Sadly enough the negative translation worked - or at least we have an item of clothing with the same term which is basically a t-shirt without sleeves. You can get string versions which are particularly, um, a matter of personal taste.

We have the same, it's a vest, but this lot call a waistcoat a vest so I usually add handy uk>us translations :cheesy:
