“ To sacrifice who and what you are, or to live opposite of your desire, that is a fate more terrible than dying. That is a wasted life .”
― Joan of Arc "Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity. Never accept counsel from unproductive people. The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate. Surround yourself with people who challenge you. Choose your friends wisely . Or your poor choices will keep you poor. " - Unknown “We all need to be mocked from time to time, lest we take ourselves too seriously.” ― George R.R. Martin |
As told by Bill Clinton in conversation with Nelson Mandela
When you're in politics, you get a lot of advice. But I think the best advice I ever got was in a conversation with Nelson Mandela. I talked to him about how he overcame his bitterness and hatred and resentment, and he said, "You know what? People can take a lot from you. They can take everything except your mind and your heart. Those things, you have to give away. I decided not to give them away, and neither should you."

“no one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. people must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” ~nelson mandela

I loved her not for the way she danced with my angels but for the way the sound of her name could silence my demons. |
"Imagine yourself standing in the rain on the bank of a raging river. Suddenly, the water-swollen bank gives way. You fall in and find yourself being tossed around in the rapids. Your efforts to keep afloat are futile and you are drowning. By chance, along comes a huge log and you grab it and hold on tight. The log keeps your head above water and saves your life. Clinging to the log you are swept downstream and eventually come to a place where the water is calm. There in the distance, you see the riverbank and attempt to swim to shore. You are unable to do so, however, because you are still clinging to the huge log with one arm as you stroke with the other. How ironic. The very thing that saved your life is now getting in the way of your getting where you want to go. There are people on the shore who see you struggle and yell, “Let go of the log!” But you are unable to do so because you have no confidence in your ability to make it to shore.
And so, very slowly and carefully, you let go of the log and practice floating. When you start to sink, you grab back on. Then you let go of the log and practice treading water, and when you get tired, hold on once again. After awhile, you practice swimming around the log once, twice, ten times, twenty times, a hundred times, until you gain the strength and confidence you need to swim to shore. Only then do you completely let go of the log." --Anita Johnson, Eating by the Light of the Moon |

“All the advantages that man has gained from his ever-deepening understanding of the natural world that surrounds him, his technological, chemical and medical progress, all of which should seem to alleviate human suffering... tends instead to favor humanity's destruction.”

He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven
Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. William Butler Yeats |
I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.
~Lisa Kleypas |

Have courage, man. The wound can’t be that bad. MERCUTIO No, ’tis not so deep as a well nor so wide as a church-door, but ’tis enough, ’twill serve. Ask for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man. I am peppered, I warrant, for this world. A plague o' both your houses! |

Quote:
Mr Jefferson never referred that his book was a bible, his intent for his book was something that was his for his personal use and personal reading material. I am going to guess that it was something far beyond what Palin is rambling about considering he never published this work during his lifetime. *I* believe like anything else religious and oppressive it's been made to religious propaganda... |
