I have to get to work, but had to say Hi to the baseball fans! WOW- getting very interesting! What will happen tonight!?

Kobi 10-07-2011 06:59 PM

Another good, nail biter game.

Congrats Brew crew!

D-backs had plenty of chances but just didnt have one more trick play up their sleeve.

Ok time for the Cardinals to pull off the impossible. Then my wish for Tigers vs Cards for the WS will be one step closer to reality.

I couldn't watch it, but did listen on the radio between classes. I so wanted the D-backs to win!!! They have been smacking my Giants around all season and I thought- "OK, go on and get in the series, you deserve it!" Also Kirk Gibson has grown on me as a manager. He has done such a great job turning that team around.

OK... now what will happen with the Cards!!!

Wooohoo Cardinals did it! What a pitchers duel!

Fantastic baseball night.

So Texas vs Detroit and Brewers vs Cardinals.

Still going with Tigers and Cardinals.

the play by rafael furcal in the bottom of the 8th, 6-3...
that was all heart. man he was determined.
i bet that's the hardest he has ever thrown a ball in his life.
i'm not so sure placido polanco was out. i haven't seen the replay close up.
dang what a play!

then nick punto makes a great play at 2nd, 4-3.
two hustle plays, excellent.

chris carpenter's pitching and the defense behind him, ...
gave it all they had. enjoyed.

macele 10-07-2011 10:13 PM

yeah, polanco was out lol !! wow, what a hustle-heart play by furcal.

highlights ...

I knew in my gut the Cards could beat the Phillies because they play finess base ball. I think (i'm not sure exactly) this is the third time the Phillies have dominated the division and lost in the play offs.

Go Tigers, Go Cards, Now, ELIMINATE the Brewers!

The Phillies have been in the playoffs 5 years in a row. I agree- the Cards under LaRussa are a finess club. Have some scrapperdom, too! I'm glad they advanced. Not happy the Brewers did.

I dont follow baseball alot..but at the beginning of the year I thought it would be the Red Sox or Yankees against the Phillies. Disappointed about the BoSox, but not about the Phillies. Now I'm hoping for The Brewers.

What team of the remaining teams has not won a World Series in the longest time?

This would be a nce world series. The Cardnials came from essentially a #3 in the wildcard slot just days away from the end of the season and the Tigers hung around a .500 club most of the season......Cinderellas, so to speak.

:hangloose:

(0) texas rangers have made one world series appearance.
in 2010, san francisco giants won.

(0) milwaukee brewers have made one world series appearance. in 1982,
then in the american league, ... st. louis cardinals won 4 games to 3.

(4) detroit tigers have won 4 world series. the last in 1984 against the
san diego padres.

(10) st. louis cardinals have won 10 world series. the last in 2006 against
the detroit tigers.

Yup, my scrapper, freaks won in 2010! Whoa- didn't know the Cards have won that many! And it has been a long time for the Brewers. Hummm... Texas hasn't won one.

But, I am a National League fan.... so....

Wow, I didnt realize the Brewers have never won a WS. I thought they had won a few back in the days of Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Gorman Thomas, Cecil Cooper, Rollie Fingers et al.

And I forgot they used to be the Seattle Pilots too.

So the Rangers and Brewers have never won....ordinarily I would automatically root for those who have never won before. It would be cool if they would face one another in the WS.

But, I am still stuck on the Tigers and Cards for the present. That is even tho the Cards wiped the field with my Red Sox back in 67. Gawd that was a series to remember with the likes of Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda, Steve Carlton, Tim McCarver vs Rico Petrocelli, Yaz, George Scott, Ken Harrelson, Reggie Smith, Jim Lonborg.

Then again, it was the Cards the Sox beat in 2004 to win their first title since the early 1900's.

I did not know where the Brewers came from, they just showed up one year :seeingstars:. I have sour grapes when it comes to them, as you have read over and over, due to their arrogance. Even the Phillies did not act like that and in my opinion, they were a better team. Win/ loss anyhow.

Ah, but were they really scrappers? Yes hot and cold...Baseball is streaky. You guys got HOT again for the playoffs and Dominated with your pitching, and showed many flashes of that, this year.

In retrospect (me reviewing why the Pirates kept that batting coach) Baseball is really a game of failures.

If you go to the dish and miss 7 times.....(7 failures) you are batting .300

True, so many other things factor in But a .300 hitter is paid millions. They don't call it a .700 looser. OK, done thinkinng out loud.

jk, atlast :hangloose:

I fell asleep during the Tiger game last night. Darn! Tigers down one in the series with a 3 to 2 loss to the Texas.

Delmon Young is out for the remainder of the season:hamactor:
That obligue muscle is worse than they initially thought. I think they will miss that bat. He batted .316 against the yankees 6 hits in 19 trips to the dish, 3 of them home runs.

OK :goodluck:, Jim Leyland, I have faith, keep them focused.
Go Tigers.
