The Muppets

This was such a sweet and happy film. I don't remember the last time I left a movie theater feeling like I did today. I cried when they sang, "The Rainbow Connection". It is nice to nurture your inner child every now and then:)

My niece invited me and 4 others to a free screening of "This Means War"

I don't know how she gets those, but with the cost of $12 to go to the movies, free is great! I might go more often.

One Night with the King:
Loved it..I thought it was well-done, impressive cinematography w/o being Excessive where it counts...
It's the recounting of Esther, Queen of Persia, how she became Queen, and the events following that detail how she saves her People from Genocide{Persian Jews}.
I kinda tried to ignore the fact that Xerxes in this film slightly resembled a 'radical faerie', often....other than that, I was very much drawn into the Plot..
♦With Luke Goss as King Xerxes {Hellboy 2, Blade 2..}

Curse of the Golden Flower:
A very vivid, visually "busy" Film about Love, strange Lust & Betrayel, all within the Forbidden City...
I'd have to compare it to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, as far as the Action scenes...and there's plenty...
I think I liked it more because of the Details, rituals, costumes and because I have a morbid delight in following at least 3 different Plots unfolding at once {It satiates the A.D.D in me}..
Not for those who easily get lost, nor those who detest Subtitles {since the Dubbed version seriously reminded me of an early Bruce Lee film...If I see caption and the caption ends, and their lips keep going on and on and on, it gets slightly annoying.}
The primary Actors are good, as usual (their listed Movies here are Faves that I have or want to buy)
♦With Chow Yun Fat {Bulletproof Monk, Anna & The King , etc...}
Li Gong {Farewell My Concubine, Hannibal Rising, Memoirs of a Geisha, Raise the Red Lantern..etc..}

i loved one night with the king! not sure why...on a technical level i felt like it was kind of overdone/cheesy in parts. but i just fell in love with the story. same with the indian film jodhaa akbar...the royal love story. i could watch them both over and over and over again :)

the last movie i watched was boys don't cry. i started mao's last dancer a few days ago but haven't finished it yet.

2046....a total stumbled onto it on ifc today. Japanese subtitles. As soon as it was over? I wanted to see it again. A good movie...(not an escape film which I highly value as well) passes thru me and I am changed..... at least for a day.

"La Boheme" - Giacomo Puccini (Anna Natrebko and Rolando Villazon) - 2008

If there was ever a way to create a cinematographic opera for a popular audience, this is it... and I loved it.

The whole thing is here (believe it or not):

Misfits of Science (1985)
The original movie, not the tv series, it's taken me years to find it again, I used to rent it from the video store (back when they also had betamax so it shows it's age)
I'd forgotten just how political a lot of movies were, and back when I was a kid, I never saw it!

The_Lady_Snow 02-05-2012 04:35 PM

We watched

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes"
