A Work virus forward. :)
There is a dangerous virus being passed electronically, orally and by hand. This virus is called Worm-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss or anyone else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely. If you should come into contact with WORK put your jacket on and take two good friends to the nearest pub. Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolator-Neutralizer-Extractor (WINE). Alternate products include Bridge-Environoment-Eradication-Resolution (BEER) and Benign-Orderly-Overload-System-Enhancer (BOOSE). Administer the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. You should forward this warning to 5 friends. If you do not have 5 friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life. Update: After extensive testing it has been concluded that Best-Equivalent-Extractor-Remedy (BEER) may be substituted for WINE but may require a more generous application. |
i've been reading the road to assisi by paul sabatier and there are several passages that have made me smile (and laugh!). this one is one of my favorites though:
One day a novice who could read the psalter, though not without difficulty, obtained from the minister general - that is to say, from the vicar of St. Francis - permission to have one. But as he had learned that Francis desired the brothers to be covetous neither of learning or for books, he would not take his psalter without his consent. "Father," the novice said to St. Francis, "it would be a great consolation to have a psalter. Though the minister general has authorized me to get it, I would not have it unknown to you." (francis talks to the novice about how wanting books/learning has just led to people thinking high and mighty of themselves for reading about the great things others have done and expecting praise for talking about the great deeds of others.) ...A few days later, St. Francis was sitting before the fire when the novice drew near to speak with him again about his psalter. "When you have your psalter," Francis said to him, "you will want a breviary, and when you have a breviary you will seat yourself in a pulpit like a great prelate and will beckon to your companion, 'Bring me my breviary!'" St. Francis said this with great vivacity. Then, taking up some ashes, he scattered them over the head of the novice, repeating: "There is the breviary! There is the breviary!" |

What made me smile today...
Having one of the toughest (hot-headed) guys come to me frustrated with other staff and, I believe, expecting me to side one way or the other but instead I simply told him that what they did/said was in his best interest and then commenced to explain their (adult) reasoning behind their choices... He was able to get a rational, calm, arbitrary view of the situation... And then he thanked me! Not once did he lose his cool... I like that kid! :) |
My son with his hugs and kisses (over and over and over lol)

The strangest things make me smile these days and today it was realizing I kind of sort of have a mild crush...(long standing) on someone I kind of consider to be a prick a large percentage of the time. Either way it made for a good laugh

My son saying he spend a great day with his nan (my mom)
They went out to a lunch buffet and then some shopping, he even text me "Just had lunch" :) He made me smile when he called me at work 2 times asking me what he should pick between a black zippered hoody or a green lol Also asking me if he should get the running shoes and back pack that my mom wanted to purchase for him (he is conscience of money) I said that if he liked and he needed that it was okay, and since he did and nan wanted to get for him, then it was okay and makes her happy seing him happy. Makes me smile to know that he still loves spending time with my mom, even just the 2 of them. Great since I am not sure how many 13 year old boys do like to hang with grandma ;) |
Last year I found an Interlooper Remix of James Blake's Wilhelm Scream which I totally love and use when I workout on my in-door living room trampoline.
But tonight, I found an ethereal version of Blake's song... |

What made me smile today...
Well, it's a continued smile from last night but... I got a late night text from the co-worker I do my weekend shifts with. He said that he and I were both commended by name and efforts in front of the entire staff meeting by the director and executive director for the hard work we are doing as a team. The director also said that he appreciated how we were taking charge of our weekend shifts and working with the kids! My co-worker ended the text with "we make damn good team, you and I!" I kinda hate that I missed the staff meetings but I have a feeling I will hear about it all when I go into work today :) |
