I am still having problems with Majjoing solitaire (I know, I butchered the spelling). Whenever my game is over, I get a black screen and then I am bounced out of there. I am wanting to do better than my last score (which I havent done yet) and am worried that when I do, it wont get recorded.

is anyone else having problems with that game?

and why, in the first round, when I get rid of all the squares, does it roll the numbers real fast and then throw me out of the game? Dont I get to go to the second turn?

softness,

When a mahjong solitaire game is over, the rolling of numbers very fast is the game adding your leftover clock time to your score. Then you will see a black screen which is the page sending your score to the leader board. The page can take a bit to load. If you are just getting a plain black screen, you might want to update java - that solves a lot of arcade problems.

If you clear the board in the first round - I never got a second board. Some games have funky quirks in them. So leave a couple of tiles and click for a new shuffle.

Maybe that will help a bit.

WISH LIST

Is it possible to MOVE the FORWARD button on the pm response AWAY from the REPLY button?

grin..

or am I just going to have to learn to pay attention to what button I am clicking?

As I like to tell my students.. "Reading comprehension isn't a requirement but it does help.. " ;)

That kind of change would require quite a bit of code change. It could be done but won't be a high priority on our list of "to-dos".

asphaltcowboi 12-16-2010 08:03 AM

im wondering if anyone one would want.. and if it could be done.. if the high scores in the arcade could be reset like every new year? give everyone a chance to grab at a high score from ground zero?

Linus 12-16-2010 11:30 AM

Certainly could be done but let me check with Medusa if she wants to do that. I'd hate for people who have gotten the high scores already feel like it was for not.

That would be my concern. If someone gets a high score on December 30, 2010 and we reset on January 1, 2011, it wouldnt be fair.

Sensitive Subject

Hi Linus,

Is there a way to put a permanent banner on a thread, like the banner about the Inner Sanctum? The reason I ask is that we've got rules for the age-play thread, but they aren't posted anywhere and so people break them without even knowing they exist.

Would it be possible to put a notice on the Daddy/girl Dynamic House and on the Sanctuary thread--the kind of notice that pops up no matter what page a person is reading--stating that no pictures of actual children are allowed, and maybe also explaining why?

Thanks,
Cath

I concur. I have never been in the arcade, but people can get pretty serious around that stuff and work hard and long hours to get top scores in regular arcades, so I bet they do here, too. Nah, don't mess with a person's high score...just work harder to beat it!

If we're going to do that, I'd like one on the Dear thread that says:

"DO NOT COME IN HERE AND VENT ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP DRAMA, WE DON'T CARE IF YOU THINK THEY'LL NEVER COME ON THIS SITE!"

or

"THIS POST ISN'T AS THINLY VEILED AS YOU THINK IT IS. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON ON THIS POST?"

I believe the reality of a website like this is that it's going to consistently draw new people, and there is nothing visible to the majority of people to say that the two specific threads for age-play have different rules than all the rest of the website. In effect, that means these two threads have invisible rules.

It seems only fair to find a way to let people know that it's different, and since many people navigate from the front page or from their subscriptions (without going through the formal forum pages that list all the threads) it seems to me the only way to be transparent and fair about the rules is to post them right there on the threads themselves. That's why I made the request.

Maybe someone could draw up a rules post and regularly repost it? Arwen does that with the 9 Words Poetry thread because folks come in there and just write 9 words and leave, without bothering to read anything else to see what the rules are for the thread.

Sadly, in just about every thread that has rules of conduct or whatnot, most people don't seem to bother to look around and find out how to post and what is and is not acceptable but just go and throw whatever they think the thread is about up. The gaming threads are notorious for this and is why I don't frequent them as much as I used to. I am very much a 'play by the rules' kind of person and it's not worth the irritation to me so I just don't go in there so much anymore.

Medusa 12-16-2010 09:37 PM

It's possible with several caveats.

There are modifications that will force users to read popups based on what (I THINK, so don't hold this in concrete) Forum they are in so we would have to put the Daddy/Girl thread in a forum by itself in order to do that (and that's provided that we can find a modification that will work with the version of software that we are running).

I will look into it but also will encourage people to use their judgment when posting photos. Just because there is not a neon sign above a thread flashing rows and rows of "rules" does not mean that there is not some responsibility on the poster to pause and ask themselves if what they are about to post is a good idea or if it might have ramifications to the other members or site owners.

Hell, we have folks who have been a member of this site for over a year who have never read the TOS. :seeingstars:
