I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing our own sketchbook project as an auction item for the Reunion?
We could pick a few themes and decide on a sketchbook (I would prefer to use the Moleskine watercolor sketchbook or something with a heavier stock of paper than in the Art House project) and anyone who wanted to could complete one and send it in. We could package them together in some cute way for the auction. What do you think? |
Great idea! How about we all do a few pages in one book (i.e. send it around to each other till it's done)? Not that I'm lazy or anything. Well, maybe. Just a little.

but I fear the part about sending around anything book like (remember people) and Like Jen says a whole book might be overwhelming but what if we picked a size art paper (and we would all have to get the same paper as the base) and each did a page or 2 (or more if one wants) and sent them to one person (preferably someone going to the bash) and that person bound them together somehow (lots of ways to do this) and then it goes to the bash! Ideas we could pick an broad overall theme (we could even do a poll !!!!!!!!!!!) and each person could do a "mini chapter" under that theme we could have funs!!!!!!!! |

So are we just going to do the bash project or are we going to do a monthly one also?
I think we should have more time to do this, but not so long as to put it off and still be running late LOL Do we want to start it now or do we want to do it as say a june, july, aug project? What size do we want it to be? square rectangluar , big, med or small? Do we each want to do a page or do we want to do the book thing and each do a "chapter" (2 or more pages) Some of you did the sketch book projects what can you tell us about them? I think that it would be good to do them the size of a regular sheet of paper and smaller....that way there is many different options in putting it together....so if its smaller than 8 1/2 x 11 it can still be adapted(matted) on to the bigger sheet. Themes...hmmm Life's Dynamics...leaving open to self interpretation Puzzled.....what makes your puzzle come together....what are the pieces Planeteers...(your stance in this planet, how you are connected with this family) Shrug that's all I got! |
I like the idea of doing a “book” where we all contribute a few pages. We could have one theme for the whole book or we could have chapters and have everyone contribute a page for each chapter.
If we wanted to gear it specifically for the reunion we could have chapters on: coming out, identity, acceptance, community, sexuality, family, etc. Or we could do it more like the sketchbook project where you pick from a theme like: I’m sorry I forgot you Below the surface A day in the life Happy thoughts Secret codes Lines and grids A record year for rainfall … etc. I think it should be more than a monthly project. Maybe it’s something we can work on in the background of our regular projects. We’ll need to make sure we set a deadline that would give Pixie plenty of time to put the book together for us. |

Pure P idea about each person contributing a page to each chapter in a book is great! She also asked a great question: If this is for the reunion do we want it to have a planet theme in the book? Gemme wants us to choose democratically! I would like for the regular pen palers to respond with their ideas too. |

Off the topic of our exciting Reunion project (been loving our collective "think"!), I am wondering if it would be cool with y'all for me to wrangle a post secret project for our next round?
For anyone who does not know what I mean, the theme of it is to put secrets on postcards (funny, serious, personal, not personal, whatever) in this style: http://www.postsecret.com You would then send me the # of postcards of everyone who signs up minus yourself. All could be the same secret, or they could each be different secrets. |

Ok....I think I'm caught up now......
~LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of a BOOK of our art as a Raffle item. ~Love the idea of having different chapters in the book and we all contribute something to those chapters. ~Love the idea of the base being the same size and we go no larger than that size. I seem to remember a couple of those pass-around books from the dash site getting 'lost'......um.....No. And did I read that Pixie is volunteering to take on this task!? WOW! :wine: <~~for you, darling ~So.....how will the chapters be chosen?
