The BoSox meltdown is complete. They lost tonight to Baltimore with 2 out in the ninth, courtesy of Papelbon giving up 2 runs.

Tampa Bay and the Yanks went to 12 innings before Longoria put an end to it. Yanks used like 12 pitchers - one I swear was the ballboy.

So Tampa is the wildcard in the American league.

And St. Louis pulled off the impossible and beat out the Braves.

Exciting finish but I am glad it is over. Congrats to all the winners on a job well done.

Next up, I believe, is Tigers vs Yanks; Tampa vs. Texas; Cardinals vs Phillies; Brewers vs Diamondbacks.

Think I'm rooting for the Tigers and Cardinals.

I'm kinda okay with that cuz it means we get to go to the game on Monday and I didn't have to find someone to cover my shift at work.

Down with the Yankees.

AtLast 09-29-2011 01:01 AM

Damn about the BoSox!

Last season game for SF today- they lost.... but it was a fan appreciation day and the guys obviously see we love the hell out of them!

Yikes! The Cards are in. And the Brewers. Hummmmm.... thinking about a Cards vs. Tigers WS. Two cities in the US that have had such awful financial times. The WS brings a lot of commerce into cities.

But, part of me wants AZ in it... then there are the Phillies with Doc....

I am a National League fan, so I will be rooting for the NL tean in the WS. But, I think the play-offs in both leagues are going to be something. Wouldn't it be something if the Rangers got back in!

WOOT.. its play-off time!!!

Oh Kobi, I know that had to hurt. So sorry Pal.

I'd like to see Jim Leyland and the *Furs* as Hack called them

And anybody but the Brewers!

ruffryder 09-29-2011 10:19 AM

well damnnn Red Sox. :overreaction: I don't like the Yanks, so yay!! :cheer: Why is everyone calling them the BoSox. Is that something new?? Cause I don't like it. LOL

As far as the Rays, hmmm. I just don't know if I can get myself to like any FL team, even though I relocated here. . hmm hmmm.

Although, I wouldn't mind catching a Rockies/Marlins game sometime out here but I'd be rooting for the Rocks.

Scorp 09-29-2011 10:45 AM

Exactly....P.S. I've occasionally heard them referred to as BoSox over the years, being I was born and raised here.

Thankfully the Yankees are out too, so I don't care who wins now...

I'm not sure where BoSox originated. Might have been a sport announcer thing but I grew up with the name and that was back in the 60's. Was BoSox and ChiSox back then. Ok maybe we New Englanders are just lazy spellers.

Scorp, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say : "Thankfully the Yankees are out too, so I don't care who wins now..."

The Yankees won the division and are very much in the thick of things. Opening tomorrow night I believe against the Tigers.

Did I misunderstand what you meant?

I'm still sticking with the Tigers to make the WS. Maybe the Cards or the Diamondbacks too. Heck as long as it is a good bunch of fall baseball, I will be happy.

Am very glad fantasy baseball is over. Got my 3rd place cyber trophy LOL. Gees it was a freakin long season.

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!:happyjump:

I DON'T CARE WHO WINS!!!! :thumbsup::cheerleader::freak:

JUST GIVE ME SOME GOOD BALL!!!!!!!!!!

That's all I'm asking... not much, not much at all.

Starbuck 09-29-2011 06:26 PM

Now that my favorite team, the Red Sox are done for, I'm rooting for the Texas Rangers! They are the closest team to me and I've been to several games. So go Texas!

I probably should get behind the D-Backs... but I do like the Cards in the NL in terms of their manager. Even though I'm a NL fan to the core- I am thinking it would be kewl for the Rangers to go all the way and win. But then, I was so impressed with Detroit this year.

But, the pjillies... UGH- it is really hard when your real team is out of it! I ought to just watch and enjoy the games. Have to be honest, I don't want the Yankees to get to the WS. Really would like to see teams that are never in it get to that level. Rangers had never been last year and Nolan Ryan is someone I think of as a real baseball player. Decisions, decisions...

macele 09-30-2011 04:58 AM

my predictions:

american league ...

rangers over rays
tigers over yankees

tigers over rangers

national league ...

phillies over cardinals
brewers over diamondbacks

brewers over phillies

world series ...

tigers over brewers

macele 09-30-2011 05:20 AM

i hope i'm wrong, ... i hope the cardinals beat the phillies.
if cards can win, they can beat the brewers.
i like prince fielder and i like the cards as a whole. so this would be hard to choose who i would cheer for. i'd like to see pujols get a ring.

in the american league, i'm tigers all the way.

we all know defense wins championships. i think that's the tigers.

The Cardnials are a finess team. They make very few mistakes and have very good bats. They are a little weak with Pitching. The phillies, have been Nl dominators for too long, we need someone to overpower them. They have good pitching, but not alot going for them with the bats or defense. So, you may be right. The Phillies can be beat. The Pirates beat them (before all star, when we were contenders).

I couldn't agree more Go Tigers. Speculation, and projection on my part....I wonder if Jim leyland wins a world series, if he will once and for all
Retire and come home to his family and beautiful wife Katie. He often talks about how much he misses his family, but his wife wants him to do what he loves and she supports being away is part of his job. He's emotional, he cries when he speaks of his family and his love of them. After all, thats who this is all for.

Back to baseball.

I am thoroughly enjoying everyone's opinions!! And thoughts. Keep 'em coming, I like reading them!!
