LOL! Well, I the pot won't call the kettle black. We do have good fans. Those that love or even like the Pirates.....but we have our share of haters. The only player I've ever Booed was Lyle Overbey. ___ In other news, Nate McClouth was given an unconditional release today. If he clears waivers, he's a free agent. |

Egh, I'm in love what can I say? Win or lose, good guys wear black. I'm going to try and catch the Seattle game tomorrow. Those guys are red hot, but we've had a day off and Peavy is starting. We swept them last time so I'm sure they'll be here with guns blazing. Should be exciting. |
Yes! SF finally is playing well overall! 4 games out, behind the Dodgers. GO GIANTS!!!

Word around town, but not confirmed by the Pirates, is they are shopping our CLOSER. They want some bats for him. Agreed, we need a heavy hitter and then some....but please, not the Hammer!
|
Well, the Giants were looking good- but Tim Lincecum is still in a slump and they started getting sloppy on defense again. ARGH! The Rangers smacked them around good yesterday after they played (and won) against them the day before in a extremely well-played game. Inconsistency is the description I come up with for my team.
I have always felt pablo Sandoval was a very talented player, but get really tired of him acting like a little boy. Grown men (and women) that do that make me nuts. Also, I don't see his hitting as all that consistent, but we need bats. Also, he seems to spend a lot of time every year on the DL. Now, the idiot is in a mess with sexual assualt charges while he was out on the DL post surgery on his hand. And he continues to remain out of shape even though he has been told his job could be in jeapardy (the replacement for him when he was on the DL has been very, very good). The facts/evidence have not been made public, but the woman is 21 (Pablo is 25) and the initial reports are the "he said, she said" kind of thing- and he says they had consensual sex. My gut tells me he didn't take NO for an answer. But, I shouldn't pre-judge either way. Getting ready for the usual BS that "she" is just trying to get a financial settlement- this always seems to happen in these cases and it just pisses me off. I know this happens, but just because one woman may do this, it doesn't mean every woman does. Personally, I think Pablo is more trouble than he is worth as a player. Of course, he got a bunch of money last year when his contract was negotiated. It's obvious Arias can play 3rd well and is a good hitter. He puts his heart into playing- something, Sandoval isn't doing anymore, I think. I say, stop baby sitting Pablo and trade him! Since the 2010 WS win, he has been on the DL more than playing. Anyway- I am worried about Tim Lincecum. The guy is just not getting out of this slump. Both Cain & Vogelsong have been super, so that is good, but Timmy is a mess! |
It is so cool to see some of the teams doing so well so early in the season. I mean who would have thunk the White Sox would be first in their division? Or, the Nationals, who just swept three from the Red Sox. Or, the Reds and Pirates tied for first. Or, the Dodgers. Really the Dodgers? Nice to see the Giants pulling it together too. The Pirates are still amazing me despite their lack of hitting. My Red Sox are in the sub basement again. Cant help but think these guys are not working well with the new manager. Injuries are hurting as well. The line up juggling isnt helping any either. |

It would be great to see a team like the Pirates stay on top and get into the play-offs. And of course, the Giants! The Anels beat the dodgers yesterday... yes! hey, I'm a Giants fan and we are a few games out! But, LA under Magic is getting it together! |
kobi the red sox r trying to get the best loser championship .. just saying ~~

LOL they are certainly off to a booming start on that one. |
Tonight the FIRST & ONLY perfect game in the SF Giant's 130 year history was pitched by Matt Cain!
The fans still don't want to leave the ball park. |

My latest Yankees photographic purchase.

