Who knows where inspiration comes from. Perhaps it arises from desperation. Perhaps it comes from the flukes of the universe, the kindness of the muses. ~ Amy Tan

Words to me were magic. You could say a word and it could conjure up all kinds of images or feelings or a chilly sensation or whatever. It was amazing to me that words had this power. ~ Amy Tan

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself." - William Blake, 1799, The Letters |
"I like trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do." - Willa Cather (1873-1947), O Pioneers 1913 |
“To live in this world, you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go” - Mary Oliver |
Lyrics from Natasha Bedingfield...
"Drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten" |
It's not men who limit women, it's not straights who limit gays, it's not whites who limit blacks. What limits people is lack of character. What limits people is that they don't have the fucking nerve or imagination to star in their own movie, let alone direct it.
Tom Robbins |
It just fucking bears repeating! BRILLIANT QUOTE!

Brava, Semantics...........thanks for posting this! |
"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable."
— C.S. Lewis (The Four Loves) |
The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.
-Frank Lloyd Wright |
Life needs mystery or else everything else flattens into a routine
so familiar you wonder if you will ever get out of the rut. We need the sweet pain of anticipation to tell us we are really alive. Dave Kindred |
“I want to have fun. I want to shine like the sun. I want to be the one that you want to see. I want to knit you a sweater. I want to write you a love letter. I want to make you feel better. I want to make you feel free.”

An Irish Blessing for...

May you always have Walls for the winds, A roof for the rain, Tea beside the fire, Laughter to cheer you, Those you love near you, And all your heart might desire! |
It's not what we eat but what we digest that makes us strong; not what we gain but what we save that makes us rich; not what we read but what we remember that makes us learned; and not what we profess but what we practice that gives us integrity.
~Francis Bacon, Sr. |
If you're lucky enough to be Irish, then you're lucky enough.
~Irish Saying |
It is easy to be pleasant
when life flows by like a song, but the one worthwhile is the one who will smile when everything goes dead wrong. For the test of the heart is trouble, and it always comes with years, and the smile that is worth the praises of earth is the smile that shines through the tears. ~Irish Saying |
"All rivers, even the most dazzling, those that catch the sun in their course, all rivers go down to the ocean and drown. And life awaits man as the sea awaits the river." - Simone Schwarz-Bart |
"There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in." - Deepak Chopra |
"An intense anticipation itself transforms possibility into reality; our desires being often but precursors of the things which we are capable of performing." -Samuel Smiles |
A little teaching of the Irish.
What does Erin go Bragh mean? The popular phrases "Erin go Bragh" or "Erin go Braugh" mean Ireland forever. It's the anglicised version of the Gaelic phrase which would be known to some Irish Americans (although its English spelling is quite meaningless). The correct spelling is "Éirinn go Brách". |
Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life. ~ Hermann Hesse, Wandering

What I know in my bones is that I forgot to take time to remember what I know. The world is holy. We are holy.
All life is holy. Daily prayers are delivered on the lips of breaking waves, the whisperings of grasses, the shimmering of leaves. ~ Terry Tempest Williams |
There is religion in everything around us, a calm and holy religion in the unbreathing things in Nature. It is a meek and blessed influence, stealing in as it were unaware upon the heart. It comes quickly, and without excitement; it has no terror, no gloom. It does not rouse up the passions. It is untrammeled by creeds. It is written on the arched sky. It looks out from every star. It is on the sailing cloud and in the invisible wind. It is among the hills and valleys of the earth where the shrubless mountain-top pierces the thin atmosphere of eternal winter, or where the mighty forest fluctuates before the strong wind, with its dark waves of green foliage. It is spread out like a legible language upon the broad face of an unsleeping ocean. It is the poetry of Nature; it is that which uplifts the spirit within us and which opens to our imagination of world of spiritual beauty and holiness. ~ John Ruskin

This is what I want said as my vows at my wedding ... if i ever get married :) I need to find the right person first i guess :)
I never thought that I could meet someone like you. You are my friend. You are my smile. You are my everything. You are a breath-taking reflection of God's heart for me.... of how he pursued me... and loved me even when I didn't love myself. You held my hand in the darkness and you pulled me out into the light. I love you... You are my light. And it doesn't matter what happens in this life as long as you're with me. When I look at you, I know that there's a God and that he loved me so much that he took the time to create you...just for me. I love you....past my mind....beyond my heart.... I love you from my soul. And that's the space where only you and God dwell. |

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle Me at My worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve Me at My best ~ Marilyn Monroe
