Movie 43

All star cast in a series of short parody films on life. This is a very odd, bizarre, rude, obnoxious, and offensive movie.

It is also creative, innovative, and freakin hilarious is an odd sort of way.

Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold (can't spell last name.....THE TERMINATOR).

Really liked this movie. 2 Thumbs Up !!!!

We saw Gravity with Sandra a Bullock and George Clooney last weekend.

The special effects were very good.

I have to admit I frequently wished I could use my remote to fast forward at times.

It was okay.

Just saw a documentary on HBO last night. Extremely sad. It was about a real case here in CA of a transgendered 15-year-old killed by a 14-year-old and the aftermath of the killing.

I remember reading about it in the Times in 2008.

Worth watching: Valentine Road.

Very well-done, non-exploitive.

Basquiat : Bio of title Artist, Still hoping to grab the DVD, makes a person sit back and ponder what really is Art, and who appointed the folks defining it...

The Darwin Awards: Based on a real Award with the same name, and real cases that have been nominated and "won", each year a bunch of folks that have insanely idiotic ideas, or do certain things which basically...graciously eliminates them from the current chain of Evolution {aka they die or become severely handicapped after having an epic brainfart}

The Flock: A bit disturbing, but a fave of mine nonetheless, Richard Gere was very good at drawing in the viewer with his role as a sex offenders parole officer, some scenes can be Triggering..

Red 2: Awesome personified, funny too. If you haven't seen the first Red, please do..Age really is only a number, the older the person in these 2 Films, the more fucked up, amusing and deemed dangerous.

Side Effects
: Another PsychoThriller, loved it, Jude Law's the protagonist, Catherine Zeta-Jones was drool-worthy, both had me edge of my seat, and the Twists involved were perfect...

Parkland

Parkland is a 2013 American historical drama film that recounts the chaotic events that occurred following John F. Kennedy's assassination. The film is based on the book Four Days in November: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy by Vincent Bugliosi.

Parkland weaves together the perspectives of a handful of ordinary individuals suddenly thrust into extraordinary circumstances: the young doctors and nurses at Parkland Hospital; Dallas’s chief of the Secret Service; an unwitting cameraman who captured what became the most famous home movie in history; the FBI agents who were visited by Lee Harvey Oswald before the shooting; the brother of Lee Harvey Oswald, left to deal with his shattered family; and JFK’s security team, witnesses to both the president’s death and Vice President Lyndon Johnson’s rise to power.

I didn't think I was going to want to watch another rehash of this. But, this was quite intriguing.

We just came home from seeing American Hustle.

I can't even begin to write how much we/I enjoyed this movie. I just loved it.

It was extremely funny, interspersed with genuinely touching moments.

Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper were so very good.

Directed by David O. Russell.

The Celluloid Closet (1996)

This wonderful documentary delves into the treatment of lesbians and gays in Hollywood. The journey takes us from silent films to 1996. It is amazing how many films have been changed or adapted to hide the gay side of life. So many features we have all seen have in a stealth way dealt with the issue. If we begin to look with a gay eye at cinema we may discover some delightful treats. You might want to view Doris Day in Calamity Jane or Charlton Heston and Stephen Boyd in Ben Hur and the nature of these characters relationships. I think you would all find it enlightening as well as entertaining.

the last movie was beautiful creatures, I was somewhat disappointed, it deviated so much from the book, why can't they leave a good thing be?

saw "Philomena" (great movie) a couple of days ago and I'm going to watch "Still life" this afternoon :)

Ginger 12-28-2013 08:54 AM

I saw Saving Mr. Banks last night. I don't want to spoil it for anyone else so I won't say anything except that it's great!

Happy_Go_Lucky 12-28-2013 08:57 AM

Hunger Games catching fire

Ohmygosh.....after the excitement of the first of this trilogy, quite the let down. The story was painfully long, with nothing of substance happening until the last half hour.

Jennifer Lawrence is phenomenal, yet her worthy performance does not compensate for the slow movement.

Maybe I no longer am looking forward to the third installment.

Good news is this series is quite female centric, books were written by a woman and our protagonist is female.

I sadly say 2 thumbs down.:runforhills:

VintageFemme 12-28-2013 09:05 AM

Cloudburst. In a word .... precious. Olympia Dukakis makes a wonderful butch and the romance of this movie is just overwhelmingly sweet. Love.
