By checking the "only contacts" box in the edit options area for Visitor Messages, people not on my friend/contact list will be unable to see my visitor messages, correct?

Thanks.

Do you mean the one with this:

"This forum features a visitor messaging system that allows members to send messages to one another publicly."

Hi Linus- yes, this is the one.

Not sure if I understand it completely. Thinking it could help with combating stalking behavior in a "quiet" way by
blocking access to visitor messages and who we interact with.

By checking the box- would that stop someone that I don't have on my "friend/contact" list from seeing my visitor messages and who posts the

Thanks!

It should be to only receive messages from friends and contacts, I don't think it blocks anyone else from actually seeing them.

Thank you. I did have it wrong!

Why is that conscious living/green living thread (or whatever it is) set to Private?

I don't "log in" when on the site at work, so I have noticed this.

It's not the thread but the forum the thread is in. Let me talk with Medusa and find out why we did that for that forum (I cannot for the life of me remember why)

I suspect it's because June was pushing buttons in the backend ;)

I think it's ok for that forum to be public!

Sorry, that is what I meant.

Yeah, that was kind of why I mentioned it. I figured it was in error and maybe you didn't want it private.

I always knew you were a backend button pusher. :nyahnyah:

is there a way to view who is in the chat room?...when I click on the chat room and the drop down window comes up, or down, and I click on the 'who's chatting' all I get is an error message...

thoughts, suggestions?

thanks in advance

N

Nina: I suspect you were doing it from the front page. That's a known issue (the developer never did help us with it and we're still trying to figure out why).

Next time, try from in the forum area itself (that is, click Forums and then go to the Whois in Chat drop down). Should work.

thanks...I did it...it may have worked...I got a weird kind of harp-like sound...it scared me...many things do :)

take good care...

cheers...

or automotive questions??? Maybe a DIY questions/advice thread?

I was wondering yesterday if anyone here had used Sea Foam additive for engines/ crankcases yesterday. I was told it really does help clean up engines so I picked some up, but ( even after watching their little video) I am still unsure exactly how much to use.

I'm sure there are many folks here who have experience with DIY repairs/ maint. things and it would be awesome to have resources w/i our community.
I'm not afraid to try stuff at home, but sometimes do run into questions that might be helpful BEFORE I totoally screw something up... LOL!

Great idea Kobi!

I hear mixed reviews on it. Some swear by it, some think it is not the best thing for their engines. I personally don't use it.

I do not know how much to use, so I would suggest contacting Sea Foam, or seeking out a car forum for your make/model, and putting Sea Foam in the search engine of their forum. For sure there will either posts on it or someone will be able to answer your question there.

Good Luck.

DapperButch 06-10-2011 10:43 AM

Kobi/Jess,

Why not just start a thread for each of those items in the hobbies/interests section?