I did however love the added touch of the Red Sox fans singing "Sweet Caroline" on the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley. Poor Twinkies......hang in there, it isn't as bad as it looks http://www.google.com/imgres?q=twink...r:1,s:39,i:206 |

Cain was stunned himself that over 130 years of Giant's history and some of the best pitchers in the game, his was the first perfect game in the franchise history. Some did pitch pefect games, but not while pitching as a SF Giant. Gaylord Perry, Juan Marichal, Christy Mathewson, Amos Rusie... and there are more. In fact, the giants (both in NY & SF) have the most Hall of Fame players! |
Roger Clemens verdict: Not guilty on all six counts
After eight weeks, 46 witnesses, two dozing jurors and an estimated $2 million-$3 million spent in taxpayer money, the Roger Clemens trial has finally come to a close.
The verdict: Not guilty on three counts of making false statements, not guilty on two counts of perjury and not guilty on one count of obstruction. The charges stemmed from testimony that Clemens made in February 2008, telling a Congressional committee that he had never taken steroids or HGH. Prosecutors also alleged that Clemens intentionally made false statements that misled investigators. -------------------- |

Was only half awake when I looked at the baseball news today. Did it say the Giants have pitched 4 shut outs in a row? Pretty cool stuff. The Red Sox finally traded Youkilis to the White Sox. If he can stay healthy, he will be a huge asset to them. |

Yes, saw that about Youlilis. |
My Giants just got mega-swept by the Pirates! Yikes! And Tim Lincecum continues on his really terrible season. UGH!
I bet there is someone here really excited about the Pirates season! Hey, they are playing great ball. Personally, I see them building a great team over the next couple of years. They have some young players really coming into their own. And you gotta love Andrew McCutchen. Now, please, SF, get it together! |

Good game Boston.....let's see how tonight goes. |
Quote:
Lester pitching. Going to be a long night I suspect. LOL. |
Quote:
Well we've split the series so far. Let's see what happens tonight. I'd like to see us improve our lead (3.5 ahead of the Tigers). The Angels beat them 13-0 yesterday so the Tigers will likely have a bad attitude coming out today. I'm hoping for an LA & TB win along with us beatin' you guys tonight. :) |
Quote:
The odds are not quite in your favor tonight LOL. I dont know who is pitching tonight but it isnt Lester or Beckett - our 2 pretty much guaranteed losers this year. Boston isnt back yet this year. They are still flirting with the basement, riddled with injuries, and inconsistent in both hitting and pitching. Going to need a major off season overhaul of personnel and attitudes to get back on track. |

Told ya. As long as Lester or Beckett arent pitching, we have a fighting chance. ;) |

After that, the Twinkies at home. While MN may look like a no-brainer on paper only a fool would dismiss them. They've been able to hand our asses to us on a platter fairly readily. I do believe, however, that Cleveland is done. They face the Orioles next and than Detroit. I think these 2 series is key for them and that it won't end well and they will sink further back. I would be surprised if they slipped behind the Royals although there is the possibility that KC will have a bit of a surge. I would have expected them to taken the series against the Mariners, which they did not do. In any case I believe that bottom of the Central is now set as is. You guys should be able to rough up the Blue Jays but have a hill to climb with the Rangers, Tigers, and the Yankees right behind the birds. Do us a favor and handle the Tigers willya? I don't think you are going the catch the Yankees this year. At least by the books they should be able to clean out their next 2 opponants (Oakland and Seattle) before they hook up with the Red Sox. Good luck tonight!! I hope it's at least a good game. |
Well, it is going to be an exciting end of the season. I have not been on the site in awhile, but watching every Giants game. Been to one and going in September to two at the yard. Life has been busy and just haven't signed in much.
Glad to see the baseball folks have been keeping up with one another. |
Calling the BoSox dysfunctional is being kind.
|
Quote:
Ha! Someone else who knows the Red Sox as the BoSox. Well, the Red Sox look to be conceding the season and are now reportedly embarking on garage sales and salary dumping. They placed Adrian (would you like some cheese with that whine) Gonzalez on waivers and are in talks with the Dodgers to trade Adrian, Carl (my body is falling apart) Crawford, and Josh (do I look like a give a f*#@) Beckett for James Loney (who?) and some minor leaguers. Over 200 million is owed those 3 for the duration of their contracts. Personally, I think they should throw in Lackey, Dice-K, and some fried clams to sweeten the deal. :) |
Grrrrr... every time SF gets in 1st place by 2-3 games, the bats go silent! And when the hell is Pence going to show his great bat? That's why we have him!
I have had it with Sandoval hurting himself just a few games after getting off the DL due to taking stupid risks and being out of shape! He is an amazing player, but, does not think or take care of himself. |

