The power is out, we nearly got washed off the hill or blown over to the next county, and we can't run any water. That means no shower or toilet. But at least it didn't blow the roof off, yet. No shower and a big meeting in big city today at coorporate office. Guess I'll take shampoo out to rain spout.

It's actually COLD here this morning! 47!!! (That's cold for Austin this time of year!)

I feel so awful when birthdays pass and I'm not on, or can't wish them a happy birthday on this site on time.

I beg forgiveness for blasting the forum with belated wishes but I do mean them...that's all...

I am having kind of a "duh" day.

The landscapers arrived this morning for the "spring clean up". Of course this involves raking leaves, picking up debris, blowing stuff into piles that can be discarded.

Sounds reasonable huh?

Except we are having gale force winds here.

So, I sent an email to the management company requesting they educate me on how the landscapers manage to defy the laws of physics to do their work well in such high winds.

I'm getting nicer at asking the questions tho. They provide me with many opportunities to practice.

If Y'all KNEW how much FUN You'd have throwing paint on a canvas, Y'all ALL would be doing it! :D In the meantime, I don't mind if You wanna pay ME to do it FOR You! ♥

Is it wrong to lose myself so deeply in my genealogy research? LOL! Working on my D's now. Much fun.

I need a flippin' bath!! Scrubbed from head to toe!!
It's been a LONG day and I'll be damned if I go without an emergency kit again or have to get ready for work by taking a "bird bath" with 24 ounces of bottled water. The things we take for granted :praying:.

I now have a new respect of those individuals [that are part of my caseload] who have major barriers to a "normal" life and who may be homeless and/or not have access to every day comforts such as a hot shower or a safe place to stay out of a storm.

summer

It really felt like summertime today. Beautiful blue sky. I cut the grass when I got home from work ,it was in the 80's even broke a sweat. Then I cooked some chicken on the grill, if I had a little more sunlight I would have played some basketball . I could use alot more days like this!!!!

" Can you paint me a Birmingham? Make it look just the way I planned, ..." Such a good song, I heard it today too, how ironic huh?

“An art studio doesn’t usually make anyone’s list of what the homeless need. But when Anita Beaty decided to start painting in the storefront window of a homeless shelter, people were soon looking in and asking to join.

Beaty is the executive director of the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless. She’d been looking for a way to combine her love of art with her passion for eliminating poverty. There are seven artists working there now, including TieRee Malone and Greg Walcott, who say painting helped them turn their lives around.

‘It gave me an outlet, I didn’t think about being homeless, I didn’t think about where I’m going to eat at,’ says Walcott.

It also provided a source of income. Collectors, church groups and even people passing by the building purchase their paintings, which sell for anywhere from $200 to $2,000.”

No matter how bad it gets.......it is not as bad as it could have been...

Rook 04-08-2011 06:27 AM

Why must we wear matching socks...or shoes? There's no fun in that.
