Siam Square is also worthwhile visiting - if you like shopping, then you NEED to visit Siam Paragon that is located there. It's spectacular. LGBT-scene is a bit underground but not bad in Bangkok. The butch-femme scene, or tom-dee scene in Thai terminology, is actually strong with a number of specific events and clubs. I know some tom-dee folk in Bangkok so if you're visiting Bangkok and want to meet some friendly faces, then let me know and I'll see if I can put you in touch. |

Key West

Key West was a common vacation spot for my family when I was a kid. St. Augustine is my hometown and Florida in general was our playground. My recent assignment has me working in Key West for several days while you guys are living it up at the reunion.:bigcry: |
It's almost pillow time for me tonight....
and because I often dream one day of visiting France, I found this lovely picture of a beautiful home in a rural French countryside. I wish I knew more about my father's mother - she was born in France and everytime we had a family reunion, my aunts, uncles and cousins would remark to me about how much I looked like my father's mother (Vera). I know that as I age, I see that I look like her - more and more, as time goes by. *SoOoOooOo...* I'm going here tonight in my dreams: I do believe that it's a perfectly gorgeous place to visit. * Night Night * http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4146/5...3219333e_z.jpg |
Aruba
http://www.destination360.com/caribb...bean-aruba.jpg
Aruba is one of my favourite places to visit. Warm water, not humid, out of the hurricane belt, same temperature year round, beautiful sand. Last year I was 4x4ing on Aruba's North shore on Christmas day, it was a great way to spend Christmas. Been twice and will definitely go back. Although Hawaii is a close second. |
La Jolla Underwater Park..This was one of my favorite vacations. Water, sun, what's not to love?

The so called Nature Coast of Florida. The part I know is from the Chassahowitzka River north to about Cedar Key. Salt Marshes. Spring-fed rivers meet the Gulf.

What a great thread this is - so many beautiful places and amazing photos!!!
My favourite place in the world is the quiet island of Bali, especially Sanur, which is on a beautiful beach, and Ubud, in the mountains where writers and artists often stay. I've just returned home from 3 weeks holiday in Bali and wish I was back there!! If I could work out how to post a picture, I'd place some here, but I'm not sure how to do it!! |

I will leave a link to a forum thread where you can find help to post photos here, but if your photos are yours personally, I would suggest you find an website outside of this website to hang your pictures -- so you find it a bit easier to post a photo here. Link to ~>> Members Helping Members. I like this thread too and love to see photos of places people have been fortunate to have had the pleasure of visiting. I hope you're able to hang some photos here soon! I would love to see the places you have traveled to and how beautiful they are. Thank you, to all of you, for sharing beautiful places and spaces you have been to or dream about! Here's a place I often visit: It's part of the urban interface of the metro area where I live. Pittock Mansion. It's a gorgeous place to visit and when you're on the grounds of the mansion, you're at a fairly high altitude in that a person has a 180 degree, birdseye view of all the gorgeousness in our area. A person can see Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helen's, the W |
Morro Bay / Los Osos

Nha Trang has not been on my bucket list to date - maybe it should. I visited Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh) in March / April 2005 and had an energy-sapping experience there. It coincided with the 30th anniversary of the fall of Saigon to the Viet Cong, although I was totally ignorant of that when I booked. Also, I was on the trip with my partner and we were on the verge of breaking up (in fact, we basically broke up in Saigon) which complicated things further. There were many demonstrations and rallies over the few days I was there. Also saw some US Vietnam veterans who now lived there as was easier dealing with some of their issues closer to where they occurred than back home in the US. More so, I remember the stunning French architecture of Saigon - truly beautiful. On one of my trips to the Philippines, I'll call by Saigon again. Catch-up with some of my ghosts. |
Last night, I dreamed vividly of places I've always wanted to visit,
like Amsterdam . . . http://www.murraymitchell.com/wp-con..._amsterdam.jpg |
I want to see the city of Detroit this summer,in Michigan.I have been all over the U.S.A. but i never been there. It sure would be great if some one invited me to Russia,if not,i'll be going there in about two years.
|
Leaving in a few hours for the Russian River area of Sonoma County. I spent the summer there last year and will spend two months there this summer. It's my second favorite place in California. I just love it. I have to catch the cats first and then endure two hours of yowling in the car. But it's worth it. Poor babies. They like it too -- once they arrive.
Friends staying with me much of the time. One weekend trip to hear some Bluegrass. Russian River Brewery and Lagunitas nearby. It's a good way to spend the summer. River, redwoods, vineyards and breweries, and a stone's throw from Jenner and the Sonoma coast. I wish my summer breaks at the new job were longer, but it's a good job, and we get extra weeks off during the year. Anyway, so long South Bay. . . . http://jjigour.files.wordpress.com/2...iver.jpg?w=545 http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/...nik%281%29.jpg http://honormansion.com/assets/image...0vineyards.jpg http://47friends.com/wp-content/uplo...ong-Woods.jpeg |
I took the Amtrak Starlight down to visit a friend who came up for a training in her state agencies' office and while waiting for the train to arrive from Seattle, I sat in the train station lobby next to a rather large group of Amish people from Indiana. They were going to be on the same train, going down to Klamath for this leg of their journey, but they had just come from seeing Banff National Park (in the Calgary/Edmonton area of Alberta, Canada). The group of Amish were composed of six sisters (with their husbands) and their mother and father. They were on their 'trip of a life time,' that all of them saved toward over the past year. They have a family owned business, back in Indiana, so it took a lot of time and preparation to be off for three weeks. The very last car of the Starlight (coastal Amtrak) train was reserved for them - it was a turn of the century car from the late 1880s, early 1900s. They traveled to Banff first, then they're at the Redwoods in Crescent City today and then, they travel down further to the grove of Redwoods in Yosemite, CA.... to finish their summer vacation before returning to Indiana. Anyway, I've always wanted to take an extended vacation to go see both Jasper National Park and Banff National Park. :stillheart: |
Enchantment Lakes
https://www.outdoorphotographer.com/...laces/lead.jpg
I have NO idea when I will be able to visit the Enchantment Lakes area, south of Seattle, but closer to Leavenworth, Wa., but I have seen photographs of this place during the fall months of the year. It's definitely on my dream list, to visit. :) |
