Jaques, I loved this! Thanks for contributing it. Funny, I recently saw a movie starring Betty Grable, Dan Daily, et al called 'Mother Wore Tights', and they sang this song. I also have heard it by Julie Andrews in The Star. I had no idea it goes back so far in time. I hope you will continue to post your favorites.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful thread Cinderella.

I just adore this music and have spent the evening smiling and 'bopping' to some fabulous music, thank you to everyone for being so generous in sharing your favorites.

There are so many that I love but here are few of my favorites:

Another one from way back in the day, the original artist is not someone most would think his name was Leadbelly.

Thank you Tiggs & Fancy for your continued interest in this thread. It's hard to keep it alive. Not too many know, or like this music, so I hope you, and others, will continue posting fab 40's tunes of the Swing Era. :)

This thread is sure making my I-pod full and it is wonderful.

This is not a song from the 40's but since you enjoyed Tito Puente very much I thought I could share with you all this one of Tito and his daughter.
