Ambien doesn't always help.

JakeTulane 03-22-2010 07:59 AM

Just when you think you have seen it all. Someone shows you something that is just unreal. ... and very eye opening.

Sachita 03-22-2010 08:18 AM

Sometimes desire overrides reality and you're left disappointed, ashamed at your choices and mistakes. Sometimes you have to take a few steps back, reevaluate and figure out how to work things. Life is full of lessons and if you watch the processes of nature, mother nature you see how she knows the right time to present a storm, a flood, a fire and even through the most devastation something spectacular emerges. The only compass you really need for this life is being true to yourself and honest with others.

Diva 03-22-2010 08:29 AM

The beginning of the Life Series on Discovery was breath~taking.....though I couldn't watch the cheetahs taking down the female ostrich.....it broke my heart to see the male crying for her.

Of course, he ran off and left her to be killed......that's a whole other series......

Diva 03-22-2010 08:58 AM

Write14u 03-22-2010 04:08 PM

For some reason, it always cracks me up when I get Sir-ed. Poor guy today had no chance. I was standing sideways (reducing boobs) AND wearing a fleece. AND had a hat on. LOL It was kinda funny.

mountainbikedyke 03-22-2010 04:34 PM

I was out to dinner Friday night and went into the bathroom. I had just closed the door to the stall when a woman poked her head into the abthroom and said, "This is the women's bathroom!" I said, " I AM a woman, but thanks for the concern!" :) Poor thing! I'm taller and have short hair and I'm sure she only saw me from behind...

I'm so used to it and it doesn't bother me so I don't get mad about it.

Write14u 03-22-2010 04:42 PM

Yeah, MBD....It's the same for me. My hair is very short and spikey...and faux-hawked. I get some hellacious looks in the bathroom. And I have friends that get it worse than me. It merely amuses me. I answer to about anything.

Leigh 03-22-2010 05:29 PM

I gotta agree here with Mountain and Write ........ even though I identiy as an FTM, I'm not going through any physical changes as of yet and still have to use the women's washroom. Its great when little old ladies or even just women in general will give Me looks for walking into the bathroom, I just laugh cuz honestly I think its hilarious :D

Fledglings:
Baby birds that are beginning to leave the nest are called “fledglings”. Their flight feathers haven't fully developed, but they can flutter from branch to branch. Don't be alarmed if you see a fledgling on the ground. It could be taking a rest from its first flight or it could be waiting for one of its parents to feed it. Do not attempt to replace such a youngster in the nest. Leaving the nest is a part of their normal development and it is best not to interfere with the process.

I've been pleasantly surprised at my ability to carry out "meatless Mondays" for a month now. I will say that it's led to some interesting food choices. Oh, and I'm in no danger of becoming vegetarian anytime soon. Still. It's been cool.

Butterbean 03-23-2010 11:36 AM

Violante, your post brought up a memory from long ago when I was around 8.
The neighbor girl and I happened upon a bird nest in a tree and we removed it.

My parents were home so we took it over there first. Across the board, it was a "No, put it back," from my mom and my dad, with an explanation of what we had done and what was to be the result.

So, we went to her house with the nest and I learned the next day, her parents had allowed her to keep it because she wanted it.

For days, I heard all about the feedings and delightful encounters from the neighbor girl. I was pretty ticked off about it all. My mom tried to explain that the reason they would not allow me to keep the nest.

One day, I realized I hadn't heard any more bird stories for a bit and asked the neighbor girl about it.

She only said this: "They died."

I learned a lot about my parents' character that day.

~~ thank you, Butterbean ~~

for sharing your story. it carries with it a great message :)

keeping an eye on the family pets while fledglings are on the ground is also a good idea.

thank you-

When I woke this morning my mother was tied up on a telephone call. This allowed me to have coffee prior to inane demands being placed on my time (gotta love her)! Yay!

Rook 03-23-2010 02:11 PM

my younger brother's the general manager of a sandwich shop called jimmy john's..
it's in the middle of Campus, so..I always hear the strangest anecdotes about orders placed..
this morning in utter boredom, I wanted to call {when I do, either mum or my brother take a quick 4 minute break-ish} and since they're short staffed today [spring break] bro took orders too apparently

Bro : good mornin, jimmy johns bla bla bla*promo line* how can we help you?
Me: -nasal deep voice- Yes yes, may I have a gargantuan Unwich??"
Bro: "of course sir, anything else?"
Me : ~slightly surprised he doesn't recognize me~" uh, yesh, do joo have guac?"
Bro : "it'll cost extra, but we certainly do, would u like to make it a combo?"
Me : "It'll cost a lot if u actually wrote that stuff down, dingaling"
Bro :"OMG, u fu-- *whispered hiss* we're in the middle of an inspection...I could kill you and get away with it"
Me: "heh heh heh, good luck, if u get out early bring me a cherry coke, there, you're saved"[click]

I am so stressed I am almost numb. Collateral dama sucks. Good thing its hair salon night! Chillin while lovely ladies make my hair beautiful. Yeay.

Andrew, Jr. 03-23-2010 05:02 PM

Apocalipstic,

I had a day like that last week. I need a haircut too. It always relaxes me. I hope you enjoy your day of beauty.

Today I came across 2 of my frogs. They were waiting for their house I put out each year for them. It is like they were just waiting for me.

I read this as: "When I woke this morning, my mother was tied up with a telephone cord."

I thought, "You too?"

moxie 03-23-2010 09:31 PM

I need someone here to twirl my hair so I will fall asleep. Doing it myself just isn't the same and I need to sleep. I have to be on top of things to advocate some serious shit tomorrow. ugh.

I almost left off an honest-to-goodness, real-life, paid-for color ad from one of our ads tonight. :|
Ummm, that would not have gone over well.
And then, I almost left my roomie at work (he rode there with me). :|
Ummm, I think I was distracted today at work.
