Sometimes when I look at myself in the mirror and see those masculine features more pronounced than other days I can't help but smile. I notice it more when I have a fresh haircut... and I love it! :D

My kids in our homeschool group. Especially the first lil' one who ran up to me for a big hug this morning wearing: Purple sneakers, pink tights, a pink ballerina fairy dress, fairy wings, and a big floofy scarf tied onto a hair band around her head. And she has these fantastic pink framed glasses.
The second hug was from her little sister wearing red shoes, stretch pants with retro flowers all over them, a striped sweater, purple framed glasses, and 6 pigtails. More smiles when it was time for chess class and me and another mom decided to mess with the teacher who was trying to teach a three year old the names of the chess pieces so we started calling them "the chocolate kisses" and "the princess crown" and other silly names to mess with the teacher and makes the kids laugh more than learn. It was just that kind of day. |

Another phone call to my favorite 2nd grade teacher today. Had to postpone
the visit to see her until after the T-day festivities. I swear, every man should have to make Thanksgiving dinner...or any person that never has...should suffer the hell it takes...the day before T-day...mind you...in order to really empathize and appreciate what most women go through to make Thanksgiving so special. At least i have always done the dishes. And the desert ones too. Always done the dishes. I didn't know where else to put this...but i was asked to tell the story of why my 2nd grade teacher called me marshmellow...and her star...has to with a play i was in. It was some winter show...some winter celebration. 2nd grade. I was either supposed to be portraying a snowball, or a marshmellow in hot chocolate or a star or something...i cannot recall my specific role in said play. So, my mother, being the dedicated and hard working always showing up for her children...and always busy as anyone can possibly managed time...as if...there were more than 24hrs in a day...My Mother made my outfit. I recall that there was a gang of us...or group of 5 or so...snowballs or whatever we were supposed to be. I think we must have been marshmellows for hot chocolate. Well, i was nothing but muscle, skin and bones...and straight up and down with no waist...as my mother would complain "you have no waist"... Well, as we ambled across the stage...while we were to be singing some song...i had to keep pulling my damn white ball thing that was around me UP....because it kept slipping off of me while i was on the stage...and people laughed. OMG they laughed...and i tried so hard to hold onto the damn white ball that was around me...i tried to be as inconspicuous as i possibly could...LMAO...i kept on walkin and doin' it though. It was funny. to no avail... so, alas....Ms. J called me her marshmellow and her star of the play. I was very shy and embarrassed. And it stuck with her...and she made me soft inside...cause she showed me how to accept her gentile love...and that it was ok to not always be strong. I still didn't show it to her. but, somehow she knew something i didn't know. |