Kevin McClatchy reveals he is gay
Updated: September 22, 2012, 11:54 AM ET ESPN.com news servicesKevin McClatchy, the owner and CEO of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1996 to 2007, has acknowledged he is gay to The New York Times, saying frequent homophobic slurs he heard in baseball circles had convinced him to keep his sexual orientation a secret. McClatchy, an heir to a newspaper chain who sold his shares of the Pirates in 2009 only after ensuring that the club remained in Pittsburgh, said the time had finally come to speak openly about his sexuality. [+] Enlargehttp://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/0922...y88_cr_200.jpgRich Pilling/MLB Photos/Getty Images"Kevin McClatchy saved the Pittsburgh Pirates," commissioner Bud Selig said in 2007, after McClatchy resigned as CEO. "You're not going to solve any problem until you start a dialogue," McClatchy told The Times for an op-ed story published in Sunday's editions. "And there's no dialogue right now." McClatchy will also be the subject of Wednesday's "Outside The Lines" (3 p.m. ET on ESPN). "I've got a birthday coming up where I'm turning old," McClatchy, who will turn 50 in January, told The Times. "I've spent 30 years -- or whatever the number is specifically -- not talking about my personal life, lying about my personal life." McClatchy is not the first major-league executive or former executive to come out as gay. Rick Welts, the president and chief executive officer of the Phoenix Suns, revealed his sexuality last year. "This has been challenging to me," he told The Times of his decision to reveal his sexual orientation. "I probably didn't sleep as well as I could have last night." McClatchy boasted of baseball's ending of racial segregation in sports while saying he didn't think players considered it similar to one of their own coming out as gay. "I don't think they equate breaking the color barrier with Jackie Robinson to, 'Hey, by the way, we've never had one player announce they're gay while playing baseball.' " A native of Sacramento, McClatchy spent more than six months assembling the shareholders and cash necessary to buy the Pirates in February 1996, after local ownership could not be found and it appeared the money-losing team might be relocated. He announced his resignation as chief executive officer in July 2007. McClatchy emerged as a surprise bidder for the Pirates in 1995, after Pennsylvania cable TV franchise owner John Rigas was designated to buy the team but did not complete the transaction. Then-NL president Len Coleman guided McClatchy's group through the $95 million transaction so a franchise now worth three times that amount would not leave. While McClatchy kept the Pirates in Pittsburgh, and was the driving force in getting PNC Park financed and built for the 2001 season, the team never had a winning season while he was the owner. "I take responsibility for the losing, that's probably in some ways reason for a change," McClatchy said in 2007. McClatchy's lobbying also was instrumental in the 2006 All-Star Game being played in PNC Park, only 12 years after the game was staged in Three Rivers Stadium. "Kevin McClatchy saved the Pittsburgh Pirates. He assumed control of the franchise amid considerable turmoil and during the worst economic period in baseball history," commissioner Bud Selig said in 2007. |
Well, the regular season is over. Congrats to the division winners: Yanks, Tigers, Athletics; Nationals, Reds, Giants. And the wild cards : Orioles, Rangers, Braves, Cardinals. RIP 2012 Red Sox. Record 69-93. Good for 5th place (aka last place). Nowhere to go but up guys! I'm hoping the A's go all the way. It's time for Billy Beane to have his day with the lowest payroll in baseball and a starting rotation of all rookie pitchers. A's-Giants World Series would be sweet. A's-Nationals would be sweet too. |
