This is my Dad's favorite song, and this is my favorite group doing their version of it.

I baked these "Big Soft Ginger Cookies" last night and they really are soft and super yummy! I substituted shortening for margarine and baked for 10 minutes (it says 8 to 10-- 8 was not enough)

I'm waiting for December.......

Yum! Please share your recipe if you don't mind.
Have you ever added a pinch of cayenne pepper to your molasses cookies? It is an explosion of incredible flavor. The sweetness of the molasses and the little heat from the cayenne pepper complement each other.

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons white sugar

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and molasses. Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Shape dough into walnut sized balls, and roll them in the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet (i actually sprayed mine with Pam) and flatten slightly.
Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Thank you!
Note to self... don’t be eating a molasses cookie when reading about ginger bread/snap cookies. Thank you again for the recipe.

Hello!

Mel is on hys way home from visiting me... Hy brought (non) Christmas gifts, lights and helped me decorate my tree.

We also watched Christmas movies (one was borderline Hallmark), and listened to Christmas music.

i sent some of my holiday cookies home with hym and we signed the cards for the card exchange list.

that’s more holiday activity than i have done in the past 5 years combined. :|
