Me neither....in fact only people I`m really close to get a hug. Not that I`m not a smiley, warm, caring soul straight off meeting me, I am, I`m just guarded about my personal space....that maybe a new flaw I`ve discovered in myself !

When my children were younger there was a `Mom`pal that would throw her arms around you if you happened to be passing by the school gate at the same time, like a long lost friend. I used to see her twice a day, 5 days a week :| One time when she was particularly enthusiastic pulling me to her I couldnt help but say "Gosh its been so long since I`ve seen you, at least 6 hours" I`m pretty sure it went straight over her head.

1974 was a fun time :). What did you do in that organization? Any park work or environmental work?

I was kicked out of a home for unwed mothers as a teenager for looking at the other girls too hard. They were looking at me "hard" too, but I didn't complain.

I love apples.

girl_dee 07-02-2017 09:16 AM

Orema thats crazy!

i was sent to a girls home when i was a teenager, but the nuns weren't ready for me just yet. i actually loved the structure and would have stayed if allowed to. My parents thought it would scare me, but it was more sane and quiet than being at home.

It was insane and surreal and I hated it. One half was living quarters and the other half was the hospital. And we weren't allowed to see the hospital until we went into labor. So much secretcy. So unhealthy...

My dad (my hero) came to pick me up when they gave me my walking papers. He said something like "they said you were looking at the girls" and I told him they were looking at me too. We went to have shrimp and strawberries (my cravings at the time) and never discussed it again.

Georgia, I have nearly the same identical problem....so I totally hear you.

I have issues with people touching me as if they know me, when they don't really know me at all. I only accept touch from people who I know and appreciate greatly.

I don't like people who randomly assume that it's okay to touch me ..... in friendly or not so friendly ways.

girl_dee 07-03-2017 03:44 AM

i tend to believe/trust people even when i know better.....

Whenever I check out at a store, I like to have the odd change to go with the bills so I won't get any additional back!

I had a customer once who would only write a check for an even amount, then give me any odd amount in coins, maybe that rubbed off on me, I dunno! She claimed it was much easier to balance her checkbook!

I do not like all-you-can eat deals.

Smörgåsbords were the thing when I was growing up in Michigan and it's where my father wanted to go for any and all celebrations.

All-you-can-eat deals are popular in California, especially at the casinos. I dont' gamble and don't eat enough (at one time) to enjoy the casino nights with the girls, though I love to see a good entertainment show at the casino.

I love getting change back and sometimes I'll use dollars when I have enough change. I collect the change in one of my favorite jars and spend it during the holiday season. I usually save between $70.00 and $120.00 each year.

There were 16 of us from all over the state of Kansas. Our main objective was at 3 state lakes. We built shelters, cleared trails and beaches as well as maintenance of the dams (at that time these lakes were man-made specifically for irrigation of crops).

We conducted wildlife counts on the kangaroo rat, the golden eagle and the intrusion of evasive fish. Reestablished the trout and large mouth bass at the local fishery. We were paid a stipend of $30 a week, lived in the university dorm, wore khaki shirts with jeans and boots all military and required hard hats. We also earned 6 hours of college credit.

Sorry for the long answer-thanks for asking.
