“There is no feeling more comforting and consoling than knowing you are right next to the one you love.”
(unknown) “You never lose by loving. You always lose by holding back.” ~ Barbara De Angelis "I used to think that if I was who I am, if I showed weakness or sadness people would turn away, and not want me in their lives anymore. Now I realize that it is the very act of sharing, truly, from the heart and soul, that brings more love into your life, that binds people together ... More and more I see, the more open and loving you are, the more comes your way to love." (unknown) “Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.” ~ Erica Jong (American writer and feminist, 1942) |

unanswered questions torture the soul more than any other injury human beings can inflict on it. if, during the course of your life, you can leave as few questions as possible unanswered in the minds and hearts of those who knew you then you will have truly understood what it is to be compassionate.

"Physical pleasure is a sensual experience no different from pure seeing or the pure sensation with which a fine fruit fills the tongue; it is a great unending experience, which is given us, a knowing of the world, the fullness and the glory of all knowing. And not our acceptance of it is bad; the bad thing is that most people misuse and squander this experience and apply it as a stimulant at the tired spots of their lives and as distraction instead of a rallying toward exalted moments."
— Rainer Maria Rilke (f) |
― Rosamunde Pilcher, Winter Solstice
“Beyond the pain, life continues to be sweet. The basics are still there. Beauty, food and friendship, reservoirs of love and understanding. Later, possibly not yet, you are going to need others who will encourage you to make new beginnings. Welcome them. They will help you move on, to cherish happy memories and confront the painful ones with more than bitterness and anger.”

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.
-Martin Luther King Jr. |
“True love is rare, and it's the only thing that gives life real meaning.”
― Nicholas Sparks “I layed still, in the darkness, in the pain. My mind searching for answers. How could she take something so beautiful and destroy it ? How could she be okay with this? How could she do this to someone who loved her so deeply? When the body is struck by pain that is overwhelming, it is always numb at first. Numb in the silence, and in that moment, I heard my heart break. It was a small, sharp sound, like the snapping of a flower's stem. Fear and doom stung me raw , as if I had been skinned alive” ― The Vera Wood Files “I wanted to be his life preserver, the thing that would keep him afloat. Instead, he became my anchor. And I’m tired of treading water.” ― Amanda Grace |
To all the "helpers" out there....thank you.
Years ago, Fred Rogers — you know him as Mr. Rogers — identified those people as the ones to watch when bad things unfolded on television.
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping,'" he once said. "To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers - so many caring people in this world." The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love for your dream for the adventure of being alive. It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon... I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain. I want to know if you can sit with pain mine or your own without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy mine or your own if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful to be realistic to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure yours and mine and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes.” It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children. It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments. |

“Listen carefully. I'd crush you like a bug for causing my wife one single moment of pain. Believe it. Fear it. ― J.D. Robb "Listen to me. You can't change the truth. You can act as though you're deaf and blind, you can walk away from me forever, but the truth will still be there, and you can't make it go away. I love you." "I love you, " she repeated. "Don't lie to either of us by pretending you're leaving for my good. All you'll do is deny us both a chance at happiness. We will long for each other every day and night, but at least my conscience will be clear. I haven't held anything back from you, out of fear or pride or stubbornness or hurt. For once have the strength not to walk away. Stay with me. Let me love you . " ― Lisa Kleypas, Dreaming of You |

Even the sun-clouds this morning cannot manage such skirts.
Nor the woman in the ambulance Whose red heart blooms through her coat so astoundingly ---- A gift, a love gift Utterly unasked for By a sky Palely and flamily Igniting its carbon monoxides, by eyes Dulled to a halt under bowlers. O my God, what am I That these late mouths should cry open In a forest of frost, in a dawn of cornflowers. ~Sylvia Plath |

-----“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open… No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.” ----------------------------Martha Graham
