smiling through a mist of tears.

We raised Spanish Arabians growing up.
Mom and Pop "sold" the farm several years ago after her last horse died, natural causes.
They are travelling in their RV, but wintering on my property.
My mother is 72 .

She's so sad that she doesnt have horses. Or shi* on her boots, or curry combs or lunge lines, bridles, or that she's not mucking a stall or soaping a saddle, or picking a hoof...she was born to ride...at the least, to live in a barn.

My friend is boarding her horse, but has no time to ride.

I introduced them yesterday.

Guess where mom spent her day.

:praying:

So I bought these black silk pj's just after the holidays. They were ok, nothing to get too excited about. I washed them though & they began to fall apart. So I took them back today and exchanged them for the sexiest little lilac colored lace nightie! LoL It's so not me but this is the year I step outside of my box, my comfort zone and do the things that aren't me.

Is it wrong that it's 4pm & I'm home in my new lacy nightie LoL ?!!!

I feel so decadent!

Daktari 01-30-2013 04:08 PM

Congratulations from someone who knew how important tomorrow is to me.

-the opportunity to work with my brother last night and that it was a relatively safe night (despite) the tornado(y) weather and high winds
-a crackling fire
-good morning emails
-the smile on my mothers face for the surprise of a new refrigerator

My town children's carnival is coming up - historical Bristish figures (yawn)and the organiser has said yes I can do the Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragettes costumes! :-) :-) How can I make some railings light enough for a kid to carry...?

Sounds like great fun. Railings for what? To lean on or just as props? Wrapping paper tubes?

PinkieLee 01-31-2013 08:40 AM

What made me smile today...

Spending a couple hours with my bestie last night, catching up & making plans for a girls night dinner this weekend.

Waking up the sweet puppy this morning, and watching her stretch out of her zebra printed blanket/bed.

The sun is shining bright!

A kick ass hair day :)

thanks, could do...the suffragettes chained themselves to railings so they had longer to give a speech about why women should be allowed to vote, while the police tried to unchain them. So I thought I would have one of the kids chained (obviously humanely with a paper chain) to the railing, with a policeman kid carrying the railing. It's meant to be amusing not disturbing, but I'm not sure the good folk of my small town will share my sort of humour :-/

They also used to go on starvation diets and be forcibly fed through tubes in their stomach but I don't think a kids carnival is the place to represent this aspect of womens' oppression, so will be giving that side of it a miss lol.

Think the railing idea may be a bit ott anyway so possibly will tone it down and just have kids in pretty dresses and hats with Votes For Women sashes on. Supposed to be a fun entertaining day...not a political statement about misogyny by me... :-)

Being able to talk (okay, scoop and shnuggle) psycho kitty off the proverbial ledge when Squirrelcutus of Borg was sitting on the patio taunting her. Psychokitty sometimes has misplaced aggression issues.

TheMerryFairy 01-31-2013 03:10 PM

I woke up smiling and feeling really good. I continued to feel calm and comfortable the rest of the day. I also spent most of the last 9 hours by myself at work. There was a rain & wind storm and not a single soul came through the shop door. Normally I would have been bored but today it was a nice change of pace. I daydreamed and had my notepad to amuse myself with little project ideas.

VintageFemme 01-31-2013 08:05 PM

This! =)
People can be so freaking adorable. Not only is my face smiling, but my heart is too!

One of my brides is overflowing with excitement and wants to start planning print orders. The funny thing about that is that her wedding is not until July. I advised her that she should probably wait til the photos are TAKEN before trying to make an order! LOL

I love wedding photography, seeing folks all giddy and excited! It really brought a smile to my face this morning! :)
