I watched "Melancholia" today and got very emotionally involved with it. It's an intense film. A little hard to explain to those who haven't seen it. I had to follow that with an old favorite, "Beetlejuice" just to lighten the mood. lol!

Dark Skies.

Red Dawn

I'm not fond of remakes but this one was pretty good. Good action, mediocre acting, hideous dialogue. In this film, it is the North Koreans who invade Washington state.

Still prefer the 1984 version when the Soviets took on Patrick Swayze, C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, Charlie Sheen Jennifer Grey, Harry Dean Stanton, and Powers Boothe.

Talon 03-20-2013 08:50 AM

Anna Kerenina and Rust and Bone...I enjoyed both of them very much.

JinxieB 04-02-2013 11:59 PM

I Love You Phillip Morris....I feckin love that movie.............. :)

The Sessions

Paralyzed and confined to an iron lung since childhood, poet-journalist Mark O'Brien has overcome adversity time and time again. But now, at age 38, he faces his toughest challenge yet: losing his virginity. With the help of a beautiful therapist, a sympathetic priest, and his own unbridled sense of optimism and humor, Mark embarks on an extraordinary personal journey to discover the wondrous pleasures that make life worth living.

William H. Macy, John Hawkes, Moon Bloodgood, Helen Hunt

------------------

Helen Hunt as the sex therapist really augmented this movie. Or, maybe her nakedness augmented this movie. Still deciding.

I watched Trespass...

A movie with Nick Cage and Nicole Kidman that I never even heard was made...for good reason...it wasn't great...

the last GOOD movie I watched was The River Why... it's on netflix also :)

Django Unchained...
That was an Awesome Film, I think one of the better ones of Tarantino ever{Reservoir Dogs & Kill Bill 1+2being the others}
It had my attention from the beginning{although, as usual, Quentin's choice of soundtrack reeks}, the blood splattering is signature, the Humor's awesome..
And, like me, Tarantino must've really hated the game of Candyland at some point...
Jamie Foxx rawked the role{the blue suit was very amusing, it doesn't last long, sadly}, Samuel Jackson was perfect as the senior house slave, attitude and all.

Great thread! :)

It's In the Blood.

http://blog.rottencotton.com/wp-cont...2/11/Lance.png

Stumbled across this low budget horror with Lance Henriksen. I'll give anything with "Bishop" a chance ( plus, I loved Pumpkinhead).
I was pleasantly surprised.
Well shot, with a few rough edges ( I hate when I see Boom mic's in the frame!) But over all, well worth a viewing if you're a horror aficionado :)

Argo

Was kind of disappointed. Reminded me a lot of a reverse Wag the Dog.

Safe Haven...this was a really good movie. Pay attention though, it's not what you think

MissItalianDiva 07-06-2013 03:36 PM

Ok so last night I was either very tired or this was truly a great movie. I got it on Amazon Instant video so I don't know if it is on Netflix but it is called "The Perfect Ending" I really thought it would be a cliche and tacky mess but it was thought provoking and full of aha moments. Really great flick. Here is the link [ame="http://www.amazon.com/A-Perfect-Ending/dp/B00AYB0UTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373146382&sr=8-1&keywords=the+perfect+ending"]Amazon.com: A Perfect Ending: Barbara Niven, Jessica Clark, John Heard, Morgan Fairchild: Amazon Instant Video[/ame]

Also this week I rented The Abduction of Eden from Redbox and this one is not for everyone but it is raw and very well done. I sat and bawled for a few hours but that is for a whole other personal reason...it is an emotional movie though so bring some tissues..or the whole box. Here is the amazon link to that one but it is in Redbox now for rental as well [ame="http://www.amazon.com/The-Abduction-Eden-Beau-Bridges/dp/B00BXWIMUE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373146568&sr=8-1&keywords=the+abduction+of+eden"]Amazon.com: The Abduction of Eden: Beau Bridges, Matt O'Leary, Jamie Chung, Megan Griffiths: Movies & TV[/ame]

After Earth

My son & I went to see After Earth on Tuesday. It took about 20-30 minutes before I started to get into the movie.
Stick to going to see it on a cheap day or for dvd. It's good but don't know if it's worth the $12 bucks to go see it along with popcorn, pop and price of another ticket.

QueenofSmirks 07-06-2013 04:50 PM

World War Z - I liked it. Not an academy award winner, but I was entertained.

Cid 07-06-2013 10:10 PM

I went to see Now You See Me a couple of nights ago.
It was amazing! I loved it. Just when you think you know what's going to happen, you don't.
I totally recommend everyone should see this at the theatre on the big screen. Too amazing to see on tv.

Gráinne 07-06-2013 10:16 PM

Despicable Me 2. I thought it was better than the original, even if you can tell what's going to happen.

Teddybear 07-08-2013 03:09 PM

Wow this is exactly what I have been telling people. Laughed from start to end and will buy the movie when it comes out. I don't buy new movies when they first come out because they are too expensive and I don't have desire to watch again BUT I bought Bridesmaid and will get this one

Nat 08-25-2013 09:07 PM

I watched "The Spectacular Now" last week - I liked the acting and I thought the photography was beautiful. I liked that they didn't mask the scars or the freckles on either of the main actors' faces. There were some issues they glossed over, but I'd probably give it 3 and a half to 4 stars out of 5

ONLY 09-01-2013 08:47 AM

I saw "2 guns" with my son and we both really enjoyed it.

Happyfemme 09-01-2013 10:44 AM

I saw Identity Theft on demand yesterday. I thought it was funny.

Admission

Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Lily Tomlin

A Princeton admissions officer, who is up for a major promotion, takes a professional risk after she meets a college-bound alternative school kid who just might be the son she gave up years ago in a secret adoption.

Very sweet, sometimes funny, sometimes serious. Lily Tomlin was awesome.
