ok, the line at the post office was super long. I ditched it and went back a couple of hours later. Mosaics are in the hands of the postmaster! Yay!!

Ok....soooo, what's next?

I had fun on the mosaic project but I went about it the wrong way. The next time a project like this comes around, I'll have a better plan and hopefully, a little more time so I can do better quality pieces. I don't think we should do projects with less than a month's window of work time if at all possible. For me, it's too rushed. Mainly because I don't have regular days off to devote to the projects but also because I like more time to go back and forth before delving into my work. :)

I'd love to try something we haven't done before or at least something we haven't done in ages and I'd love to give everyone a shot to put their hat in the ring if they are interested, so maybe let's give it a few days for people to give their input before tackling a project? I've got something percolating but it's not ready to share yet.

Can't wait for the projects to get here!

Gemme 09-13-2015 04:56 PM

OMG, I got my package! Everyone did such a wonderful job! I love the different takes on the subject matter. I have such an appreciation for all who participated. Excellent work!

Besame's mosaic project is finding its way to our greedy little hands and I'm sure some folks are ready to begin another project. It's been a while since I wrangled and I do have some ideas that I think are lovely and engaging but I'd like the process to be more democratic than it's been previously.

If there's anyone else that has successfully participated in at least 2 rounds of projects or hasn't wrangled the past 2-3 projects and has an idea, please let us know. I'll give until Sunday around 10am EST to post your interest and then we'll go from there. If no one else wants to wrangle the next project, then I'd love to do it and will post the options that the participants can choose from.

Does that sound fair to everyone?

Yes, I think this is fair. I am eagerly awaiting a new project cuz I loves me some crafting....:). Thanks Gemme!!!

Breathless 09-19-2015 02:13 AM

arrived today! Very nice, and wow we all took a tad different directions with it. Love how unique each project is, thank you everybody!

Gemme 09-20-2015 08:40 AM

Vote!!!!!

No other eligible hats in the ring? Okay. So I thought it would be fun to do things a bit different and give future participants more power in the project process. I'll make a few suggestions and give some time for folks to think about it and see which project they would like to do now.

If there's interest in the other projects that are not chosen now, in a couple of rounds when I'm eligible to wrangle again, we can do one of those. I would ask that future wranglers not 'take' the ideas that I put up today. There's a sense of ownership when we put our ideas out there and that would not feel good to have someone run with my idea. Fair?

That said, and running the risk of sounding hypocritical, I'd like to present 3 options to you....kind of like the ghosts of Christmas past and all that...seeing as how these are recycled ideas from the past that I really had fun with and are definitely on my Top 5 Favorite Projects of All Time List. <--capital letters!

I will just give you the gist of things today and all of the specific details, dates and rules when the preferred project is chosen.

Option 1: Triptych

amiyesiam wrangled an epic project years ago and I would not even attempt to duplicate that project, but I would like to draw from the base idea of triptychs. In her project, we had a pattern and materials to work with. If the triptych project is chosen, I would give you free reign on the pattern and subject matter.

What I want is a triptych....however you see it. If you see it in a panel design, fine. If you see it in an attached, hinged cathedral design, fine. As long as you stay within the size parameters, I'm good.

Here's some examples.

Option 2: Postsecret

nycfem has wrangled this project twice (I think) and I love it because it allows your creative juices to really flow in interesting directions. It's a project that fits all craft levels and designs and doesn't require a lot of expensive materials.

And this is Suicide Prevention Month. Very important!

Here are some examples.

Option 3: Shrines

CCB did the mini shrines and I know some folks wanted to participate but didn't sign up in time and there were only a few slots available. There's a reason for that. The shrines are 3D and require more materials, more time and more thought than the average project. If this is chosen, I would allow all who wish to participate but please understand that that will entail a LOT of work so I would extend the due date out to accommodate the specific number of people who sign up.

I had to grin because a lot of the images that come up are not only shrines but triptychs too. :)

Here are some more examples of shrines.

And some more examples.

Before you choose, please be aware that these would NOT be mini shrines. I want to do large shrines. You can find the boxes for them at your local kitchen supply store or Walmart or hardware store. They are less than a dollar a piece at my local Walmart and are in the kitchen tools and utensils section. The 250 count large kitchen match box. They are about 2.5 x 4.5 inches.

Think everything over....the time requirement, materials needed, your time and stress level, etc and cast your vote. The deadlines for these projects will be directly related to how many people sign up and how difficult the project is. Obviously, the Postsecret would be the shortest and the Shrines would be the longest time intensive project.

Details such as themes, size parameters, et cetera will be discussed when a project is chosen as they would be different for each one. So if you know some folks that only come on here once in a blue moon, give them a head's up because the votes will be calculated on Wednesday night.

You can put your vote here in the thread, pm me or rep me. If you rep your vote to me, I will notify you that I received it. Sometimes reps can go by fast, so if you haven't received some sort of notification within 24 hours of sending it, I did not receive it.

Really think about the projects and what you want and are able to do. I want this to be a fun project, not one more stressed deadline for anyone.

clay 09-20-2015 08:51 AM

Thank you, Gemme !
I find the rules to be just & fair.
All of these sound amazing!!!
I am leaning towards either the triptycht one OR the postsecrets one. The shrines are amazing but since that was a recent project, I am opting for the triptych one or the postsecrets one myself.
With that said, I am a team player, and will be happy to do what the majority wants to do....I just wants to be crafting...:)
Eagerly awaiting more input...so we can get the project going....."bouncing around in my seat with a big ol' cheesy grin" clay.....

Choice #1: triptych
Choice #2: PostSecret

nycfem 09-20-2015 11:42 AM

I vote for the Triptych with Gemme wrangling, and then maybe I could wrangle a post secret as the next project ;)
