Thanks..it's not easy but I know It is worth it..BTW..Your story stopped me from having one at a really hard moment..ty

I'm still having cravings! What is up with this? Usually they are over by now. Maybe it is because I'm still using the nicotine lozenges. At least I didn't have a craving until I was awake for a couple of hours.
I'm worried about going back to work tomorrow. I think that is a huge trigger for me, especially on my breaks! Not to mention, the stress...It is tax season and it makes it crazy busy at work. I will drink LOTS of water and maybe read or something on my breaks...I may have to do the "I'm not smoking for 5 minutes" thing, 5 minutes at a time until the craving passes. I don't know why it is so hard to quit this time!
I'm glad for this thread. It does help to have a place to vent about it and also for support and it does give me more strength that I would have if I were doing this completely on my own.
You all ROCK!!

Keep using them..they are slowing or stopping the process probably...trust me..

Funny story that happened yesterday:

I had my sister put my patch on me. It needs to be taped on because they will not stay on my skin for nothing due to meopause..ha
Well last night I had 2 smokes..irrated myself but still on the program.
Found out this morning, that when she taped it on she didnt pull the tab off..so I only got a tiny piece of the patch all day..ha

So today, the patch is on right..but it does help.

I am using nicoderm patches. They seem to be the best for me.

That is funny! You did really well with only a partial patch :) !

So far today, no smoking...Will do my best to stay strong tomorrow! Maybe I'll treat myself to a little chocolate :chocolate: instead of a smoke on my break...I guess that may not be the best substitution, but maybe for tomorrow it is okay:praying:

Way to go!!! Keep up the good work! Btw, fruit is a very good thing to eat when your quitting instead of sweets. I have had some sweets but mostly eat fruits. One because they are sweet but they are a free food so to speak. And great for you. Also vegies are great also and a free food as well. Both are full of only good calories.

I agree with you about the lozenges thing. As long as you are using them you will be going through some type of withdrawal as you decrease use. Subsequently, it makes sense your cravings didn't last as long in the past if you did not use nicotine replacement, as the nicotine got out of your system more quickly.

I did Chantix (so I had one time withdrawal, but it certainly wasn't as bad as quitting cold turkey), but everyone is different, and adding that now wouldn't really make sense at this juncture for you, anyway.

As an aside, "cravings" for me lasted a long, long time. I see this as different from "withdrawal".

I don't know HOW I made it through the day at work without smoking! A huge trigger was driving past the gas station right by my work...plus work itself. Now I'm off to my class...I will not go outside with the smokers or I know I'll beg for one. Today was the day from HELL at work too. I had a frosty for lunch :-). LOL

Get cinnamon altoids to suck on..unsweetened greatfruit juice to take sips from... and always carry either a cinnamon toothpick or plain one in your mouth...it reallly helps...smiles Good for you btw!

Lots of great ideas! Thanks!

Wow, it's really cool to see so many of you tossing out the smokes! Great job! :)

Jan 5th a year ago was my quit day, and I truly do not regret it a bit.

Just_G 01-30-2012 07:53 PM

10 months ago yesterday for me! I never thought I would quit...I did it.

Stay strong quitters....you can do it!!

One more day of non-smoking :-) Today was probably the hardest day so far! Tomorrow isn't Monday, so that should help :-)

OS Butch 01-31-2012 08:31 AM

Great job! Keep it up!

Thank you! So far, today has been a bit better. I've only had one intense craving, and that was when I was leaving my office for the day. I popped one of those nicotine losenges in like nobody's buisness and the carving went away. I can already feel a difference in my body from not smoking :-). I may be heading back to the gym soon!

uniquetobeme 02-02-2012 10:24 AM

Still haven't smoked and have been trying to wean myself off the nicotine lozenges. I didn't have my first one until 11 am today. I still am gettin about 1 powerful urge to smoke a day...but I've come too far to go back. I wih I could smoke one every once in awhile and not start the habit again, but apparently I can not. I used to be able to, but it is playing with fire! Way too easy to get sucked back in!

Been there and done that. I took a trip to Texas and thought what could it hurt, I will quit again once I get back. Well, I have been back and had to start all over again. Today is day 3 with smoking....I am the old school type in many ways....Cold turkey....sometimes I wish I could change the way I am....other times I am fine:)

Keep up with it and keep coming here to check in, it sure helps me and encourages me when I see folks posting!

It is great that you quit again! It isn't easy, but you made it past the hardest part! BTW, I am sure you are fine just the way you are. :)

I usually quit cold turkey too, the 10 or so other time I have quit. I knew I couldn't do it this time. My life is too stressful right now, My work is CRAZY because it is tax season, and I'm taking 2 classes and a few other things, I wouldn't have made it a day without smoking, so I decided to use the nicotine "supplements" LOL.

Today...I had the food craving...I ate way more sugar cookies than I should have! Then...I realized what I was doing and took a nicotine "supplement" to save me from gaining 5lbs in 5 minutes! LOL I'm okay now :-) Good thing I didn't have any potato chips in the house!

Stay strong everyone! I know you all have helped me to not smoke a great deal. The support is great and it's nice that you all understand what a struggle quitting can be. Just realized, it is 7 days today...still not out of the woods...will probably always be in the woods...but each day I breathe a little easier!

day 22 cutting down

First let me say CONGRATS to all who are quitting or trying to quit! That is fanstastic!

I have chosen to cut down as you have seen. I haven't been back in a few days so thought I would check in..lol
I am on day 22 and I am currently at 3 to 4 a day right now.

Will be cutting down to 2 or 3 real soon. My body is still fighting it a lil.
But this is what seems to work for me the best.

Seems to me like that lil bit would be easy to cut down but seriously it is not.
But it will happen...trust that...ha!

It simply amazes me I have kept to it and am down to that..btw I have gained 5 lbs so I am still ok..That won't be hard to get off. smiles
