27 degrees now and snowing
ice storm, sleet around 5:00 a.m. when I first went outside this morning ... all that changed to a feeble attempt at snow about an hour ago ... now experiencing decent (thick) snow sent home from work at 10:00 this morning ... the ground is frozen from ice and sleet, roads are too dangerous for travel and powers that be said to stay off the roads ... several have perished in wrecks already in this area ... and there is a jack- knifed semi hanging off a bridge ... the driver is okay but bet his/her draws are wet (probably skidmarks too - mine would be) Reporting from: Gulf Coast area, couple hundred miles inland |

Crippling Snowy Cold South
We're sitting at 35 degrees, we may get sleet, I hope not. Atlanta is still crippled people have been in their cars or have abandoned them to find somewhere to keep warm. On the news they are speaking to a woman who's been in her car for 17 hours.
The National Guard is coming in with Humvees to help move school buses and semis off the Interstate. Crazy!!! |

employer sent everyone home at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday due to icy roads and snow ... glad to hear we can return to work tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 |
... nothing but pearly gray skies, intermittent rain showers and it is still windy but there was a slight interruption where the sun seemed to come out because we had several fleeting moments of sunshine.
It's not warm, but at least it's not freezing. I dream of summer practically every night. Today's high: maybe 50. Tonight's low: maybe.... 37? |

Today it was a balmy 65* with some sun popping out now and then,tomorrow it will be in the low 70*s,this is much welcomed after the past cold nasty days.

The thing about snow here isn't that it snows and there's a lot of it (this is the Snow Belt); it's when the ploughs come through to clear the roads and bury everything on either side in huge mountains of snow, ice, road salt...you park on the street after a snow storm warning, you will pay dearly.

Good Morning to me: in NJ 20 year old insists on driving to work. Schools are closed... another snow day for 14 year old .... supposed to take ex for epidural because she has no idea how to care for herself and the college I work at in NYC and can only drive to is open... WTF?

Currently, it's 28 and 20 with the wind chill.
This is what good ole weather.gov says: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 2pm, then rain and sleet likely between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 4pm. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 36. Northeast wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. This will on top of the 3 inches that's coming down now. If I were a kid and this were a snow day it would be cool. Sometimes I am really annoyed at being a grown up. :goodluck: <---to me |
In East Tx, an hour outside Dallas, it's 31*F and feels like 20 with windchill.
Today's high is 35* and tonight will be 22* with windchill around 0. No snow in my forecast for my town, but ICE is expected in Dallas and Ft. Worth areas, with possible snow in their forecast too. I'm over this cold weather already. Bring on Spring! |
