yay! the snow stayed to the north and east of dallas, it tried to snow a little bit here...but luckily that was bout the time the temp rose to 37 degrees...it was my early day so no traffic on the icy roads at 5:30am and wintery mix was turning to rain by 4:30 when I got home :)
I am doing my taxes tomorrow and maybe get out for a bit in the 50 degree weather...I have cabin fever....ugh |

I remember when I was a kid it snowed a lot one winter,I built a snow man, then it melted.Being a kid was a great time for the most part. |
World-class idiot right here.
At 5:15, I took my son and his friends to a trampoline park about a mile from my house, as the crow flies. To get there is a straight shot, but to get back home, I have to actually pass my house, do a U-turn, and come back. There is a hill on the way past. Weather: Not a flake in sight. At 7:00, when I went to pick them up, it was a blizzard and getting harder. There were at least two inches of snow already on the ground. I got there and picked them up without too much incident, but became hopelessly stopped on the return road. We waited for at least an hour with little movement when I was surprised to see my neighbor in the window. She offered to take all the kids back home (walking a trail that cuts through the divide), and I accepted. Volunteers, or maybe angels, were at the hill telling cars how to get up it and letting them go one at a time. Others were spaced along the hill in case of spinouts. I arrived home at 11:05. Never have I been in sight of home for four hours, and not been able to get there! Lesson learned; Weather comes in fast here. And now I have a new empathy for Atlanta last week. |
Any signs of snow has already melted away this morning. Nothing but wetness abounds like rain that fell upon the ground and rooftops dripping with moisture.
I never got to make my snowman :( |

Weather Report
Today in central Texas it was 77 degrees and sunny.
Awesome! |
20 degrees and it is supposed to start snowing soon.

Looks like we finally caught a break. Only about an inch to an inch and a half on the ground this morning. There's most likely going to be more snow showers today though.
I read yesterday that Tokyo got a little over 4 inches of snow. That's quite a bit for them. 13 years since they'd had that much at once. The folks here are surprised that we've had as much snow as we have. This winter has just been a bit off with snow, I guess. |
5℃/42℉, not too windy and some sun here at the seaside.
|
Atlanta should see some snow/wintery mix starting this evening.

Last night when I looked up the over night weather they claimed to expect a dusting or up to 1" of snow. I woke up to 4.5."
Traffic is horrid...took 30 minutes to drop little miss off to school...a normal 5 minute drive. Seems folks around here don't think stop signs count on snowy days. :| |
Umm yup more freakin rain...I really need to be more careful when I choose to beg for something
|
Now that's some report!

Today the cold snap blew in and it was a high of 41* but in a matter of hours now the temps have dropped down to 35* and it feels like it's 28* outside. Tonight is going to be in low 20's AGAIN and more freezing rain and ice.
There is a small town North of Dallas that has NOT had any gas on since Thursday last week. They had fluid get into the gas lines so they had to shut off everyone's gas there so they could flush out lines and then go door to door and replace meters. I feel for those folks. I really do. They have been in the cold for a few days with anything they can do to make heat. There are people venting dryers into living rooms to run as heaters and using space heaters, as well as several clothing articles being worn just to stay warm. The entire town was without heat as gas is pretty much the only source for heating that most of them had, unless a few places had central electric heating already. They had to shut down the hospital heating units and the old folks home there because they both used gas as heating source. They were the first to places that got the gas lines cleared and meters changed out thank heavens. It's sad that when you rely on natural gas and this happens, you don't have heat in the dead of winter. I hope none of you that use gas up north for heat have this happen to you all there. OMG what a nightmare that would cause up North in this winter storm nightmare we've been having this year. Stay warm folks and don't get out unless you just have to. Stay safe as well. |
Snowed from Nowata Ok. to Paola Ks another long day.
