Talking to my nephew about how to wash, clay, and wax his car. I was pleased as punch to find out that he was interested in cars because I love them too!
He is 16 years old and now has his father's old BMW with 300,000 miles on it. Yeah! :hangloose: I bought him a car detailing stuff for his birthday and today is the first day that he is using them. We just got off the phone where I went through every item I bought him and how to use them. I wish I could be there to do it with him, but alas, we live on opposite coasts! |
Us being so comfortable with each other that we jokingly refer to us as the old married couple and on our second movie for the nite

Tonight we went to the theater! Our local community came together to put on a remarkable production of Les Miserables!!! I laughed, I cried, I was just in awe!!!
This production, and this community brought me joy tonight!!! |

Watching the rain come down on the mountains, then the thinning of the clouds giving way to sunshine for a beautiful afternoon. Low clouds hovering between the mountains...Walking down to the water,.feeling the crisp mountain air and breeze....Great day Bro and I had

Watching the season opener of MotoGP on a big flat screen TV in a crazy bar with a bunch of other cabin fever infected NYC motorcyclists. Fantastic race!

Seeing a friend brought me joy. She called and wanted me to help her with this beautiful German chest of hers. For those of you who may have your mind in the gutter, I'm talking furniture, not breasties - not only that, Maria is Greek and not German.
I took enough wood over there to make two extra shelves in this massive chest ... cut them -- they fit perfectly. She will sand and stain them next week. That did not take long to do the shelves. We had a good visit afterwards. I just love her. We are doing dinner soon. :) |
Seeing the sun come thru the wet pine trees. It rained last night and they were all sparkly this morning. It's beautiful to see other parts of the country:)
Yay vacation! |
Holding day old chicks. Just the fluffy ones. The sticky ones can wait awhile. :cluck:

Can I just say...
What a joy a freshly barbered hair cut/growing quiff is.
Can I also just say; I love the baldy baldness of the detailer - even closer than reg. clippers w/no comb guard. Can I finally just say; My barber dude offered to do a straight razor shave instead of the detailer. Next time mate whilst we're still growing the quiff and keeping the top bit...before it gets too much and I whizz it all off again :cheesy: ETA: posting this here instead of the correct thread has definitely raised a smile here :cheesy: |
I had a great day filled with many simple things that brought me much joy...
started with an early breakfast with my roomie...then to an old fashioned locally owned hardware store where we chatted with some awesome folks and got 3 really pretty tomato plants...then on to a local green house where we picked up a large flat of more tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, and 3 beautiful butterfly plants called Lantana...then almost home to drop off several tomato plants and a large pack of seeds for growing beans to our elderly neighbor that has THE MOST GORGEOUS raised garden beds you've ever seen! Made his day!!! ...then on to the roomie's parents to drop gardening stuff off and visit with them and their sweet granddaughter (a.k.a the Christmas Elf)... home again to unload and take trash to the dump...then drive WAY OUT in the country to visit a small family owned chicken hatchery/certified farm to learn more about raising healthy chickens and inquire about buying different breeds....this is where I started to feel like a little kid all excited about the baby chicks...because the lady had sold all the current babies, we only got to look and learn...until I found one TINY three day old soft fuzzy feisty sweet chick that had a crippled leg...I couldn't resist!! She is now our newest adopted adorable baby...and I have completely enjoyed setting up her new home and taking care of her...she LOVES getting her water from a little syringe, using the reptile hot rock I had kept from previous critters to keep warm, and she's eating very well both from my hands and from her little bowl. She's soooooo tiny but very feisty and a real fighter! We named her Uno...for her one working leg. Poor baby! Actually my roomie named her but it stuck. I can't help it....I absolutely love taking care of baby critters!! She really stole my heart today! We got other chores done that made me feel good ...but I can't stop checking on Uno and making sure she's ok all cuddled up on her hot rock. |
solving my cabin fever...
After stacking two mats/cushions in the truck bed to help pad my old bones...
Looking up at the stars, watching fireflies, enjoying the cool night air, listening to some silly birdie who forgot that birds go to bed when the sun goes down, hearing frogs down by the creek, loving the heavy scent of honeysuckle all reminds me of when I would camp out on our old garage roof or my gramma's back porch on nights just like tonight.... Only then I wasn't so spider or bug phobic.... Its really a gorgeous night...minus the mosquitoes and the neighbors dogs.. |
Knowing she smiled big today.
