a new hummingbird feeder right outside my bedroom window

while moving something in the yard, I accidentally scared a momma birdie from her tiny nest found in a very unusual spot. I put things back and hope to watch them from the kitchen.

making a yummy pie for a friend that I know will enjoy the new treat

getting sassed at by a territorial male hummingbird when I stepped out to porch. So tickled at how sassy they are.

my squash plants finally starting to produce.

a really nice day yesterday

I've been working through a book on spiritual growth for the last few days; each morning there's a new concept or word to meditate on, and ideas for implementing each idea throughout "doing" the day.

Today the word was "creativity". Not as in painting or art, but the idea that our thoughts and beliefs are self-fulfilling, and our reality around us is largely manifested from our inside out. In that sense, we "create" our reality. I don't totally understand it, but I was willing to go along with that. So I looked for opportunities to bring out something positive, with more love.

I had to go to Target and then all the way downtown for a couple of errands. My 14 year old daughter wanted to come. Now, doing most anything with a teenage girl means 10% more time and 25% more money, but I said "Sure". I consciously watched my thoughts, and any time aggrivation or impatience seeped in, I changed it to a loving thought and gave her a compliment or some other positive stroke. Lo and behold, we had a great time just doing ordinary things, she was well-behaved and respectful, and really appreciated my words. I felt very close.

So yeah, I hope we are allowed to write a long post in here (I see mostly short phrases), but ANY time things go well with my daughter, I'm way past joy and close to jubilant :).

This femme can fish!

I laughed so hard today my sides hurt...a butch friend and I took my mother fishing off a pier on a large bay. Mom had a new fishing pole and she wrangled with that thing forever, it seemed. Finally casted and brought up a crab trap. She was pure joy all day long. I know in my heart I will not have her a whole lot longer...making these kinds of memories helps ease that thought.

She caught two bait fish, a crab trap and the back of my shirt (while casting). I caught nothing but a good time...time on the water, blue skies, time with special people.

It does not get any better. :happyjump:

the joy of painting

I painted for most of the day.
I was feeling warm and red and so that's what I painted.

I took the exam to add 4th through 6th grade certification to mine (which is 7th through 12th), and I am 90% sure I nailed it. It just means more options to watch for, in one of my favorite age groups.

Watching twin spots play beside the refuge driveway, and on the edge of the woods and then into a field. Never did see Mom anywhere, and one of the spots limped on the front foot a little. They are so cute and so amazing to watch.

My best joy was actually yesterday. I went to see Keith Urban in concert. What a great time! He was accompanied by Justin Lynch and Little Big Town.
Great night out on the hill (it was an outdoor concert) at DTE!

oh, and btw the hill is where the craziest partyers go..lol.
lots of dancing, singing and all around great fun :)

Not having to use a tissue, or sneeze all day long...I am feeling a little better today, and that is giving me more than a little bit of joy :)

I have to admit that I am also enjoying Gaige's gentle reminders about taking my meds and getting some rest...:stillheart:
