After a grumpy start this morning because of traffic and not being sufficiently caffeinated while en route to a Dr's appointment, spending quality time with a close friend and having a hilarious conversation over lunch at a Greek restaurant we stumbled upon while out running errands. Good stuff.

The fact that even here, far up in the left corner, Spring has sprung. Daffodils lazily bobbing their sunshiny heads, buds beginning to burst on trees, and girls about in clothing that doesn't make them look like lumber jacks.

AscotButch - I am addressing this post here in the hopes that no one else will be foolish enough to make a sexist comment like the one you just made.

"and girls about in clothing that doesn't make them look like lumber jacks"

Really? This sounds like something that would be said by sexist men drooling and making inappropriate, objectifying remarks as women walk by them. And this will NOT be tolerated here. Is there something wrong with women who are lumber jacks or who choose to wear a certain style of clothing? Is a woman's beauty now defined by what she wears? And the fact that she wears less clothing because the weather is nice - does that make her fair game for comments like this? Is she simply body parts that you or anyone else gets stare at? Not here Ascot! Not here!

A reminder - this is a woman positive community/site. And comments that objectify, reduce, or anything else that is negative will be called out and addressed. Period. Dot. End of story.

This one really made my blood boil.

What made me smile....

I promised Spritz I would have my bp checked sometime today. The nurse practitioner came in to volunteer her services for an hour or so like she does every Thursday. I asked her if she could check my bp.

Before starting meds I was reading about 147/80 something. Today, with meds, it read 120/79... yeh. :)

A lady at the gym made me smile, when she encouraged another lady to put more weight on the hip adductor machine.

I think that's what you call the one where you sit and push out with your knees. She was only doing like 30 pounds. I do 130, and the lady who was encouraging her does 70.

It sort of set off this energy where all the women started noticing and commenting on each other's workout.

I helped this older woman use one of the ab benches, and someone gave me some tips on, I don't know what it's called, but a machine where you stand on your knees and twist your body; I'd always thought I'd hurt my lower back on it, but she encouraged me to try it with less weight. She said I wasn't getting, shit I forget what you call them, the muscles on the side of your torso.

The night before, I had to smile when a giant guy got off one of the upper body machines, and he sweating like a parody of a person sweating, it was so excessive.

He really wiped down the machine when he was done, used the spritzer on every surface. I thanked him for cleaning up so well and remarked that it was impressive that he pressed 270. I only press 70. He was super low-key about it but I could tell he was really proud when he said he could only do ten reps, but he started with two. I said that was great, that I started with 30 (pounds, not reps) but now I'm up to 70. He said that was great, too.

All of this gym talk makes me smile.

My gorgeous 'almost' daughter sent me a sneak preview of their engagement photos and omgosh, they are just beautiful. My face hurts from smiling so much! Oh and a text from her too earlier calling me "Mom" ... be still my heart.

Today was not super smiley in general but one nice, smiley thing happened. A very nice Butch flirted with me in line at the coffee place at the mall. I have a terminal case of femme invisibility so I don't always trip the gaydar. And when I do, I'm CLUELESS when it comes to the flirting thing. It was nice that someone noticed.

Fixing and eating dinner together via video chat. I would have NEVER considered it, but a dear friend who now lives in Australia with his husband after over a year-long LDR suggested it, and it was a delightful experience!!
