A quiet house

I have a child-free weekend. While I will miss my kids, it is nice to have the TV off, and just quiet. It's beautiful! :bunchflowers:

Self reliance ::: I have accepted that I will be living where I am right now for a long time. Don't get me wrong it's FABULOUS. I'm in my favorite part of town, looks like the woods but is 12 minutes from downtown, and is larger than I have ever lived in by myself. Lot's of light, peaceful, etc, etc. Problem is my furniture does not fit. SO I have been selling on Craigslist and buying pieces more to scale.

Yesterday I asked a friend to help me pick up a desk, in another town, but to no avail. Sigh, I went by myself anyway. The desk was perfect (I collect antiques) Soooooooo........ I put the top of my convertible down, and a little 90lb woman and I figured how to make it fit. We got an almost 5' desk into the back seat. Drove down the freeway with Queen Anne desk legs sprouting into the air and hair flying in the 40 degree wind, (LOL yes the other drivers avoided me) but I got it home. Then sat out front trying to figure out how in the heck to get it upstairs.

I saw a neighbors light on, and went and asked him if he could help me, and he was so gracious. He carried it all by himself up the stairs and into my house. And it's heavy. Now this lovely desk is sitting in my living room, waiting for me to reorganize the office. That makes me smile. Cause I was brave enough to go by myself, even when I knew I could not do it alone :)

a great meeting this morning, hearing lots that I needed to hear.

talking on the phone with a couple of friends

feeling sleepy and deciding FOR ME to take a quick nap, just cause I CAN! (the fact that I was up till after 3AM last night, before getting up early for said meeting above, I realize I am WAY too old to be doing that, but yanno I had fun with my date!)

Being told again today, by the butch I had a date with last night, that my smile just shook her world. What an wonderful beautiful thing to hear!

Even though I just saw the pic that my ex put up on facebook with her and her new gf, and felt that first rush of a pang, what brought a smile to my face was the realization that I truly DO want happiness for her, and hope she finds it, and the feeling of trust in my OWN life, that I will find happiness myself too. (could I really be ready to release the pain and anger and hurt and resentment and all that CRAP??)

Happy Saturday, everyone!

twinkies and root beer

Twinkies and Root Beer

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.

The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.

The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?

"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

Going to a Tango Milonga last night, with live Tango music. Seeing people of all ages, dancing together, from 80-teens. The intimacy, the sensuality. It was delicious. Sexy-delicious. I want it.
