making an effort to cook.
4. I spent 17 years working almost every Friday and Saturday night. It is somewhat odd to be like "regular" folks and keep "regular" work hours and have weekends off.
5. I am VERY slowly learning to be a little bit of a sports fan again.

4. I will eat anything that doesn't eat me first...with the exception for things that smell strange or are dirty and may have germ growing qualities that are beyond my tolerance to number 2. Unless of course the thing violates number 3 in which case I will turn around and commit a number 1 on it and eat it on general principle for pissing me off.

5. I am generally very calm despite all of the above and am a teddy bear of sorts. I love nature and strolls through the forest, mountains, desert, prairie, whatever. I have camped all my life, began skiing at age 3, scuba and boxing since age five and many other adventures. Just don't make the bear angry or poke the bear when it sleeps.:shark:

I am so bored as a reader. My daughter has been pushing the book The Story of B on me and wont bring me others until I finish this one (control issues...oh yeah....) and I cant get out. I seriously need some books to read!

I have yet to repaint my toenails or shave my legs since before I went in for surgery. I just cant bend. AND I have discovered its not the end of the world

I have developed Restless Leg Syndrome so bad it wakes me up.

Lynn 09-18-2010 01:22 AM

I love this thread because I like to share things about myself and connect to other people.

I'm a bigger picture person, but it's a challenge for me to be disciplined about the details. Being honest about this in a job interview probably cost me the job. I shouldn't have taken that allergy medicine!

I watch HGTV way too much.

I routinely sleep too late in the morning and spend too much time on the computer at night. I don't get enough done, as a result.

You would know me to be a rather quiet person. But not shy or unsociable. A little too worried about others.

[SIZE="3"]1. how I made a mistake and sacrifced my morals for romance recently out of loneliness.

4. How much I realize Im HUMAN and how much I have grown. I will never accept anything less than someone's ENTIRE heart.

5. I just hope one day she doesnt hate me anymore and she finds peace.

Second Part of 5's

2. Lately its keeping me up at night. Because Im hurt cause I cared, and I know I hurt her.

3. How much I miss her and I know it doesnt matter. Doesnt change the bottom line.

4. How forgiving myself is something Im struggling with right now. I know I need to do that to move on.

5. But forgiving myself isnt easy. I know I hurt someone and it doesnt matter that it was unintentionally. It still happened and that breaks my heart.

Ouch. Did you at least get the spider?

1. I think I really like Wal-Mart's Apple flavored drink mix. It doesn't taste like manufactured apple flavoring (think apple Jolly Ranchers). It actually tastes and smells like a fresh apple. Odd and intriguing and yummy.

2. I met a gentleman earlier in the year that has copyrighted a new form of Sudoku that involves solving simple math problems and using the answers from those math problems to help fill in the numbers. He gave me one of his prototypes and it's actually kinda cool.

3. I sprained my ankle tripping over a concrete parking block at work.....about 3 years ago.

4. Mother Nature kind of hates me right now.

~ I've always been a fan of colors throughout my house, but I'm starting to get a strong desire to paint everything in more neutral earth tones...

~ I have dozens and dozens of cute v-neck fitted tee shirts that all look pretty much the same. I can't quite figure out why I have so many, but in cleaning out my closet today, I threw about half of them in a bag to be donated!

~ I take my iced tea unsweetened, with lots of lemon.

~ I love "Where the Wild Things Are" (the book, not the movie), and have Wild Things magnets on my refrigerator.

~ If there's even one chip in the polish on my toenails, I have to repaint them.

I am a true Aries, for the fact that I get into something, lose interest and start something else.
When I am missing home, I go to Youtube to listen to Hawaiin music and watch Hula dancers.
I use to be involved in everything social, now I find myself wanting to be left alone and enjoying the beauty around me.
If I had a choice between a mansion or a kayak. I think I would take the kayak and pack a tent, and life would be superb.
When things get tuff, I sit and contemplate on things that are worse for other people, then mine seem little to none.

Word to these three. I have more Moleskine notebooks than I know what to do with. I started writing in them after my first long term/live in relationship went bust. I went through them like hotcakes. Usually I write like mad when there's something troubling me or I'm doing a lot of travel. I'm trying to do more writing when I'm happy. Cause frankly, I haven't written a damn thing in more than two months and I feel like I should be chronicling the good, not just the bad.

My five:
1. I love being surrounded by foreign languages. Being in immigration/customs lines really doesn't bother me because I get to hear so many foreign tongues.
2. More than almost any other tactile sensation, I love the feel of grass under my feet.
3. I steadfastly refuse to shorten or use abbreviation for Christmas
4. I'm about to be an Auntie. My best friends are having a baby and I cannot wait to spoil that boy rotten. :)
5. I'll be sleeping in Charles De Gaulle airport later this week. I'm hoping for a great story out of it.

Zimmeh 09-26-2010 07:26 AM

1. I am enjoying being in college, even though the 18 year old girl in my group drives me bonkers sometimes.

2. Selling Avon is harder than what it seems.

3. I have days where I hate my body, but then I look at my curves and go hell yeah!

4. I am what psychiatrists call passive aggressive, I let shit aggrevate me until I finally say something.

5. I love making my roommate have a good laugh when I give her son yogurt and he ends up wearing it.
