Music

Am closing my summer with music by going home for the 37th Annual Detroit Jazz Festival (the world's largest free Jazz festival). Bassist Ron Carter and guitarist George Benson are headlining the event. Really looking forward to seeing family, visiting grave sites, and hearing some good music.

Summer

I am thinking about travel. I love going to the NE and I am headed back there soon. I also want to go to the SE to visit Florida and Georgia.

I would like to plan a trip to the NW, the flight from Texas going west is nice but the return travel is really hard. I would like to see northern California and Washington to start.

Happy traveling friends!

Seeing Fireworks tonight. Even though it's wickedly hot,
And we can't make up our minds what to have for dinner!

Many trips to the beach...it's a beach life now!
Day trips to Northern Texas.
Experimenting with chalk painted furniture.
Adding a natural barn wood finish to the top of my coffee table.
Possible trip across the Pacific Ocean?????

If you go to Galveston make sure to go to Miller's Seafood on the Seawall the food is so yummy. Also, I recommend the Galvez Hotel. It is a lovely historic hotel. I stay there often.

I know we just started Spring...but this could also be the start of a summer project. Check it out!🌻🌻🌻

Lowe's plans 'SpringFest' event with free curbside 'Garden-to-Go' projects for families. How to sign up
KELLY TYKO | USA TODAY | 9 hours ago

"Spring just feels so metaphoric this year. Sort of this coming out of our winter, literally and figuratively," Thalberg said in an interview with USA TODAY. "We're already seeing that interest starting to really build quickly as the weather is starting to get warmer in different parts of the country.”

Every week in April for "SpringFest," the North Carolina-based home improvement chain will give away different themed kits to families who register in advance. Registration starts April 1, a week before the first of four weekly giveaways.

Curbside activity kits: How to sign up
Registration for the free Garden-to-Go kits begins April 1 on Lowes.com for the first kit which will be available for curbside pick-up on April 8. The “family-friendly activity kits” can be reserved on the website a week in advance, while supplies last.

Here is the weekly schedule of kits:

April 8: Lowe’s says this kit “is sponsored by Miracle-Gro” and includes recipes from cook and food stylist Amanda Frederickson.

April 15: Lowe’s Mystery Garden Pinata with mystery seed packets.

April 22: For Earth Day, Lowe's will give out 500,000 tree saplings

April 29: "Lowe’s Butterfly Quest" helps families create a butterfly garden.

Getting in a camping trip or two.

Go on a mini-library tour. No matter whether they are grand or something small attached to a village clerk's office - I want to plan a trip to see a small number of them for example - between here in New York starting with where I live and then go on to add say 10 other towns or villages within a certain radius in miles and then keep an online blog about the ones I visit. I realized today after taking some time for self-care and doing some cleaning - that it would be nice to get out and about for maybe a month - and do something I love.

Host a housewarming get together. In all the places I have rented over the years - I think I have done maybe two housewarming parties. I never really considered doing it - because quite simply - I felt that it was more of a "if you buy a house" type of thing. But, I realize that even if I never own a house (by choice) that does not mean that the places I have rented have not left their mark on Me and My neighbors along with that. So, I am thinking of doing it this Summer- because I love this townhouse.

Oh and finally a Summer bucket list staple: read, read, read, and read some more.
